In class tomorrow I will distribute an INM Chart (Imperialism, Nationalism, and Militarism). You will be responsible for completing this for the following countries: Germany, Austria-Hungary, Great Britain, Serbia, Russia and France. ONCE this is complete, you will then provide me with a blog regarding who was responsible for World War One.
Class notes and the past three reading handouts will be able to guide you through this assignment along with your own independent research. I feel strongly that this will be beneficial to your comprehension of The Great War.

WW1 Essay
World War 1 started when Archduke Franz Ferdinand from Austria was assassinated. Gavrilo Princip from Serbia was the murderer. It is because of this reason that Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, supported by Germany. Within a month, this triggered a chain of reactions in which nations of Europe declared war on each other. In my opinion, all the nations were to blame for the war. I cannot just pick one because they all contributed to it in some way or another.
As stated above, Austria-Hungary and Serbia started it all. But Austria Hungary didn’t proceed with the war until they were sure that Germany had their back, since they had a treaty. This also gave Serbia time to get back up from Russia. Russia also had a treaty with Great Britain and France, which made the conflict bigger than what it actually was. The other nations joined the war for many reasons like power, defense or because of treaties they had with one another.
It’s fair to say that all countries were impacted by militarism, alliances, nationalism and imperialism in a similar way because they all wanted the same thing; power and more land. Therefore, is hard to give all the blame to one country. The Treaty of Versailles blames Germany for it all. It was created by the “Big Three;” Woodrow Wilson from America, Lloyd George from Britain and Clemenceau from France, which is not fair because they didn’t give Germany the chance to speak. I don’t agree with the treaty because is not fair since they all contributed to the war in the same way. For example, they all tried to destroy each other and caused a lot of damage in Europe. In conclusion, all nations involved in the war are the blame for World War 1 because they all let their ambition get to them and didn’t think about the consequences that a world war could cause.

In my opinion I believe both the Balkans and Germany are to blame for the World War 1.
The Balkans are responsible for causing the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie. This death of the royal couple sparked the the start of the war. The Balkans murdered the couple because Austria-Hungary took away Bosnia from Serbia. On the other hand, Germany took control of two French territories. This situation made France a rival towards Germany. Not only did France hater Germany, but other countries disliked each other for several reasons which in a blink of an eye they took sides. Due to all this tension, Allies and Central Powers were created. Austria-Hungary blamed Serbia’s government for the assassination, which led to Austria-Hungary declaring war on Serbia.Germany and Russia were supporting Serbia, which meant they were also involved in the war as well. Due to the opposing sides, it was all the Balkans and Germany’s fault that World War 1 began. If the assassination never happened Austria- Hungary wouldn’t have declared war on Serbia, which meant Germany wouldn’t have been involved as well as other countries. If there was never opposing sides, it would’ve been a smaller war and World War 1 could’ve been prevented.

My opinion for who is to blame on the war would be Germany. I feel like out of every other country in the war (even between Austria-Hungary and Serbia) I feel Germany was the cause of the war and that’s whom I blame.
ReplyDeleteGermany was a rising power back then. Germany even had other countries worried that it was going to become the worlds super power and it was going to disrupt the balance of power. The Germans also had strong goal and that goal was to have a strong army. They even wanted a stronger navy force than Great Britain also. They were actually going through an “Arms Race” with everyone, trying to get better weapons or plan better battle strategies (the Schlieffen plan). Germany was even trying to race Britain in having more battleships then them.
The Germans had used imperialism by trying to take control over the Balkans and expand their Prussian empire. That was a little bit of a problem because the Russians also had interest in the Balkans as well. Austria-Hungary had German influence so therefor the Germans decided to form an alliance with them while the Russians formed an alliance with Serbia vowing to protect them from Germans or Austria-Hungary incase a war broke out. The Germans natural ally was France. This was because the Russians were cool with Germany until the Germans stopped giving them loans cause they feared that Russians would gain interest in the Balkans, so that’s when the French started giving Russians loans and now both countries don’t get along. The Germans had set up an alliance with Italy stating if the French come and attack the Germans Italy would send over troops to help defeat the French.
The Germans were also doing a lot for themselves instead of trying to end the conflict. They pushed on Austria’s idea of going to war with Serbia, they attacked the French in such a way that made Italy join the Allied Powers, and Germany tried to build a railway from Berlin to Baghdad opening up more German influence in Turkey and the Middle East this created more tension between the powers.
So in my opinion Germany is to blame for WW1. They welcomed the idea of war and that country was just a war like country.

WW1 Essay
There were so many countries and different conflicts in World War One that you can probably say that more than one of them were responsible for starting the war. Even though the main start of the war was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, I feel as if Serbia or Austria-Hungary were not the ones who were the ones responsible. The country I think is responsible for starting the war is Germany. That said, even if Ferdinand wasn’t assassinated, the war would’ve still happened. Imperialism, Nationalism and Militarism show that Germany was a country that wanted everything for them and wanted things to be how they wanted. Germany was involved with the Imperialism in Africa. In Africa, they traded manufactured goods for ivory, gold, and palm oil. Belgium had established the Congo Free State and eventually seized the Belgian Congo. The effect of this event was that it set off the scramble for Africa, in which Germany competed with Belgium for land in Africa. Nationalism in Germany was that she wanted to protect her power in Europe by forming peaceful alliances with other powers. She became more aggressive after 1890. Germany wanted to build up her influence. Also, she came into serious conflicts with other powers of Europe due to her ambitions spreading to many parts of the globe. From 1910 to 1914, Germany turned out to be the most militaristic as she increased her defense expenditure by 73 percent. She had the conscription system since 1870. From 1913 to 1914, Germany increased her standing force by 170,000 men. Battleships increased from nine cruisers to twelve. In 1900, a Navy Law passed by Germany, doubled the Germany battle fleet. These are the reasons in which why I feel like Germany was the one responsible for the war.

Austria-Hungary may be considered to be the one to blame for starting the First World War. Many of the innumerable Balkan conflicts involved the Austro-Hungarians however, none escalated so far as the tussle that blew into World War One. The hunger for Imperial power over the South-Slavs and the wish to prove themselves a more than a minor mar-mongering country in the Balkans along with their nationalistic goals and priorities peg them as one who might be blamed for the introduction of World War One.
ReplyDeleteAs one of the Balkan nations, many Austro-Hungarians spread over political borders while maintaining their nationalistic identities. The South-Slavs were an area of the Balkans they wished to obtain, however, their long-standing rival, Serbia also had their eyes on the South-Slavs and incited much conflict over the power of the region in question. Their relations with Germany gave them the courage to stand against Serbia and their powerful ally, Russia. Without Germany’s support—which they would not have received had they not a great many Germans in their country—Austria-Hungary would have never incited Serbia to the point of full-out war.
Their nationalistic ties went beyond the patriotic borders and alliances. When an underground Serbian nationalist party, The Black Hand, assassinated their heir, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, along with other casualties, Austria-Hungary could not remain silent. While the leader of Austria-Hungary was not much angered by the killing, it was found as a great opportunity to strengthen the patriotism of his country and start a war with Serbia. There were hopes to leave the Serbs weakened from war and unable to protest while Austria-Hungary snatched the South-Slavs from under their noses. Were Austria-Hungary to avoid from issuing the ultimatum concerning Franz-Ferdinand’s death, a large scale war could have been avoided. The situation did not necessitate such drastic action and could have possible been solved in a more diplomatic fashion. Nationalism was considered important, however, and the country may have been torn if an appropriately offended response had not been issued regarding the heir’s death.
Their alliance with Germany was greatly sought after to strengthen Austria-Hungary’s combined military force to face Serbia and Russia. Their obvious way of looking for war, however small, inevitably brought larger forces into play. They attempted to display their military prowess over Serbia with the ultimatum, and their own militarism was further fueled by Germany’s blank check of support in a conflict with Serbia. The Balkans were often referred to as the “powder keg” due to their volatile state and constant battles. The culture of militarism that followed imbued itself into Austro-Hungarian society, leaving them itching for a war they eventually initiated.
While there were many factors involved that led to World War One, if forced to pinpoint one country as the rabble-rouser, many would put their finger on Austria-Hungary. While their conflict with Serbia started out small, they unknowingly drew many greater powers into a conflict that could have been almost entirely avoided. Their culture of nationalism, militarism and imperialism led them to start the first if the modern World Wars.

Who is to blame for WW1?
In my opinion I think that Germany is to blame for the WW1 because she wanted world power and wouldn't let anything get in her way. In the process she created the alliance system.
Germany was the first country to kick off the alliance system. She created an alliance with Austria-Hungary, who at the time was about to inaugurate war with Serbia. During that time Serbia, due to her conflicts with the Balkans was at a weakened state. Her military army were just recovering from the battles. Germany had a hidden agendas behind the alliance she made with Austria. She saw Austria as an easy target to conquer, because the country had many German citizens, hey would easy to win over. Other countries observed what Germany was doing, and started allying themselves with others by making treaties to protect their land and country. But because of the alliances made between the countries, it was their duty to back their allying country when she goes to war with another. They have no choice but to serve that ally due to the treaty agreements made.
The alliance system which consisted of the The Dual Alliance in 1879,The Austro- Serbian Alliance in 1881, The Triple Alliance in 1882, The Franco-Prussian Alliance in 1894, The Entente Cordiale in 1904, The Anglo-Russian Entente in 1907, and The Triple Entente in 1907 and 1914. As you can observe the alliance system that Germany started turned into a cycle with the countries that were involved in the war.
It was the Treaty of Versailles that ended the cycle and also the war. The treaty was signed on June 28, 1919 in the Versailles Palace which was outside of Paris. The treaty was negotiated between the Allied Associated Powers and Germany. It stripped Germany of all its colonies. She gave Belgium Eupen-Malm, France got Alsace-Lorraine, Poland gained some Eastern districts, Lithuania attained Memel and Denmark got a large portion of Schleswig back. The treaty also made Germany take the full blame for WW1, because of her aggression towards the other countries.

My opinion on who is to blame for world war 1 is germany. germany was a really demanding country and she really wanted world power. germany was the blame for world war 1 because they were a really powerful country and they had a massive army to protect them. they used their army for purpose of aggression it showed other countries they were the ones not to be messed with. also imperalism was a very big thing in germany. germany took control of many territories overseas.
Its crazy how germany fought their allies on both the western and eastern front and they were still able to keep the country from being attacked. germany promised austria-hungary that if they wanted to go to war with serbia about the assassination of archduke ferdinand they would support them. but germany took that the wrong way because they took matters into their own hands and attcked belgium which was a neutral country. germany also had other problems on their hands they didnt want to fight both russia and france at the same time.
Germany had a very great army and because of that many countries need their assistance in wars like it said in the packet on page 19 "italy was promised german support if france occupied morocco or tripoli". but because of the great army many other countries feared germanys like france because they already fought a war with germany alone and lost. the anglo-german naval race was also a big part of world war 1. germany tried to overtake great britian in the water with dreadnoughts. but little did germany know that great britian had about 32 dreadnoughts and germany only had about 19. that plan to take over great britian failed.
Germany also brought countries that were neutral into the war like great britian because they invade belgium for no reason. great britian also decleared war on germany because britian asked germany to remove there troops from belgium and they refused. I think world war 1 could have been prevented with two solutions, if serbia would just take the blame for killing archduke ferinand this whole war and other countries joining sides could have never happened. also if serbia and austrio-hungary didnt need support from other countries like germany, russia, great britian, etc, they could have stayed neutral and mind ther business. but germany was still kinda the main cause of the war because of imperialism, nationalism, and militarism.

ESSAY:
ReplyDeleteWorld War 1 exploded on 1914, but there were many conflicts before that had been solved without the need for a war. Who “pulled the trigger” to start World War 1? Why did this particular conflict lead to a war of such magnitude? Who is to blame for the war?
Usually, the one who is to blame is “the one that fired the first shot”, in that case the one to blame would be Serbia for assassinating Archduke Franz Ferdinand. But the purpose of Serbia to assassinate him wasn’t to start a war or create chaos in Austria-Hungary, Franz Ferdinand had little power and wasn’t even liked much in his own country. If they wanted to create chaos they would have assassinated higher more powerful Austrians. Serbia wanted to boost national pride with the resistance against Austria-Hungary and always kept in mind a “there can be only one” mind regarding the nation who was to control the Balkans. Serbia was not unfamiliar with war, but they never considered a conflict of such scale was to arise.
Austria-Hungary could be blamed for having solved the crisis with war instead of peacefully solving it. Past conflicts in Europe had been successfully solved without the need for War. So why did Austria-Hungary decide to declare war to Serbia and attack them?
It is known that Austria-Hungary was looking for an excuse to go to war with Serbia, hence the very severe Ultimatum sent to Serbia. Much to Austria’s frustration, Serbia agreed with all terms but two, these two terms were Austria’s cue to declare war. Austria-Hungary was interested in taking Serbia’s land and to control the Southern Slavs, they were waiting for Serbia to do something that Austria-Hungary could use as an excuse to attack Serbia, control themselves and prove themselves as “Masters of the Balkans”. Austria-Hungary was longing to recover their credibility and reputation after having been defeated by Germany (whose intent was to create an unified Germany through war), in other words Austria-Hungary saw war, and subsequent taking of the Southern Slavs were they to win, as throwing a canister of fuel into the small bonfire of Nationalism.
But Serbia was allied to Russia, the country whose military was considered “invincible” at the time; what gave them the courage to stand and face Serbia with its imposing ally? Austria-Hungary was given the “Blank Cheque” by Germany, their ally, which granted German support to Austria-Hungary no matter what action they were to take regarding Serbia. This support fueled Austria’s confidence in declaring war against Serbia and the great army of Russia.
In conclusion, it depends on what one might consider to be the culprit of a conflict. If one views the culprit as the one who attacked first, then Serbia is the culprit of World War 1. If one views the culprit as the one who had “bad intentions” to attack, and who could have avoided a conflict but chose to use violence, which is my personal view, then Austria-Hungary is to blame for having started World War 1.

Who is to blame for WWI?
Even though it is said that Austria-Hungary is to blame for WWI, I think it is Germany who is to blame. The reason why it is said that Austria-Hungary is to blame I because of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife's assassination. I don't think their assassination is what necessarily caused WWI. I feel Germany is the country that persued the other countries that were involved in WWI to begin the war. Germany was the country that invaded other countries like France and Great Britain. Imperialism, nationalism, and militarism was what caused WWI because of the way it was used by Germany. The way Germany used imperialism was by invading France and confronting Russia. Germany invaded France through neutral Belgium by crossing the border into Belgium even though they were in violation of the country's neutrality. Germany used nationalism by becoming the strongest military power in Europe and wanting to build their influence in every part of the world. Militarism was used by Germany in an intrusive way. Germany used forceful and invasive way military strategy known as the Schlieffen Plan and increased their forces by 170,000 men. These uses of imperialism, nationalism, and militarism by Germany is what has led me to believe that Germany is to blame for WWI.

Who is to blame for Word War 1?
June, 28, 1914. The assesination of Franz Ferdinand, the Archduke from Austria-Hungary by an Bosnian Serb. Mabye he was to blame for Word War one but I think he dindn't tought or wanted it to became like that. Before that day, there were already some tensions in Europe but this incident was the last straw crowded. From this day forwards much in the world would change. This assesination was one of the major causes that caused Word War one.
After the assesination of Franz Ferdinand, Austria-Hungary declared war to Serbia. That caused a chain reaktion baucause of all the alliances the countries in Europe had. For example Germany and Austria-Hungary. So, when Austria-Hungary declared war to Serbia, Germany had to support Austria-Hungary becuase they had an alliance. But not just Austria-Hungary had alliances. When Austria-Hungary daclared war to Serbia, Russia, Great Britain, France and Iltay had to support them. Also, they where against Austria-Hungary's methodes of declaring war to Serbia.
In that time, almost whole Europe had a huge army or navy and they would expand and upgrade them more and more.( Britain for example had 32 balltechips) that caused armraces.
At that time, all countries where very interessted in expanding they land and so, their power. With occupying land, they would have all the recoureces of this land and so, they would have more money, power and space.
In my opinion, not just one countrie or person can be blamed for the outbrake of Word War one. There were several factors, that led to the Word War One.

WW1 conflicts Essay
9/29/13
Conflicts can be the most logical and based reason why WW1 happened. Of course to get countries against each other there had to be some type of reason behind it so that so much can happen like M.A.I.N (militarism, allies, imperialism & nationalism) these 4 acted behind these conflicts showing how each country raised from where they were at and went at war. But the main question here is, “who was responsible for WW1?” we cannot say for sure who is responsible except for the one who gave the world message to start this war, like Russia. Many countries that were not Euro-central have their version of the story but let us look at how everything started from a Euro-centric way. We get into a country that was blamed for the death of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. At that time, this country had many assassin groups and terrorist groups like the “black hand” who looked for deaths and only to terrorize people. But most of these actions where directed to Austro-Hungarian civilians. A group of Serbian teens where the ones responsible for the death of Archduke Franz Ferdinand but they didn’t know that their action would start a war. Of course it wouldn’t make since that the Serbian government would be the one to directly send assassins to kill the archduke since already they were trying to keep the conflict down between them and Austria-Hungary. After various months of the Archdukes death, Austria-Hungary took charge and blamed Serbia for this action which is where we see the flame starting to heat up the pan. Austria-Hungary was a big self diplomatic country, who believed on that but having this hard and painful death, they threw all of their countries values to a side and decided to attack directly at Serbia. Even if Austria-Hungary was a diplomatic country and well known for that, they were economically unstable and even worse, they ignored that Russia could get in at any given point and strike them for attacking Serbia. Having such a great power (at that time and till this day) like Russia really was the water added to the heated pot ready to vaporize. We can say that Austria-Hungary started this because of archdukes death or Serbia being responsible because of having all those assassin groups and terrorist; but if we look deeper we see that a huge country like Russia comes in which (at least to me) it represents that having such a great country come in gives a message to the world and countries who were looking towards Europe “wow! A country like Russia In there? It must be a huge issue so let’s get in this too!” such a message was what started everything here so I come in conclusion that the responsible one was Russia for giving such a message to the world. Germany, France Britain, United States among others got this message and acted; the hot water in the pot was vaporizing, it was the beginning of World War 1.

World War 1 -the Great War, WW1- started in 1914 and lasted until 1918. Four long years of fighting, deaths, injures, and arguments over territory. World War 1 ended with the Treaty of Versailles. This treaty was signed after World War 1 it was a peace treaty. All of the allies signed it. There are for major reasons why World War 1 started; alliances, militarism, imperialism, and nationalism. Besides those typical reasons for why World War 1 started another reason I have is the different relationships between the different countries. Why was this the cause for World War 1 you may ask? Well from all the notes I took during class I have come to learn that there were many countries that wanted many places in Europe. Some countries may have wanted the same places. Countries got along with others, and some didn't get along at all. The assassination was just a starting trigger to start World War 1. This assassination created Austria-Hungary to take control and invade Serbia. With Austria-Hungary trying to invade Serbia, Russia came and protected Serbia. Then Germany went to protect Austria-Hungary and fought with Russia. Then France went to protect Russia, so they went to war with Germany and Austria-Hungary. Finally England came in the war to protect France and Russia. World War 1 started because every country had a different relationship with other countries. Therefore they will not protect all of the countries. They will protect the countries they got along with and fight the countries that they had a problem with. In my opinion this is why World War 1 started.

Who is to Blame for ww1
In my opinion Serbia and Germany is to blame for the cause of ww1. Serbia was one of the causes because of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand assassination. Austria-Hungary issued an ultimatum to Serbia demanding that the assassins would go through justice. Serbia had declined the ultimatum, so Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. Russia took sides with Serbia and Germany took sides with Austria-Hungary, which made the war even bigger.
Germany was convincing Austria-Hungary to attack Serbia. Germany had a huge military and increased the military control. There was an arms race between Germany and Britain and there was also a plan called the von schlieffen plan, which was a plan where Germany was going to attack France through Belgium if Russia had attacked Germany. Germany had declared war on Russia and France declared war on Germany. Germany had many colonies in Africa and was competing against the French for the most land.

There were a lot of countries that tried to have power during the 1800s and 1900s. Europe had been dominated by five Great Powers which were known as Britain, France, Germany, Austria-Hungary and Russia. In my opinion, I believe that Germany was the one to blame for World War 1. Germany had been a chief rival at sea. In 1900 they had passed a navy law which task forced the German battle. Dreadnoughts were built during 1909 and 1911. Germany had widened the Kiel Canal to allow passage of dreadnoughts from the Baltic Sea to the North Sea. Germany had sided with Austria-Hungary and Britain in 1878 during that time Bismarck had chosen Austria to be allies. Soon enough Germany had tension between the powers. They had threatened the southern side of the Russian empire and the British Empire. Germany then wanted to build influence all over the world. They had one of the largest armies during that time. Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism and Nationalism had played a big role in the all countries but more especially in Germany. Germany was also known as Prussian. They united a group called Angelo-German Fellowship between the UK and Germany in 1935-1939. To unite the country they decided to make a foreign policy, Alfred Won Tirpitz was the one who requested the policy. Germany was one to blame because of how controlling they were, they wanted to have complete power.

Who was Responsible for World War One? Essay
There were a lot of reasons that World War 1 was started, but In June 28, 1914 I mostly think the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand started the whole conflict. A 19-year old Serbian nationalist named Gavrilo Princip was the murderer of Franz Ferdinand. This conflict made Austria-Hungary really mad and declared war on Serbia, which was supported by Germany. After a month, there were many different reactions in Europe with the nations arguing about the conflict that were going on between Austria-Hungary and Serbia that the nations in Europe declared war with each other and started the World War 1. I really think that not one nation should have been blamed for a war because mostly all of the nations did contributed and had a goal in the war. I think all the nations that were in the in the conflict should been blamed. First it was Austria-Hungary and Serbia starting everything with the problem of the assassination of Archduke, but Austria-Hungary really did not want to go to war. When Germany told them that they had their back no matter what the situation is, that is when Austria-Hungary was confident to go to war against Serbia because they knew that they have an advantage throughout the war with Germany having a stronger army. Then Serbia had to do something if they wanted to win the war, so they made a treaty with Russia, with Russia having their back. It was not enough that Russia brings along France and Great Britain; this made the whole conflict even worse with many other nations coming to help each other to win the war. The nations had a goal on having land, power, and respect.
All of the nations that was in the war used Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism (M.A.I.N) in some form of way. They all had main goals that were stated above land, power, and respect. So it is not fare to blame just one country for a war that mostly all of the nations contributed. I do not agree with the Treaty of Versailles blaming Germany for starting the whole conflict that became a World War, because the creators of the treaty; Lloyd George from Great Britain, Clemenceau from France and Woodrow Wilson from United Sates never gave Germany to say anything about the conflict and the “Big Three” were the nations that were against Germany throughout the war. So it was easy to say the treaty would blame it on Germany. In conclusion, mostly all the nations that were in the war should have been blamed not one nation because they all had the same goal and the Treaty of Versailles was not fare for Germany on taking the blame. The nations should have thought of another way of dealing the whole conflict than going to a World War.

Who is to BLAME for WWI?
In my opinion, I think that Germany is to blame for World War 1, because of the “blank check” given on June 6th, 1914; Germany gave Austria-Hungary support to attack Serbia and also pushed Austria to go to war. Germany believed that the confrontation would help strengthen their unstable neighbor in the South. Another cause was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, the death of a couple that lead by the Balkans. Because Austria-Hungary is not sympathetic to Serbia and the assassination made the relationship worse to go to war. By the time Austria-Hungary and Serbia gone for war, Germany had raised their militarism for a few times. German openly provoke to Great Britain and France for arms race and naval buildup. The Germany’s Schlieffen Plan was created by the General Count Alfred von Schlieffen in December 1905. It was an operational plan to attack on France once Russia responses the international tension and started mobilize forces near Germany border. It leads Britain to declare war on Germany. While the raise of industrialism countries needed new market cause Germany increases the land by entering the scrambled to acquire colonies. Re-unification led by strong nationalist elements in Italy in 1861 and Germany in 1871. At the end of the Franco-Prussian war left France angry at losing the Alsace-Lorraine to Germany. Germany desires the greater power and international influence, because their spark toward the arms race with Britain; responded to build new and greater warships, the Dreadnought.

In my opinion, I really think think the Assassination of Franz Ferdinand was the main cause for World War one besides the other four causes (Militarism, Alliance, Imperialism and Nationalism). The proof that i can provide the reader is the story of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand which is all over the web. After 1918 (when the war was finally over), there was a massive debate between the nations that participated the war on the "War guilt". The reason why i said "Massive Debate" was that before 1914 (when the war started) there were many other crisis happened similar to the assassination but none of them caused war, so why would this event cause World War 1? " General treatments of the Europe crisis of 1914 of then blame the Great Power statesman for their short shortsightedness, in competence or failure to act in a timely of effective way to keep the peace". This mean that countries Austria-Hungary and Serbia didn't work hard enough to keep the peace. Something interested was that both countries (Austria-Hungary) thought the same way as in "if we go to war we will win". Also both countries never realized the damage that would cost them if they lost the war, but what is this confusion all about? It all started with a plan made by Dimitrijevic Apis (He was the General for Serbian intelligence at that time). In 1917 Apis took the credit for planning the killing of Ferdinand, but at the end of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand did not mean a cause for a Great War. Austria-Hungary and Serbia didn't work hard enough to keep the peace. The royal couple (Franz Ferdinand and Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg) were a big "deal" to Austria-Hungarians, A-H wanted to give the Serbians a strong response, they didn't think hard enough before what they did.

Who Caused WW1?
I believe that Austria-Hungary is at fault for starting World War 1. Before we can think about the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, we must think about the relationship between Austria-Hungary and Serbia prior to that event. Austria-Hungary and Serbia were once allies before Austria-Hungary decided to take the initiative to annex Serbia. Austria-Hungary had occupied Bosnia. This territory had a majority of Serbian citizens living there and Serbians all over were very unhappy that Austria-Hungary was occupying their land. Relations between Serbia and Austria-Hungary continued to get worse until finally, Serbia decided to plan the assassination of Austria-Hungary’s Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Austria-Hungary responded to the assassination by sending Serbia an ultimatum that enforced many laws upon the Serbian citizens. Serbia rejected this ultimatum and in return Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. Since Germany was Austria-Hungary’s ally, Germany has to help defend Austria-Hungary. Russia was Serbia’s greatest ally and so Russia gave aid to Serbia. This was how the whole chain of alliances dragged many countries into battle which started the first World War If Austria-Hungary had never decided to occupy Bosnia and tried to maintain a peaceful relationship with Serbia, World War 1 could have possibly been prevented.

In my opinion I think Germany had blame for WW1. Germany was very demanding and wanted to have world power.Germany had a massive army to protect them but they used their army for aggression so that the other cities won't try to have a conflict with them since their army is so aggressive. Germany took over a lot of territories. They had a lot of power so other country’s looked at them like if you bothered them you was going to overpowered because their army was so strong. Germany promised Austria Hungary that if they go to war with serbia about the assassination they would support them. Germany was also the first to make the alliance system. The alliance was made with Austria Hungary. Germany wanted to build up their influence , there was a serious conflict with other countries. They used imperialism by invading france and russia. They used nationalism because of the powerful army they had. But what germany was trying to do was make austria hungary attack serbia. Germany was looking for trouble but they knew that they can do whatever they want because they was so powerful and nobody wanted to mess with the. This is my opinion of why Germany was the blame for ww1.

Who was Responsible for World War one ?
By going through the packet and feeling out the INM chart, my opinion on who started world war one was Germany to me. Reason why because I feel like Germany was a drag queen and felt like they were selfish. For example Imperlism, Germany wanted to take over the Balkans so they can build there empire up. Germany wanted to take over Africa to but couldn't because of France and Britain. This made Germany ego rise up because this is something Germany couldn't have. Germany ego and there pride got in the way. Whatever Britain or France did, they just had to do better. For example Britain and Germany was in a "arms race" with eachother. Both wanted to be number one, but for what cost just bragging rights. If Germany wasn't such an egotist, I think the war wouldn't happen. Another reason why Germany is the reason why for the start war because Germany wanted Austria to battle Sebria. How come Germany just couldn't mind there business, but no just causeing trouble all over. I just feel if Germany would of just stayed netrual about everything, war wouldn't even be an option. But no Germany let there ego and pride play a vital role of why the war started. Germany was like a big bad wolf thinking they had all the power, so Germany tried to bully and get stronger and so power blinded and made it worst. This is why I think world war one started because of Germany.
