World War II Story

February 18, 2014

Your February 18th blog, next Tuesday, consists of you writing a story about WWII to a 12-year old middle school student. This assignment forces you to THINK critically about your audience and how you will explain this war (and the vocabulary words you are required to use) to someone in that age group. Remember, a 12-year old is unlikely to be familiar with such terms as ally, axis, appeasement, etc. It is YOUR responsibility to use ALL of those terms in your story and explain them to an individual at that age level. BE CREATIVE!

There are 34 terms that MUST be used for this assignment. PLEASE be sure to bold or highlight each term in your story so that it stands out. I will hand these terms out in class for you to have. You will see the phrase Sig in your definitions – this term refers to Internet slang.

A rubric will be provided to you in class as well for this particular blog. Also, please remember that this blog MUST be uploaded to Turnitin.com and is due on Sunday, February 23rd at 9:00 p.m.

Well let me start off with the Allied Powers and Axis powers. The Allied were the team of France,Britain,USSR,USA and China. While the Axis had Germany,Italy and Japan. There were a small but a powerful team. But in World War considered the bad people in the war. For Hitler which was the leader of Germany wanted to help them up. They were under the treaty called the Treaty of Versailles which held Germany down for along time. The Remilitarization of the Rhineland was apart of the Treaty. At that time couldn't do nothing to Rhine, but Hitler had other plans and built Rhine up.

Germany was a powerhouse, because of the Blitzkrieg warfare which was Germany taking over land and countries…which brings me back to the places Germany took over which was Poland,Denmark,Norway,Belgium, the Netherlands and France. If you know a little about the World War One, Germany was in the struggle. Hitler back then was respected and feared, example of the S.S which protected him were ever he goes and the Anschluss which was a term from the Austria who well respected them and Hitler took it as loyalty. This made the Austria and Germany combine to speak the same language.

There was the appeasement that wanted peace but in reality it failed. Yes, it made Hitler take over Czechoslovakia which was another piece of land they got. As you can see Germany was coming up in World War two. The Munich Agreement which was another appeasement that didn't work with spark the World War Two. Czechoslovakia was a big population to Germany, and they didn't want to lose it. Hitler was a ruthless man, he thought of the Final Solution which would get rid of the Jews. Reason why buddy ? Cause he didn't like them, what so ever. Cool got it. The Wannsee Conference out of a nut shell was the killing of Jews and to Hitler they were trash.

Hitler cared for Germany, can say love Germany to death in his own way. This was Lebensraum which was living space, in which he wanted he did to. Member, he consumed all that space ? Good, means you listening. Also Hitler did something called Fascism but he did Nazism which is the same but not. Fascism is from Italy's own Mussolini. Now lets get into the battles that happened.

Okay, stay with me I'm going to go down the list with this one so hold on ! Or just sit down the same thing. The Battle of Britain showed that Germany wasn't all that powerful because Britain over matched them. The Battle of El-Alamein again when Germany got there butt kicked badly once again. But this lead to Italy an ally to Germany to plan an invasion to the Allies. The Battle of Guadalcanal was a battle were Japan got ran off from there own island. So sad, but what war does. The Battle of Iwo Jima were people died left and right so USA had to make a call to bomb Japan. P.S not to ruin it but they did.

Battle of Okinawa was the factor, of too many people dying so the USA had to do what they had to do. So the USA decided to bomb them. Japan started first because they bombed Pearl Harbor ! The Battle of Stalingrad is when Hitler's ego got the best of him because he didn't want to surrender. This also deals with the Wehrmacht, which I feel Germanys army went down cause a lot of people suffered. This was a battle in the winter, were Germany wasn't ready. The Battle of the Coral Sea was battle in the sea and air. Funny thing is not a single shot was fire. How come we don't have wars like that now ? Because of this Japan didn't get to invade Guinea.

  2. Luftwaffe was a term for Germanys air force. But compare to Britain's air force was wayy better, you feel me ? The last one the Battle of Britain were again Germany lost, so they set there sites on Russia. Yeah I know, a bunch of losers. There were operation barberossa were Germany failed to get rid of the USSR, but didn't so they went with the Allies a.ka the good guys. Another one was the operation overload was Germany getting into more trouble. This was the largest sea battle, and Germany was going against three forts. Forts meaning land again. My favorite operation and last one was operation sea lion !!!! Only cause I like how it sounds. Anyway's, it was a code only for Germans to take over Britain. But if you been paying attention, Germany couldn't handle them.

Lastly to finish this story, the Invasion of Manchuria this is when Japan attacked China because Japan was in a bad state. The Great Depression which was horrible, everybody as you can say was poor. Like I said Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, which made the USA come in the WW2, when they really didn't want to. But you already learned what happen to Japan. The war in USSR, made Germany retreat back to there homeland, doesn't it seem they been losing and running the whole time ? The D-Day invasion you can sum up the end of the war. The British and Americans cleaned house, which ended war in 1945. Hope from this little story you can understand world war two. I'm still learning so maybe I can come back and talk more.

During the 1930s to the 1940s a big war, known as World War Two, had happened. There were many people/countries involved in this war. One of the groups that were part of this war was the Allied Powers. The Allied Powers is a group of countries that were joined together by an agreement. The countries who were part of the Allied Powers were: France, the United States, Britain, USSR (A soviet union; which is a country that involved Russia), China, and like 45 other countries. The other group that was a part of this war was the Axis Powers. The Axis Powers is an alliance (they joined together) between Germany, Italy, and Japan. The Allied Powers fought against the Axis Powers. To shorten it up, the Allies won and the Axis Powers lost. Now to get into the starting of the war and everything that happened, there was a guy named Adolf Hitler, he was the leader of Germany. Adolf Hitler wanted to help Germany to get their power back. Around this time, they decided to make an appeasement. An appeasement is a plan that offers peace. This plan did not work with Hitler, he did not keep peace and he took over Czechoslovakia. During world war two, there were many battles. In the Battle of Britain in 1940, Germany failed to take over Britain. This showed that other countries, including Britain, could stop Germany. The Battle of El-Alamein happened in 1942. This was the battle where Britain won Germany. This battle made it easier for the Allied Powers to take over Italy. The Battle of Guadalcanal happened in 1942 to 1943. This battle took place in the Pacific and it was the battle in which the Allied Powers attacked the Japanese forces. The Allies won tis battle and forced Japan to leave the island. The Battle of Iowa Jima happened in 1945. This battle was a six-week U.S. invasion (to take over) of Japanese home islands. In this battle, the United States was sure that they had to use nuclear bombs in order to make Japan give up.

    ReplyDelete
  4. The Battle of Midway happened in June 1942. This was the battle that the U.S. navy won the Japanese fleet. The Battle of Okinawa was the last battle in the Pacific, and then they would head to take over the Japanese mainland. This battle made the U.S. decide to drop atomic (tiny) bombs on Japan. In the Battle of Stalingrad, which happened in 1942 to 1943, Germany was beaten. The Battle of the Coral Sea, in May 4 to May 8, 1942, was the first naval (sea) battle between the Japanese, Allied naval and air forces. Blitzkrieg was the word that Germany used to talk about “lightning war”. This term was used in the German military leading into Denmark, Belgium, Norway, Poland, France, and the Netherlands in 1939 and 1940. Fascism is a government system that is led by a dictator (absolute ruler). Fascism required people to lower self-interest (like pride) to the interest of race or the nation. The Final Solution was an order, made by Adolf Hitler in 1941, which would eliminate the whole Jewish population of Europe. This solution led to the Holocaust, which was the most cruel and dangerous part of WW2 for the Jews. Lebensraum was the word that Germany used for living space. Lebensraum started the Nazi Germany’s territorial aggression (invasion). This led to invasions of a lot of countries in Europe. The Luftwaffe was Germany’s air force. The Royal Air Force (RAF), which is Britain’s air force, beat the Germans. The Manhattan Project was a project that the U.S. used in order to set up atomic bombs. The Manhattan Project ended war with Japan and also led to the cold war. The Operation Barbarossa was another name for the German invasion of USSR. Germany failed to take over USSR, which led to the USSR joining the Allied Powers. The Operation Overload was another name for the Allied Powers invasion of northwest Europe from June 6, 1944 to August 19, 1944. This invasion led to the opening of the western front. In 1925 the S.S., which was a special police force in Nazi Germany, was set up to be a personal bodyguard for Adolf Hitler. The Wannsee Conference happened on January 20, 1942. The German officials met to talk about the final solution. Reinhard Heydrich (SS General) planned to dismiss Jews from Europe and French North Africa to send them to German busy areas in east Europe. The Jews were going to be used on labor projects until they died. The Wehrmacht involved the Luftwaffe, Heer (Army), and Kreigsmarine. The Wehrmacht was used to fight for the Nazi cause in WW2. The Yamamoto Isoroku was the Japanese navy group. They planned the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and the attack on Midway in 1942. The attack on Pearl Harbor caused the U.S. to enter WW2. The Invasion of Manchuria was Japan’s invasion of Manchuria, which was not stopped by anyone. The Remilitarization of the Rhineland was that Germany organized Rhineland for military use and France and Britain did not do anything to stop her. The Anschluss was a union (to come together) between Austria and Germany. The Munich Agreement was the invasion of Sudetenland. Sudetenland was a German population in Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia was divided in order to stay away from war. The order in which countries fell to Blitzkrieg Warfare was: Poland, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, and France. The Operation Sea Lion was another name for Germany to beat Britain. Germany’s main goal in this operation was to bomb the English Channel. The war in USSR was successful at one point but some battles, such as: Stalingrad and Kursk, led to a full departure (to leave) by German and Soviet forces. Last but not least, the D-Day Invasion happened. The D-Day Invasion was an attack by American and Britain forces on German-occupied France (also the coast of Normandy). This invasion caused the gibe up of the western front for Germany. This invasion also led to the end of the war in 1945 after the Soviets captured (occupied/ took over) Berlin. These are the battles, invasions, groups/countries, and things that happened and were involved in World War Two.

    WW2 Story

Once Upon a time, in the late 1930s to be exact, World War 2 happened. As stated on the name of the war, the war was huge. Many battles happened during that time including the following: Battle of Britain, Battle of El-Almein, Battle of Guadalcanal, Battle of Iwo Jima, Battle of Midway, Battle of Okinawa, Battle of Stalingrad and Battle of the Coral Sea. There were different reasons for the battles. For example, the Battle of the Coral Sea happened because the Allied navy wanted to stop the Japanese on advancing to New Guinea. The Allied Navy was made up of the following countries: France, Britain, United States, China and 45 more countries. The Allied powers were against the Axis powers. The Axis powers were made up of the following countries: Germany, Italy and Japan. Germany was very important during the war because of her leader, Adolf Hitler. He was a very selfish villain. Hitler used the term “Blitzkrieg” or “lightning war”during the war. That meant quickly going to Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands and France to fight. Hitler also used fascism. That does not mean the study of faces, it means to make a government in which people only care about the nation. In other words he wanted Germans to be selfish just like him. What was used to fight for the Nazi (Germans) was the Wehrmacht. This meant air force, army and navy. Adolf Hitler had a personal bodyguard called S.S. Hitler’s air force was called Luftwaffe and he used this to bomb countries like England. This was bad because it lead to the innovations of many countries in Europe was the term “Lebensraum” which means habitat in German. Many countries tried to keep peace appeasements (orders to keep peace) but that did not work with the villain, Hitler. This is because the Munich Agreement allowed Hitler to take Czechoslovakia for Germany. Hitler was so mean and did not care about what was right. I say this because under the Treaty of Versailles (a treaty if a peace agreement), which was the treaty that ended the first world war, Hitler was not allowed to fight in Rhineland and he still did it. This was called Remilitarization of Rhineland. Austria and Germany got together in the war and this is known as the Anschluss. Hitler wanted to kill all the Jews and the Final Solution was a part of his plan. The Final Solution was basically to find all the Jews and kill them. German officials got together in a meeting to discuss Hitler’s Final Solution. This meeting was called the Wannsee Conference. At the end of the meeting, they agreed with Hitler’s plan and eventually killed many Jews. What made the United States join the war was the Yamamoto Isoroku. That was the Japanese navy and they attacked the Pearl Harbor in 1941. That attack killed many Americans. Japan also invaded Manchuria. There were different operations during the war. For example, the Operation Sea Lion, Operation Barbarossa and Operation Overlord. In the Operation Sea Lion, Germany wanted to get Britain for herself. In Operation Barbarossa, Germany wanted to get the USSR for herself. In the Operation Overlord, the Allies went to Europe to fight Germany. There was a war in the USSR during the World War in which German and Soviet armies fought. The United States during the war made atomic bombs for protection. This was known as the Manhattan Project. Many countries fell because of the Blitzkrieg Warfare. The order was Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands and France. What ended the second world war was the D-Day Invasion. This is when the British and American armies attacked the Germans. In conclusion, the Second World War was a huge war and Hitler was the main villain of this story.

World War II was a war that lasted 6 long years. It started september 1st 1939 and it ended september 2nd 1945. In the war itself, there was two major teams, they were called ‘Allied Powers’ and ‘Axis Power’. Team Allied Power was made up of France, USSR(Russia), Britain, United States and China, these were the main countries but there were other 45 small countries along with them. Team Axis Power was made up of Germany, Italy and Japan, only three countries but they weren't to be underestimated. From my point of view or the way i see this war, the ‘bad guys’ in this war would end up to be the Axis power.
After World War I, Germany was put into a lot of pressure, they were blamed for causing the first ever World War, they had to pay reparation to other countries and well their power (Army, Navy, Air Force) were taken away. All of this hopeless feeling of Germany became to an end when the Nazis or Adolf Hitler took over the German Government. Hitler wanted to make Germany a better place to live but all of what he said didn't exactly happened as planned. It all started with the Remilitarization of the Rhineland which was when Germany rebuild their military all over again, they broke rules. Soon enough, the Nazis allied with the Fascist group, a group ran by Mussolini from Italy, Fascism was similar to Nazi, but Nazi was just a little more out of control towards some ideas they had. When the Japanese invaded the land of Manchuria, it was a bloody battle. The japanese invaded the Chinese because the Chinese had they resource the Japanese desperately needed. They succeeded the invasion and they became allied with the Axis Power. It made the Japanese look bad and they end being the aggressor.
Why did i mention Germany/Nazis as ‘bad guys’? because of the “Final Solution” The nazis were against the jews, they were racist with the Jews. Hitler, the leader of the Nazis group, they wanted to kill every Jew in the continent of Europe for no reason! This was also called the Holocaust. Million of Jew and other religions innocents were killed. Other actions made by the Nazis was Germany reuniting with Austria, this was called the Anschluss Hitler took Austria with not a single bullet fired. When Germany and Austria were reunited again it was called ‘The Anschluss’. Also an appeasement was failed when Germany attempted to gain power over Britain by battling over seas, the Munich agreement was also another failed appeasement. The Blitzkrieg Warfare was a order of small countries that were attacked by Germany, these countries were Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands and France. These attacks were set of attacks called Blitzkrieg which in German language meant “Lighting war”, Germany wanted to take the resources they had. All this invasion on other countries were motivations, this was called Lebensraum. Hitler was hated by many countries this meant that his life was in danger, he was guarded by S.S, this was a special police force, or a personal security for Adolf Hitler.
Yamamoto isoroku was the name for a surprise naval attack on the Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S. in 1941 with this attack, it dragged U.S. on to entering the World War II. The U.S. officially joined the Allied Power.

  7. During World War II, there were many battle between teams, Allied power and Axis power, Also something interesting was that all these battle had names! they were: Battle of Britain, Battle of El-Alamein, Battle of Guadalcanal, Battle of iwo jima, Battle of Midway, Battle of Okinawa, Battle of Stalingrad, Battle Of the coral sea, Luftwaffe, Operation Barbarossa, Operation Overlord, War in USSR and D-Day Invasion

-Battle of Britain: A battle between Germany and Britain in 1940, Germany fail to seek win, this meant that the most powerful nation that were causing trouble could be stopped.

-Battle of El-Alamein: Another battle between Britain and Germany in 1942 over Egyptian land which was where the Suez canal was located, a great region for trading.

-Battle of Guadalcanal: This battle was the Allied powers team against the Japanese in the islands located at the Pacific ocean, the Japanese were kicked of these islands.

-Battle of iwo Jima: This was an invasion of the U.S. Army onto the japanese islands in 1945 but the U.S had lost huge amount of lives, so they decided to attack the japanese with an atomic bomb. The creation of the first atomic bomb was called the Manhattan Project.

-Battle of Midway: A naval battle between the U.S. and Japan. U.S. won the battle. This was a very good advantage for the United States.

-Battle of Okinawa: The last main land owned by the japanese. U.S. estimated there would be an extremely high amount of soldiers dead. This was their final decision on to dropping an atomic bom into Japan and it was confirmed.

-Battle of Stalingrad: Battle between Russia and Germany from 1942 to 1943. Once again Germany failed to take over on of the main cities of Russia.

-Battle of the coral sea: Battle between Japan and the Allied Naval forces in 1942]

-Luftwaffe: The Nazis tried to bomb England but once again failed to do so, thanks to radars which detected near by enemies in the perimeter.

-Operation Barbarossa: It was an invasion of Germany into Russia in 1941, this was the largest attack known to World History up to date. Germany failed to take over, this was also the time when Russia joined the Allied Powers.

-Operation Overlord: Allied Powers invading the North West Europe in 1944, this invasion occurred on ocean.

-War in USSR: This was when Germany was forced to return back where they came from by the Russians! in 1945.

-D-Day Invasion: The U.S. and Britain hosted a serie of heavy attacks on Germany.

    World War II Story

World War 2 was a war in which many countries were involved. It was a war fought between the Allied powers and the Axis powers. The allied powers were made up of France, Britain, USSR, United States, and China as well as 45 other countries while the Axis powers were made up of Germany, Italy, and Japan. There are many reasons why World War 2 happened starting from the Treaty of Versailles (treaty that ended WW1) to the rise of Hitler and the Nazis. Although the Treaty of Versailles ended WW1, there were still many countries who were suffering from the aftermath one of these countries being Germany. The Treaty of Versailles enforced many restrictions and limitations on Germany which added to her suffering. It was these very restrictions and limitations that led Hitler to acquire Lebensraum, the German word for “living space”. Hitler’s quest for Lebensraum led to many invasions throughout Europe which he thought was necessary for the prosperity of Germany. In 1938, Germany occupied Austria to unite all German speaking people which was called Anschluss. Japan did something similar which was called the Invasion of Manchuria. Japan invaded Manchuria because it was filled with many resources Japan needed to survive.

In the years leading up to World War 2, the practice of Appeasement happened a lot. Appeasement is when a country obeys whatever the attacking nation tells them to do in order to avoid war. The Munich-Agreement is an example of how Appeasement failed most of the time. The Munich-Agreement gave Germany permission to occupy part of Czechoslovakia and promised to not take any more land. The reason why it was a sign of failure is because this did not satisfy Germany’s need to expand. Germany kept on invading countries for more land. There were also many extreme ideologies that came to be during this time such as Fascism, which is when a government takes pride in its nation and considers anyone outside of the nation irrelevant.

World War 2 officially kicks off with the Blitzkrieg, the German term meaning “lighting war”. This was when Germany’s military invaded Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, and France which officially initiated Word War 2. The Battle of Britain is probably one of the most important battles which were Hitler’s air force. Germany ultimately failed at trying to defeat Britain and it showed the rest of the world that Germany was capable of being beaten. World War 2 was also a time of great terror for people who were Jewish. In 1941, the Final Solution was created by Hitler and was a part of his new order. It called for the annihilation of the entire Jewish population of Europe. The Wannsee Conference was held on January 20, 1942 so that German officials could discuss the final solution. Reinhard Heydrich was the leader of the S.S., the special police force that served as the personal bodyguard for Hitler. With the approval of Hitler, Reinhard and his army killed off many Jews which eventually led to the Holocaust.

  9. There were a series of battles that happened throughout World War 2 like the Battle of El-Alamein for example, where Britain triumphed over Germany in Egypt. Yamamoto Isoroku was the navy admiral for Japan. He planned the surprised attack on Pearl Harbor which led to the US joining the war. It also led to the Battle of the Coral Sea which involved the naval forces of the Japanese and the allied powers. It was also the first battle where air fleets fought each other. There was also the Battle of Guadalcanal which is noted as the first allied counter attack against Japanese. The Battle of Iwo Jima was when the US invaded Japanese home islands for six weeks. At the Battle of Midway, the US navy triumphed over the Japanese fleet. The Japanese also lost four of their best aircrafts. In order to take control in the Pacific, the US needed to capture Okinawa so that they can move on and invade the Japanese Mainland. 15,500 people were killed at the Battle of Okinawa and over 50,000 were wounded. The Americans believed that an additional 250,000 people would be killed if they were to invade the mainland. With this estimation, the US decided that atomic bombs should be dropped on Japan.

The Manhattan Project began to take place shortly after. It was the top secret research and development of atomic bombs in the US. The US used their dropped their bombs on Japan who surrendered shortly after because of the bomb’s devastating effects. While Japan battled the allied forces on the sea, Germany struggled with the USSR on the Eastern Front. A lot of German forces for destroyed at the Battle of Stalingrad when they had failed to capture the city of Stalingrad in the Soviet Union. This battle marked the turning point of war on the Eastern Front. The Wehrmacht is German for “Defensive Might”. It was made up of Germany’s Luftwaffe (air force), Heer(Army), and the Kriegsmarine. It suffered great losses at the battle of Stalingrad because Hitler refused to give up. War in the USSR usually involved Germany. To the USSR’s luck, Germany usually failed like Operation Barbarossa for example. It was the German code name for the invasion of the USSR. Hitler wanted to defeat the USSR before winter rolled in. The operation failed because the USSR was too strong and wasn’t prepared for the fierce winter weather. The allies decided it was time to take on Germany. Operation Overlord was the code name the allies used for the invasion of Northwest Europe that started on June 6, 1944 and ended on August 19, 1944. It really put Germany in a difficult situation because now Germany had a war to fight on three fronts. Eventually, Germany had surrendered to the Allies.

This concludes my story of how World War 2 started from beginning to end. I hope that you learned a lot about all the battles I talked about as well as the reason why Countries like Germany did what they had to do in order to come out on top.

During World war 2 there were 2 groups just think of the allied powers as the good guys and the axis powers as the bad guys. The allied powers had France, Britain, USSR, and USA. The axis power had Germany, Italy, and Japan. In this situation the villains were stronger than the superheroes. The axis power would use appeasement to get what they wanted from other nations. For example the people of Czechoslovakia didn't work well with Hitler so he took their land.
The villains once had a weak point at the Battle of Britain ther Germans failed and that showed the world that Germany can be defeated. But after that the axis powers win the Suez Canal cause Italy defeated Japan in order to make way to the allied powers. That was called the battle of El-Alamein. Next the allied powers worked together and sent an attack on Japan and this made he Japanese forces abandon the island this got the name battle of Guadalcanal. The Germans had an Air Force called the Luftwaffe and it was used to bomb the allied powers. The allied powers thought of the manhattan project which was to bomb Japan and start the Cold War.
Than there was a big naval battle and this was the first fight were neither ships knew who was firing at who. This was a battle between the allied and the axis powers and this was called the battle of the coral sea. The Germans won a lot of wars faster because they used lighting war and they invaded Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands , and France and Hitler called this blitzkrieg. Hitler and the Nazi wanted to invaded the USSR because they had territorial aggression and that ment that they always had to have land and this was called Lebensraum. During the battle of Iwo Jima the only way the US could get Japan to surrender was to threaten them with nuclear bombs. Than the battle of midway happaned and this was a turning point for the US because it showed that they ruled the seas. The battle of Okinawa was the last battle we needed to win to have control over the seas and to start heading north to invade Japan.

  11. Germany lost many soldiers in the battle of Stalingrad because Hitler refused to surrender because he had lost many pervious battles. During World war 2 people like Hitler and Mussolini wanted a fascism type of world were one state is govern by a dictator. The Munich agreement was a failed plan for the good guys because it let the villains keep Czechoslovakia if they didn't try and take other land. Hitler was wanted by many good guys and he was scared so he hired two body guards and he called them Sam and Sammy or S.S for short. Than Hitler was able to get Austria to be loyal to them with partaking in battle this was called Anschluss. On January 20,1942 German officials talked about a plan to destroy the good guys and this happaned at the villains headquarters in Wannsee and this was the Wannsee conference.
Hitlers first order during the final solution was to destroy the innocent Jewish citizens of Germany. The Wehrmacht were the bad guys minons and they fought for the Nazi. The Japanese wanted revenge on the good guys so they decided to bomb Pearl Harbor and the leader of this was Yamamoto Isoroku he planned the attack on the US when this invasion happaned this is when nations started doubting the League of Nations because when the invasion of Manchuria happaned the league didn't do anything to stop the japanese. Under the treaty of Versailles Germany wasn't able to take the Rhineland. But Hitler broke the rules and did it anyways and Britain and France did nothing because Hitler caught them by surprised. This was called the remilitarization of the Rhineland.
Than the citizens of Austria and Germany wanted to speak up and have a say on what was going on so they created the Anschluss. The Munich agreement made the decision that Czechoslovakia was going to be divided. Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, and France fell into the blitzkrieg warfare. The Battle of Britain happaned a second time because Hitler failed the first time. During the war in the USSR a battle like Stalingard made the Germans and soviet forces retreat. Operation sea lion was the last trick that the villains had up their sleeves and that was to bomb the English Channel. The D-Day invasion was something that the villains and the good guys worked together to end the war. They gave up the western front and the war ended I. 1945.

The reason why World War 2 started in the first place was because of Germany and their attacks on other countries. Germany felt the need to attack other countries because they felt like they need more land. Hitler who was the leader of Germany had control over every German citizen and he basically planned the attacks. He was also racist against Jews and had a party called Nazis whose job were to get rid of the Jews. Hitler had his special bodyguard called S.S and he needed a body guard because there were many people who hated him. The Allied powers which mainly consisted of France, Britain, Russia, and the United States all worked together to stop the Axis powers. The axis powers were made up of countries such as Germany, Italy, and Japan, who abused their own citizens and wanted to take over the world which is basically the meaning of fascism.
So just look at it like this the allied powers wanted peace and the right thing for the world while the axis power wanted revenge and power. Wehrmacht had been made up of Luftwaffe, heer, and kriegsmarine who helped fight for the Nazis. In 1938 Austria had decided to join Germany and come together as one called Anschluss. This showed that Austria was loyal towards Germany and as a result it made them a stronger nation. Germany had felt confident and started invading countries such as Poland, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, and France where he was successful in his attacks and there is a term called Blitzkrieg which applied to this warfare. Hitler started attacking more countries because Hitler felt unstoppable. There was an appeasement that was used in order to make peace not start another war, so the appeasement had basically applied to Germany where Hitler’s demands had to be accepted. So as a result Hitler decided to over Czechoslovakia.
The Munich Agreement state that Germany could stay with Czechoslovakia if he promised not to take any more land but it turned out to be a failure agreement. Rhineland had also been a piece of territory that Germany fought for, this had been called the remilitarization of Rhineland. Luftwaffe was a strategy that Hitler used to bomb London using planes but it failed because the royal air force which belongs to the allied powers had radars which helped them a lot. Germany had a code to take over Britain by bombing the English canal, and this had been called Operation Sea Lion. There was a battle which had been very important called the Battle of Britain. Britain and Germany had fought in the air using planes to attack each other; the reason why I said it was important was because it showed everyone that Germany was not unstoppable.
The operation overlord had been the biggest sea invasion and it was located on the northwest of Europe. It had involved millions of troops; because of it Paris was freed. The Battle of El-Alamein took place in Egypt and it was a battle between Britain, Germany, and Italy. Britain had also won this battle with the help of its allied powers, Germany and Italy had no other choice but to surrender because they didn’t have enough people. Japan had bombed Pearl Harbor which was a territory that belonged to the United States; it was because of the bombing that America had entered World War 2 and this attack had been called yamamoto Isoroku. Not only did Japan bomb Pearl Harbor but they also had invaded Manchuria, which is part of china. In the battle of midway the Japanese had lost their four best aircrafts carriers, which was a good thing for the U.S because they gained confidence.

    ReplyDelete
  13. The battle of the Coral Sea had been a huge naval battle, which happened in the pacific theater of Japan and it was a battle between the allied powers and Japan. It had been the first battle where each side had came to an agreement without shooting fire. There was an island called Guadalcanal in the pacific that was owned by the Japanese, since Japan had bombed the United States the allied powers had invaded the island and forced the Japanese army to leave their own island. The allied powers used the island as a base and this battle was called the Battle of Guadalcanal. The Battle of Iwo Jima was a similar battle to the one I said before; America had attacked the Japanese once again and had succeeded. Okinawa had been the last Japanese base in the pacific and it was the United States next target before they decided to bomb Japan. In The Battle of Okinawa the U.S. had expected lots of people to die, which is why they decided to bomb Japan. The Manhattan project was a project about making the atomic bomb that helped end the war with Japan but as a result of the bomb it had led to the cold war.
Back to Germany, Operation Barbarossa was the name for the German invasion in Russia because he believed he could capture all of the Soviet Union before the winter weather. Hitler was getting out of control with his attacks on countries for example he attacked the city of Stalingrad in the Soviet Union and failed to because of the winter weather and weren’t well prepared for it; this had been called the Battle of Stalingrad. Lebensraum had motivated Germany to invade multiple countries because it meant living space and that’s what they believed in. War in USSR had been a bad idea because it was basically a waste of time since the lost and were in a bad situation because of all the men they lost. The wannsee conference had been about a meeting between the German officials where they discussed about deporting Jews from Africa to German territory.
Hitler’s Final Solution to get rid of the Jews was to create a system where Jews would be exterminated no matter where they were, and as a result the holocaust had begun which was about how Jews were out into concentration camps and then killed. To finish this off the D-Day invasion had been the last step to finish World War 2. The British and American forces had launched bombs on the German western front which had really affected them. Soon after the attacks on the western German fronts, the Soviet Union had captured Berlin which left the Germany to damaged to keep fighting so they had no choice but to surrender and Hitler had killed himself. This is all the important events you need to know about World War 2.

    World War 2 Story

I am going to tell you a story about World War 2 how it all began and how it all ended. Many Countries and groups were involved in this huge war. Countries worked together on getting land or protecting it for their team; it was like they were playing capture the flag, one has to protect their flag and the other is trying to capture it. One of those groups were the ALLIED POWERS, it was made out of powerful countries like the United States, France, Great Britain, USSR (It was Soviet Unions that was a part of Russia), China, and other 45 countries that you probably do not want me to bore you by saying them all. They were trying to protect each other from the other groups from attacking and invading. Then there was the other group, which was called the AXIS POWERS. It was an alliance group that joined together of wanting to be more powerful and to be well respected. The country that was in the Axis Power was Germany, Italy and Japan. So let me summarize it short, so the Allied Powers was the good guys and the Axis Powers was the bad guys, which these two groups hated each other and wanted to dominate the other. The Allied Power won the battle and the Axis Powers were the losers, but that was not the start of World War 2, what I am going to tell you are the battles, plans and invasions that will explain to you how the war became a worldwide problem.

There was this powerful German leader who was determined and wanted Germany to become a Powerful country that other countries around the world should be scared, this man is well known in many history classes that you will probably learn more in high school called Adolf Hitler. Adolf Hitler’s main goal was to help Germany bringing their power back because during the heated rivalry between the Allied and Axis Powers, Germany became a weak country and the economy was going down. So Hitler decided to do was make an APPEASEMENT, which was a plan that Hitler wanted to offer peace to his rival countries, but the plan did not work because he did not keep his pinkie promise to the rival countries and took over the land of Czechoslovakia. During World War 2, there were many battles that happened and became more internationally involved. Brace yourself while the battles that I will be explaining will blow your mind that it will sound like war movies. The first battle was the BATTLE OF BRITAIN in 1940, Germany was trying to attack Great Britain with planes and bombs, but it did not worked out good for Germany because it showed how weak Germany was as an army by them failing to attack Britain. Many German rival countries thought Germany was no threat. Then in 1942, the BATTLE OF EL-ALAMIEN happened, which Britain had won over Germany and it made it easier for the Allied Powers to take over their rival country Italy. Another battle was the BATTLE OF GUADALCANAL that happened in 1942 to 1943. It was a battle for an island in the Pacific that was taken over by Japan and the Allied Powers did not want Japan to be in the island. So the Allied Powers attacked the Japanese forces and won the battle and forced Japan to leave the island. The BATTLE OF IWO JIMA in 1945 was the U.S. taken over the Japanese home islands for six-weeks. The battle made the U.S. use nuclear bombs in order to make Japan give up. So there were many explosions that happened in this battle, like common the U.S. used nuclear bombs on Japan, I would done the same thing as given up like Japan did; I do not want my body to get exploded.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Alright the next battle is the BATTLE OF MIDWAY in June 1942. U.S. won again and it was against the Japanese fleet, and the U.S. took out Japanese four best aircraft carriers. The U.S. was dominating Japan. Then there was another battle with Japan and it was called the BATTLE OF OKINAWA, which was the last battle that was being fought in the pacific. There were so many deaths during the invasion of the mainland for the U.S. that they made up their mind and decided to drop atomic bombs. The U.S. really looked like they were prepared of going in so many battles with Japan; the U.S. army looked unstoppable during these battles. Alright just two more battles. The BATTLE OF STALINGRAD in 1942 to 1943 was Germany being beaten by not a country, but it was beaten by harsh weather that affected the way of capturing the city of Stalingrad in the Soviet Union. Last battle is the BATTLE OF THE CORAL SEA in 1942 at May 4 to May 8; it was the first naval battle in history, which was a battle that happened in the sea or in water between Japanese, Allied Naval and Air Forces. It saved Port Moresby and stopped the Japanese from going to New Guinea.

Now I am going to tell you some important information about how countries had plans or ideas that was made during WW2. BLITZRIEG is a German word that meant “lighting war.” Germany used the term in the military of leading into Denmark, Belgium, Norway, Poland, France, and the Netherlands in 1939 and 1940 to take over countries. FASCISM is a government system, which was led by a dictator, a powerful ruler; it’s the as a president but had more power than the president. Fascism made people to lower their pride to have an interest of a race or nation. Adolf Hitler made in order that was made in 1941 and it was called the FINAL SOLUTION. The final solution led to the Holocaust that was really horrible and scary event that Hitler treated the Jews harshly and ended up killing them all. The Jews could not do anything about it because Hitler was to powerful. LEBENSRAUM made the Nazi German army to invade a lot of territories from other countries in Europe. The LUFTWAFFE was Germany’s air force and the Royal Air Force or R.A.F. was Britain’s air force which ended up beaten Germany’s air force. The MANHATTAN PROJECT was a way of ending a war with Japan and led to another war, which was called the Cold War. OPERATION BARBAROSSA was like a code name for Germany invading the USSR. It was the largest operation in human history, so there was a lot of massive attacks and deaths during this operation. The operation failed and made the USSR to join with the Allied Powers, which made the Allies much stronger. Then there was another operation that was called OPERATION OVERLOAD, which was a code name for the Allied Powers invading the Northwest of Europe from June 6, 1944 to August 19, 1944, which led to an opening of the Western Front. I forgot to tell you that Adolf Hitler had his own personal bodyguards for protecting. They were called the S.S. a special police force of the German Nazis. The WANNSEE CONFERENCE happened on January 20, 1942 was a conference that German officials were talking about a final solution. So a S.S. general named Reinhard Heydrich had a plan of dismissing Jews from Europe and French North Africa to be sent in Germany’s busy areas in the east of Europe. They were going to use the Jews for labor projects, but sadly the Jews mostly died. The WEHRMACHT was involved with the Germany’s Luftwaffe, Heer (An army) and Kreigsmarine. It was used to fight during WW2 for Germany, but it was a loss for Germany because Hitler did not want to give up on the Battle of Stalingrad. The YAMAMOTO ISOROKU was a Japanese navy in 1942 that attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, which killed so many Americans that the U.S. got mad and entered WW2 to get some payback. I already explained to you the battles that the U.S and Japan had, which the U.S. mostly won.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The INVASION OF MANCHURIA was Japan invading a place in China that no other countries wanted to stop the situation that it caused many deaths; eventually the Japanese army used the Chinese heads to play soccer. The Japanese were that crazy! The REMILITARIZATION OF THE RHINELAND was when Germany wanted the Rhineland area as use for military even though they were not supposed to, but no one wanted to stop Germany, not even Germany’s two rivals: France and Britain. THE ANSCHLUSS was these people from Austria and Germany that worked together as teammates. The MUNICH AGREEMENT was getting the Sudetenland area in Czechoslovakia to avoid war, but it ended up being divided. There were countries that FALLEN TO BLITZRIEG WARFARE, it was Poland, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands and France. The OPERATION SEA LION, do not get your hopes up, there was no Lion in the sea. Germany’s goal was to bomb the English Channel and take over Britain. The WAR IN THE USSR was successful in the beginning, but battles like Stalingrad and Kursk was leading up the German and Soviet Forces to leave the war. I am almost done explaining so many battles, plans, and invasions that happened in WW2, but finally the last thing is the D-DAY INVASION. It was an attack by the American and Britain forces on German-occupied France and the coast of Normandy. The invasion made Germany give up their western Front and led the end of WW2 in 1945 when the Soviets took over Berlin.

That was the whole story about WW2, I think, but you will learn more in high school and how it became an important war in world history. So I hope what I had explained to you everything about each battles, invasions, plans, alliances, and countries that was involved in WW2. You should use this information as a good use in the future, but mostly in high school, trust me. Good luck in middle school!

A Story About World War 2

During ww2 there were a lot of countries that took place. The Allied powers were known as the good guys and the Axis powers were the bad guys. The reason why the allied powers were the good guys was because they had fought and won the axis powers. The axis powers were the people that wanted to hurt the countries such as Germany for example. There was a lot of battles that also took place such as : Battle of Britain, Battle of El-Alamein, Battle of Guadalcanal, Battle of Iwo Jima, Battle of Midway, Battle of Okinawa, Battle of Stalingrad, Battle of the Coral Sea. All of these battles were very different and had reason of why they all started. For example the Battle of Britain happened in 1940 it was because Germany had failed to destroy Britain. That showed that anybody could win over germany. The Battle of El-Alamein took place in 1942 when Britain won germany. The Battle of Guadalcanal took place in during 1942-43 it was about when the Allied counters attacked the Japanese forces. The Battle of Iwo Jima happened in 1945 it was about a six week invasion so that they could “take out the japanese industry”. They had to use “nuclear bombs” so that the japanese would give up and not come back. The Battle of Midway happened in June 1942 it was about how the japanese “lost four of their best aircraft carriers”. After that happened they seen that America has now took over the “offensive in the pacific theater”. The Battle of Okinawa was the “last key stronghold in the pacific”. They would also “Invade” meaning to enter forcefully as an enemy and take over japanese mainland. The Battle of Stalingrad took place during 1942-43 it was when germans forces were defeated. That was because Hitler “refused to surrender” meaning that he didn’t want to give up. The Battle of the Coral Sea went through may 4-8 in 1942 it happened because the allied navy wanted to stop the japanese advances on New Guinea. Anschluss was used to show that “ austrias was loyal to germany” and that Hitler could take any country without any problem. The anschluss were the people who “reunite” the speaking people from germany . The meaning of reunite is to unite again (bring together). But when Appeasement came it showed that Hitler couldn’t handle it and had to take “czechoslovakia”. Hitler had used a term called “Blitzkrieg” meaning lightning war. Germany had won a lot of wars they invaded Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, and France. All that was called Blitzkrieg. Hitler also used “Fascism”. Fascism was use to “create a single-party state with the government”. It was so people could lower their self-interest. Lebensraum was used as “living space” for Germany. The Nazi were “motivated” by this, it started the territorial aggression. Hitler's air force was called the “Luftwaffe”. He used his air force to try to bomb “England into to submission” but it failed. That also lead people to see the germans “ planes” and the British being unable to be defeated all of that just lead to more problems later in the war. The Manhattan project was used to create and develop “atomic bombs” that was used to end war with Japan but then lead to war with “ear-the cold war”. Then the Munich Agreement came in 1938 it was a symbol. That symbol has failed because appeasement didn’t work. Appeasement means to bring a state to peace and that didn’t

  18. happen because world war 2 started. The agreement also made czechoslovakia “divide”. Operation Barbarossa was a “code name” used for Germany of the invasion of USSR. But once again germany had failed and the USSR had joined the allies. They joined the allies because Hitler had believed that he could win them but he couldn’t. Operation overlord was also a “code name” for D-day. The name was used for the “allied invasion of northwest Europe” that started on June 6, 1944 and finished on August 19.1944. All of this lead to opening the “western front” and the germans were now fighting “three front wars”.The D-day invasion was about forces that were launched in “germany”. The the western front for germany was given up and that caused the war soon to end. Operation Sea Lion this was also a “code” but it was used to overcome by force against Britain but what they mostly aimed for was to bomb the “English channel” it was what they really wanted to do. During world war 2 they had “S.S.” which was a special type of police force that was used by the “Nazi” and germany founded it as personal “bodyguard” meaning someone that can protect them. The Wannsee Conference happened on 1/20/1944 this is where germany had a meeting to “discuss the final solution”. This was used as a form to show the plan of killing the “jews”. Hitler came up with a “Final Solution” it was part of Hitler’s (new order). He wanted to get rid of the “germany of jews” this was the last of the Jews for world war 2. Wehrmacht used the air forces as well. It was a big fight that Hitler didn’t give up too and the battle was of Stalingrad , hitler had to show how powerful he was. The Invasion of Manchuria also took place it was when the Japanese came in by force in Manchuria, the “league of nations” was there but did not do anything to stop it they just let it continue. Yamamoto Isoroku was a “surprise attack” upon Pearl Harbor and on Midway this all caused the “US” to get involved in world war 2. The Remilitarization of the Rhineland was from Hitler to “militarize the territory” meaning he wanted to make “military”. And the British and France didn’t want to have any part in it. The War in USSR was a “retreat” to germany because they got into the home territory in 1945 because of their leaded Hitler not giving up.

World War 2 was a war that happened between 1939-1945 which was very violent and came after World War 1. Many of the events that occurred during WWII were scary and ended in the deaths of many innocent people. One of the people who caused all this horror was Adolf Hitler along with the Nazis. The Nazis were a group who helped Hitler in carrying out all of his horrible plans. It was said that Adolf Hitler was the person who caused the Second World War. Hitler was a terrible person who wanted to murder all Jewish people as well as other groups of people in Europe because he thought they were weak and not as powerful as the pure Germans. Pure Germans are people who aren't Jewish or of mixed races. Hitler called the killing of all Jewish people the Final Solution which began happening in 1941 and this created the Holocaust. The Final Solution was a part in WWII that had a large number of deaths. The plan for the Final Solution was created in a conference which is a meeting between German officials called the Wannesee Conference. After all this bad Hitler did you would think that he would need security right? Hitler did have security who were known as S.S. The S.S. were special police force founded in 1925 to serve as Hiter's personal bodyguard. I believe Hitler would've been killed if he didn't have security.Hitler also felt that the Germans deserved Lebensraum which is translated to living space or habitat. Since I'm on the topic of bad but powerful leaders, I'll now discuss Mussolini. Mussolini was apart of the Fascism movement which was an ideology that forces people in a country to follow rules that are set by a leader. During WWII there were many alliances between a number of countries. An alliance is when two or more countries come together to face an issue or an enemy together. For example, one of the alliances involved in WWII was the Allied Powers which was made of more than 40 countries including France, Britain, USSR, United States, and China. The Allied Powers wanted to stop the Axis Powers and were successful. They were also able to stop Hitler and the Nazis. I will now explain what the Axis Powers are. The Axis Powers was another alliance that included Germany, Italy, and Japan. In the end, the Axis Powers only hurt Germany. Anschluss was kind of an alliance between Austria and Germany because they came together and Germany occupied Austria not really invading it. When I say occupied I don't mean invade I mean to settle down. Germany was one of the most powerful countries during WWII. She was able to invade a lot of countries and didn't suffer from losses too often.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Blitzkrieg which is a German term that means "lightning war" was a term created to show how fast German military were invading Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, and France in 1939 and 1940. The invasion of these countries was the Order of Countires Fallen to Blitzkrieg Warfare. Now that I think about, I believe there were other countries that were also powerful during WWII. For example, Great Britain was able to beat Germany. Germany tried to weaken Great Britain in 1940 in order to invade them. The Battle of Britain was Germany trying to take control of Britain but failing. Germany failing showed the world that it was possible for Germany to be stopped. Hitler tried to bomb England by using his air force called Luftwaffe. The Germans were beaten by the Royal Air Force which was Britain's air force. This was also known as Operation Sea Lion. Britain was also successful in the Battle of El-Alamein. This battle happened in 1942 and ended in Britain beating Germany in Egypt. This battle also helped the Allied Powers invade Italy. Wehrmacht was made up of Luftwaffe, Heer(army), and Kriegsmarine during WWII. It was used to fight for the Nazis but was unsuccessful. Hitler had many plans and another one of those plans was Operation Barbarossa. Operation Barbarossa was a code name for Germany's invasion of USSR and War in the USSR. This operation was to be carried out in the spring of 1941 but was delayed untill June. The operation didn't happen until the winter and that made Germany lose to the USSR. Germany wasn't prepared to fight in winter conditions. The USSR then joined the Allied Powers after Germany failed to invade them. Germany also attempted to capture the city of Stalingrad which was in the Soviet Union(USSR) but failed because they were battling in the winter. Germany's attempt to capture Stalingrad was known as the Battle of Stalingrad which happened between 1942-1943. Appeasement didn't work with Hitler. Appeasement is agreeing to another nation's demands in order to keep peace. Hitler then took Czechoslovakia after failing with appeasement. The Munich Agreement was created in 1938 which says that Germany was able to take part of Czechoslovakia and had to promise they wouldn't take anymore land. This was very unfair because Czechoslovakia had no choice or say in the invasion of the country. Germany was also not able to carry out the Remilitarization of the Rhineland. Germany wasn't able to militarize the Rhineland because of the treaty of Versailles. The treaty of Versailles told Germany what they could and couldn't do. Operation Overload which was also known as the D-Day Invasion was the Allied Powers' attempt to invade northwest Europe. The operation began on June 6; 1944 and ended on August 19, 1944.

  21. Now enough about Germany. I am now going to talk about the United States of America and Japan. These were two very powerful countries involved in WWII. Japan was involved in many battles throughout WWII. The Japanese were less successful and more unsuccessful. They were successful in the Invasion of Manchuria. In this invasion Japan was able to invade Manchuria which was an area that belonged to China. One of those battles was the Battle of Guadalcanal happened between 1942-1943. This battle was fought in the pacific and was between Japan and the Allied Powers. Another battle fought between the Allied Powers and Japan was the Battle of the Coral Sea which happened during 4-8 May 1942. This battle stopped japan from invading New Guinea and saved Port Moresby. The Allied Powers were victorious. Another battle was the Battle of Midway. This battle happened in June 1942 and the US were the ones who were successful. Japan lost weapons in this battle. The Battle of Iwo Jima and the Battle of Okinawa were the two battles that convinced the US that they should drop atomic bombs on Japan. The US entered WWII because of the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. The attack on Pearl Harbor was planned by Yamamoto Isoruko who was the Japanese navy admiral. The US planned to attack Japan back by bombing Japan with atomic bombs. The planning to bomb Japan was created by the Manhattan Project. The Manhattan Project was a secret research and development project made by the US to create the atomic bombs. The bombings in Japan ended the war with the United States and Japan. All of these events I explained played a huge part in the development of WWII and the outcomes.

    WW2 Story
World War 2 consisted of two major groups; there was once a group of Allied Powers which involved countries such as: France, Britain, United States, China, and USSR and plenty of more. Hitler had requested a startling invasion for Russia, which led Russia to join the Allied Powers and go against the Axis Powers. They created this group to simply protect themselves between the Axis Powers which was known as another group. The Axis Powers were treaties that involved Germany, Japan and Italy during 1936-37, this was known as the “Rome-Berlin-Tokyo Axis”. The United States wanted to stay neutral but then they got hit by Pearl Harbor by the Japanese so they decided to join the Allied powers and also went against the Axis powers. There was a lot of damage done to the Axis powers since the Allied powers had three main leaders which were willing to do anything in their power to take over. The three leaders were known as: Winston Churchill he was known as a prime minister of Great Britain, Franklin D. Roosevelt which was president of the United States, he helped the country get out of the Great Depression, And lastly Joseph Stalin which was Russia’s General Secretary of the Communist party (socialists). The Anschluss was created to join both Austrians and Germans in an union. They manage to do as much in their power as they can to defeat the Axis powers. S.S. was known as SchutzStaffel; their job was to protect Hitler at all times. Soon after Hitler had declared an Anschluss also known as a union involving Germany and Austria, during the 1930s Hitler decided to begin this process although he didn’t have permission from the Austrian social democrats. Austrian Chancellor Kurt von Schuschnigg had then agreed with Hitler in 1938, he mainly did it because he thought that it would stop an attack for Germany. Hitler wasn’t really satisfied he wanted more, he wanted to place armies together but Schuschnigg was not liking the thought of that. So Schuschnigg ended up rejecting the agreement and resigned. An Appeasement (state of peace) was later offered; they decided to do this to end conflicts between countries. There were nine battles in total during World War 2, they were known as: Battle of Britain, Battle of El-Alamein, Battle of Guadalcanal, Battle of Iwo Jima, Battle of Midway, Battle of Okinawa, Battle of Stalingrad, Battle of the Coral Sea, and the Battle of Britain. These battles all made a huge impact in World War 2 during the 1940s.

  23. Each of them either had negative or positive outcomes impacting WW2. Later on Fascism was introduced; Fascism was known to be a nationalistic system of government and social organization. Fascism was a way of dictatorship, Mussolini and Hitler being the two dictators in this case which brought Italy and Germany together which all comes back to the Allied and Axis Powers. Hitler and Mussolini had joined together to support one another. But then Italy got attacked in 1943 causing them to get rejected. The Munich Agreement was suppose to be a settlement of peace by Germany and Czechoslovakia stating that they would stop taking land from them, but Germany had tricked Czechoslovakia because they seem to continue to grow. The Munich Agreement was intended to separate both Germany and Czechoslovakia so that they wouldn’t have any conflicts with one another. The Operation Barbarossa was a massive attack by the Germans to Russia; this attack was led by the Blitzkrieg. The Blitzkrieg was considered “Lightning war” to Germans; this took place when Germany had the advantage to overpower countries during 1939-40. Orders of Countries Fallen to Blitzkrieg Warfare was: Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, France and Netherlands. Yamamoto Isoroku was very significant; he was the mind master planner behind the invasion of Pearl Harbor. The Final solution was a very cruel part of World War two which started in 1941; it was created mainly for the Jews in Germany during the time because Hitler wanted them out. Resulting to the Wannsee Conference which was meant to transport Jews and kill them so that there would be absolutely no Jewish in Germany. He decided to make concentration camps to put the Jewish in this led to the Holocaust. Lebensraum which means “habitat” or “living space” for Germans, this involved plenty of attacks throughout Europe causing determination towards Germany. Germany was trying to take over Britain so badly that they just wanted to simply destroy them by bombing them up; this was known as the Operation Sea Lion. The Luftwaffe was considered a failure by Hitler because his plans didn’t go as he wanted; this led more trouble between Germany and Britain because of the failure towards defeating Britain. This caused a great loss due to Wehrmacht (a “defensive might”). Operation Overload began in the summer of 1944 and lasted about two months; it was a very huge sea attack for transporting. That simply led the D-Day Invasion (code name for the Allied invasion of Northwest Europe), this was an attack between British and Germans as well as France which led to the end of the war in 1945. The Manhattan Project was a secret research development project by the U.S to develop the atomic bomb. They planned this to find a way to make a well develop bomb in order to destroy as much as possible. The Invasion of Manchuria was a part of China; the League of Nations was against it and didn’t try to prevent it. Hitler wasn’t allowed to control Rhineland but still he managed to do so without anyone stopping him, although it was allowed due to the treaty of Versailles, this was known as Remilitarization of the Rhineland. The battles which involved Stalingrad and Kursk were successes towards the Germans, this was called the War in USSR, and it was a very successful outcome.

So, WW2 was a war between two groups of countries: the Allies (Russia, Britain, China and the US) and the Axis (Germany, Italy and Japan). Chances are you have heard about Hitler right? About him and his “Final Solution” plan which said that all Jews had to be killed. By the way, the Final Solution came because of the Wannsee Conference where the Germans discussed what to do with the Jews. They say that he was the reason WW2 started, and they are pretty much right. He was a dictator in Germany and he believed in Fascism, a form of government that had only one party and controlled everything. The Allies did not like this because he used violence and wanted war to help Germany. Hitler actually managed to get some of his goals done without using violence. For example, he needed Lebensraum (living space) for his German people, so his best bet was to unite with Austria, which was loyal to Germany and united. The union between Austria and Germany was called Anschluss. Now Hitler wanted to take Czechoslovakia, and the British wanted to stop them. The British wanted to stop Hitler but had this policy called Appeasement, which meant that they would let other countries get what they wanted to prevent war. The British made the Germans sign the Munich Agreement which made the Germans pinky-promise to not take any more land after Czechoslovakia. Hitler decided he wanted to take Poland afterwards. Poland did not want Germany to even get close so they got France and Britain to protect them in case Germany invaded. Germany kept breaking promises and sent soldiers into the Rhineland, they kept doing the opposite of what they were told because the Allies never did anything. Germany went to war with Poland and used their famous Blitzkrieg (lightning war) tactics to take Poland fast. The Allies got fed up and declared war on Germany. This is how WW2 began.
After WW2 began, Hitler took more countries, like Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Holland and parts of Africa. He finally decided to invade France. Germany was very powerful, they had the Wehrmacht (military force) which was the best military of the world at the time and a powerful police force, the S.S. The Wehrmacht was made of the famous Luftwaffe (air force), the Heer (tanks and troops) and the Kriegsmarine (navy). Hitler took France quickly because the French were too confident. The remaining Allies were in Britain, so Hitler sent the Luftwaffe to attack Britain and win the war. The Allies and Germany fought the Battle of Britain which happened in the air mostly. Hitler did not expect the Allies to resist so well and had to call off the attack.
Meanwhile, the Germans were being driven out of Africa. The British took Egypt back from the Germans and got the Suez Canal. With the Suez Canal, they could invade and defeat Italy.
Soon after, Yamamoto Isoroku from Japan planned and executed the attack on Pearl Harbor. This made the United States enter the war. The United States fought the War in Europe and Asia. In Asia they fought the Battles of Guadalcanal, Midway, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and the Coral Sea. In Europe, the USA helped the Allies take back France in the D-Day operation or also known as Operation Overlord. They managed to take back France because Germany was weak. The Germans became weak because they attacked Russia in Operation Barbarossa, but the winter killed many soldiers and they lost even more at the Battle of Stalingrad, where the Germans had to retreat because the Russians were too strong.
The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was not the first bad thing they did, before that they invaded Manchuria (China) and did horrible things there. To defeat the Japanese quickly and pay back for Pearl Harbor, the United States began the Manhattan project and developed the atom bomb. They dropped these bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Quickly, the Japanese surrendered.
The Axis were defeated soon after. Italy got defeated (because Mussolini is not a good leader) and Hitler was too weak to fight and surrendered in 1945, ending the war.

    WW2 Story

The treaty of Versailles was the peace settlement that put an end to the first world war. The treaty was very unfair for Germany everything that it had gain from the first war it had lost, land, colonies, resources, military power and its allies,( countries that took Germany’s side and fought alongside Germany in battle. The second world war started on September 1, 1939. Almost every country was in it. The countries were divided into two groups, The allied powers: France, Britain, USSR, United States, China and 45 other countries that did not agree with the other Group the axis powers. The axis powers were Germany, Italy, and Japan. You can view the allied powers as the good guys and the axis powers were the bad guys. What sparked the War was The invasion of Manchuria. This was when the Japanese due to the great Depression lacked, resources and its economy was at risk and also the number they had was also growing. They needed a more land for their people, so they went and took control of Manchuria which was part of China to spread out their population and also because it had what they needed to keep their economy going. The allied powers did not do anything to help the Chinese and stop the Japanese from taking over.
When Hitler came into power he was under the protection of the SS .The SS was a Nazi German police force that serve as Hitler’s personal Bodyguards.During that time Germany was under the Re-militarization of the Rhineland Rule, which was set by the versailles treaty. This rule did not allow Germany to make a military in Rhineland which was a place in Germany. But that did not stop Hitler because he still went and made one. He had no one to stop him. the allies did not do anything to stop so he just went for it. Hitler wanted Lebensraum, which means living space. Hitler used this word as an excuse to go and take other country;s land with force and no permission. Hitler wanted to expand Germany, because its population was growing very fast. Germany wanted to unite all the German speaking people this was called Anschluss. Austria feeling a sense of loyalty to Germany because of the partnership they had during the first world war didn't have any problem with letting Germany take over it and its land. It was an easy win for the Germans. The Munich Agreement was an agreement made in 1938 that let Germany control some parts of Czechoslovakia ,Sudetenland which had a large amount of Germans in it. This agreement ended with Germany promising not to take it over. In 1941 Hitler announced his new order This was called the final solution. He wanted to kill off all of the Jewish people. They created a way to place, take, transport and to kill all of them. This was what head to the beginning of the Holocaust, Jews were put into camps, to work and to kill them off. Then on January 1st 1942 Hitler called for a conference called the Wannsee Conference, where they talked about the Final Solution and agreements were made to carry it out.
It was the Blitzkrieg, which means light war that really started the worldwide battle.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Germany went and entered Poland and took over its land without and permission from its leaders.
The order of the countries fallen to Blitzkrieg warfare was, Poland, Denmark, Norway,Belgium, the Netherlands and France.Than Hitler Set out to get Britain next. To do this Operation Sea Lion was created. Germany bomb the English Channel. Than the Battle of Britain, Germany thought that it would easy to take over Britain using its air force Luftwaffe, but because of Britain strong air the (RAF)The Royal force Germany couldn't take over, they lost that battle.
While Germany was trying to get everything that it had lost back from the first world war. Italy’s leader Mussolini was also on the move to making Italy bigger. So he went and entered Abyssinia the allied powers saw that things were beginning to fall apart and tried to stop Mussolini. The allies was at an appeasement which means they had given in to what Mussolini wanted, they made treaties but Mussolini was greedy and wanted all of Abyssinia not part of it. So he went and allied himself with Hitler. Mussolini like Hitler was aggressive leader who had a strong belief in fascism. Fascism is a type of manipulation that Mussolini use to brainwash the people of Italy to believe and do what he wanted. It was very wrong but Nazism was worse.
Hitler making all of this process also increased the number of enemies that he had. Germany went and invaded the USSR This was called Operation Barbarossa. This was known as the largest military operation ever created. The war in USSR the Russians had victory in Stalingrad and Kursk They pushed the Germans into their own territory during this battle the Germans used the Wehrmacht, which was part of the Luftwaffe air force and the Heer army . But at the ended Germany suffered a great lost because they weren't prepared for the weather conditions that was in Russia and also because Hitler refused to give up. After the USSR’s win they went and joined the allied powers.
Now while Hitler was causing trouble in Europe, the Japanese were doing the same thing. Yamamoto Isoroku, was the person who was in charge of the Japanese navy, when they went and Bombed Pearl Harbor, which was a US territory in Hawaii. The US was really mad and wanted to get revenge. They were awaken from their state of isolation, which was them not begin part of the war that was going on. During May of 1942 the Battle of the Coral Sea took place. This was the battle were the aircrafts were fighting each other The US won and stopped the Japanese from moving up to New Guinea. In this battle neither of the sides fighting had fired at each other this was the first time that this happen in history. On June 1942 the US won the Battle of Midway it was a naval victory against the Japanese fleet, the Japanese lost their best air crafts carriers.Than in the Battle of Guadalcanal the allied powers put a counter attack on the Japanese which made them leave the Island. Meanwhile this was happening the other allied powers were on the move. In the Battle of El-Alamein Britain won and open up Italy for the allies to invade. After this was the D-Day invasion which was code named Operation Overlord. This was when the allied powers invaded the north west Europe. this was named the largest invasion in history. It had almost 3 million troops. this lead Germany to fighting at 3 fronts. this was the operation that freed Paris from Germany.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The battle of Okinawa was the last battle of the Pacific. Okinawa island was the only thing standing in the way for the allied powers to invade Japan’s mainland. The US lost about 15500 men and 50000 were hurt. Because of this battle and lost of so many men the US was led to the Manhattan Project. the project was a secret research to create an atomic bomb to drop on Japan.
Its was the battle of Iwo Jima that finally stopped the Japanese. The US forces invaded Japanese homelands , leaving the Japanese army as the last one standing. They bombed one of its major cities and was heading for another on. When the Japanese finally gave up and surrendered. The second world war ended with another Victory for the allied powers.

The NOT so difficult World War Story

World War two, you’ve probably heard about it right? Maybe you’ve heard that its just a big war that was fought which none of you guys were born to live it; but precisely, there is more to this War. World War two was made up of many events, laws and even countries that participated to make this a big war that it’s still remembered in history which is why I’ll be writing to you guys about it! I’ll be listing these events, countries and the other things that composed this Great War. The war started to arise by a man’s idea named Adolf Hitler. Of course if there was a second war then there must have been a first; so Hitler which was the leader of Germany saw that Germany lost World War 1 so he wanted to avenge his countries. He was war. The Allied Powers (France, Britain, United states +47 countries) were part of this and these countries where the ones that didn’t agree with what the Axis Powers (Italy, Germany, Japan) were trying to do which was of course win the war but take Germany to take over the Eurocentric countries and most likely, the world. Germany of course had plans of its own like the Anschluss which was the Unification of Austria with Germany. Germany was together in the central-powers back in World War 1 so them wanting to be with Austria again wasn’t a surprise. The Treaty of Versailles gave Germany Appeasement which was such a big order but something they needed to pay for because of losing World War 1 and causing lots of damage. In 1940 Germany tried to attack Great Britain but failed showing of their weakness; this was the Battle of Britain. In 1942, Britain gained victory over Germany in the Battle of El-Alamein in Egypt. From (1942-1943) there was The Battle of Guadalcanal which was a war fought in the pacific region of the world in which the Allies powers went against the Japanese. In 1945, there was a several week invasion from the United states in Japanese islands to make Japan surrender and regret coming into the war; this was The Battle of Iwo Jima. In The Battle of Midway on 1942, U.S naval forces gained victory over Japan naval forces which ended in Japan loosing valuable aircraft carriers and precious war materials. In The Battle of Okinawa, seemed that Okinawa was the last strong place that stood still in the pacific. This was the Last place the United States concurred before reaching into Japan which left 15500 dead and 50,000 with serious injuries. From (1942 to 1943) there was a battle called The Battle of Stalingrad which was when German forces were eliminated when trying to invade Soviet Union territory under freezing cold weather during winter. In 1942 there was another war which was called The Battle of the Coral Sea which was a battle that was Japanese naval and air forces against Allied forces. This was the first battle that aircraft carriers actually went Head-to-Head. Looking into Europe, when Germany invaded Poland, there was a term used which is Blitzkrieg which meant “Lighting war” and this was because Germany was moving extremely fast at those times to obtain victory. Among Communism and other “ism’s” found in the world wars, there was also Fascism which was an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization.

    ReplyDelete
  30. . Germany was very serious about their territory because to them, more land meant more power and more power meant that the other countries wouldn’t be as strong so another term that was used was Lebensraum which means Habitat or space to live in which was a boost to the Nazi’s to go out and conquer more land for mother Germany. Germany couldn’t fight or obtain land if they didn’t have power but one big and strong force that they had was the Luftwaffe which was Hitler’s air force. Even if they were strong and very organized with their attacks, they tried to bomb Great Britain and were defeated but the RAF failing in both attempts. The Manhattan Project was a secret that the U.S was hiding to them project it at the end of the war, in the United states eyes there needed to be an end to this great second war. The Munich Agreement was an agreement that led to Germany to obtaining land like Czechoslovakia so that they wouldn’t take more land but of course they were greedy so they went for more in World War 2. Operation Barbarossa & Operation Overlord where operations in which made a big impact in history, the USSR defending its territory over Hitler’s believe of defeating them and The Allies making a huge invasion in Europe involving more than three million troops, that’s huge! The S.S was a special police force back then which Germany founded as personal bodyguards of Hitler so that if anyone tried to make an attempt to kill him, they would fail. Japan decided to push its luck; Japanese Navy Admiral Yamamoto Isoroku directed the surprise attack of Pearl Harbor in 1941 and the Midway attack in 1942 which led to the U.S entering WW2. Japan kept pushing its luck and decided to cause the Invasion of Manchuria a region in China which was done because China had the goods that Japan wanted. Japan’s invasion wasn’t approved in the League of Nations but they stood back and watched without doing anything about it. The Wannsee Conference occurred in January, 20th 1942 in which German officials got together to discuss a Final solution to this war. Among this there was Hitler’s Final Solution which was to start a new race, a new order in Europe and spread to the world. Because of this movement, Germany was defeated in the battle of Stalingrad but Hitler refused to give up. Hitler was so upset that he militarized Rhineland and the Allies France and Great Britain did nothing about it; this was called Remilitarization of the Rhineland. Many events like the Order of Countries Fallen to Blitzkrieg Warfare, which was composed of (Poland, Denmark, Norway Belgium, the Netherlands and France), The Operation in Sea Lion which was a code for Germany invasion Britain that was their main goal and the War in USSR which lead to the defeat of the Germans in an early start of the war were all events that were predominantly pathways to the end of Germany’s Power. The D-Day Invasion was a British American attack to the German side of France in Normandy; the U.S which was part of the Allies were determined to end the war. The United States Bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki making Japan surrender in WW2 and for Germany? Again a big disgrace; Hitler killed himself (according to history, some say he escaped) but the country lost again and Germany was responsible for WW1 and WW2, kept paying the debts till the 21st century.

  31. Hi Adelis!

You’re a very lucky girl Adelis because you’re going to learn about World War 2 at the age 12! You’re going to be very smart and everyone is going to be jealous because you’re going to know a whole lot and they’re not. The first thing you need to know about is what a war is. A war is when a lot of people from different places come together and fight. Which is very bad you should not fight! In wars there are people who got each other’s back. They will do what to protect each other. Just like your mommy. She will do whatever she can in her power to protect you. This is called allies (al-ahyz) or alliances (un-lahy-uh-ns). The allied power (al-hud-pou-er) which were France, Britain, USSR, United States, and China hated Germany, a country, because Hitler, the ruler of Germany, was being a bad boy and did many bad things and you know when you’re a bad girl your mommy gives you a woopean. This is what the allied powers were planning on doing to Germany because Germany needed to stop doing bad things. One of the bad things that Germany did was Germany failed to do an appeasement (uh-peez). Another bad thing that Germany did was that Hitler made the final solution which was to kill all of the Jewish people. Hitler set up a wannasee conference on Jan. 20, 1942 to inform everyone of his plan to kill all of the Jews. Another example of how Germany is bad is because Hitler used his Luftwaffe (loo-ft-wahf-uh) which was his air force to bomb England. One last example of how Germany was bad is because of the remilitarization (re-mil-i-tuh-rahyz-sion) of the Rhineland. Germany planned to make and army in Rhineland many people tried to stop Germany but it did what it wanted to. Czechoslovakia (check-uh-sluh-vah-kee-uh), a country, wanted to be a peaceful country and Germany just went and took over it. Germany had a Munich Agreement with Czechoslovakia saying that Germany was not going to take over Czechoslovakia. Germany lied. There were 2 countries that believed that Germany did nothing wrong and they were Italy and Japan. They were called the axis powers (ak-sis). Germany trusted Austria, another country, because of Austria proved to Germany that they were very loyal. They had a relationship called Anschluss (ahn-shloo-s).

    ReplyDelete
  32. Adelis you now know about the basics of World War 2. Now I’m going to teacher you about 8 battles that happened during World War 2. The first war I’m going to talk to you about is the Battle of Britain. This fight happened in 1940. Germany was being a bad boy again and try to take over Britain. They failed really badly. Britain tried their very best to kick the bad boys out of their country and they won Adelis! This battle showed that Germany could talk the talk but they can’t walk the walk. Another battle that happened during World War 2 was the battle of El-Alamein. It happened in 1942. Germany were being bad and tried to take over Egypt, a country, but Britain had Egypt’s back and protected them. Britain won this battle. Another battle is the battle of Guadalcanal (gwahd-l-kuh-nal). It happened in 1942. Japanese people were in the Pacific and the allied powers kicked them out. And for future references Adelis, you and never kick someone out of anywhere unless they are hurting you! And the Japanese people were being mean to the allied powers. I know you’re probably tired of all these battles but were almost done sweetie. There are 5 battles left. The battle of Iwo Jima (ee-wuh Jee-muh) happened in 1945. What happened was that the United States, a country, went to Japanese homes and kicked some of the Japanese people out of their homes by using bombs. Another battle is the battle of Midway. This happened in 1942. The United States took four of Japan’s best airplanes. During this battle the United States took the pacific theater. Another battle is the battle of Okinawa (oh-kuk-nou-wuh). What happened here was that the United Stated decided to go to Okinawa, Japan’s mainland, and invaded it. The United Stated killed over 15,500 people and hurt 50,000 people. Another battle is the battle of Stalingrad. This battle happened in 1942. In this battle Germany tried to be a big boy and attack the people in Stalingrad, a city, but they failed because they thought they were all that and thought that nobody can beat them. During this battle many German men were killed because they got caught in really bad weather. This is the last battle that you need to learn about World War 2! Aren’t you happy? This last battle is called the battle of the Coral Sea. This battle happened in 1942. The thing that happened in this battle was that japan tried to take the pacific theater but the pacific theater belonged to the United States. So the allied powers had United States back and stopped Japan from taking the pacific theater.

Now let’s talk about Germany. World War 2 started all because of Germany. They started it because they wanted revenge! Germany had their own special little word. It was “Blitzkrieg”. This means “lightning War” in English. Some of the countries that were attacked by the blitzkrieg warfare was France, Belgium, Norway, Poland, Denmark and the Netherlands. Germans came up with this word because in the Beginning of World War 2 Germany were doing so well. They were nonstop invading countries and killing everyone. Germany’s goal was to have a very big living space. This was called lebensraum. They took over many territories. Germany believed in fascism. This is when a country is controlled by one person. Germany had another one of their little words that only Germans knew. It was Operation Barbarossa (bahr-buh-ros-uh). This was a code for Germans that let Germans know when to attack the USSR (the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). Another saying that Germans have is “Wehrmacht”. This word means defensive might. Hitler was hated so much that he need special police (S.S) to protect him. Another code that Germany had was “operation sea lion” this was the code to take over Britain. In 1945 Germany was invaded by Britain and the United States. Germany only surrendered a few battles but the war in the USSR Germany backed down.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Now that you know about Germany, let’s learn about the United States and Japan. The United States had a Manhattan project. This project was secret. The project was making bombs! This was a great project for the United States because it helped them with their battles they had to fight. The United States had a code word that only they knew. It was operation overlord. When this word was said it meant that all of the allied powers would go into the northwest part of Europe and attack the people there. The United States was tricked and resulted to a surprise attack at the Pearl Harbor by the Japanese people. This attack was called Yamamoto (yah-mah-maw-taw) isoroku. The United States was not the only country that Japan attacked. They also invaded Manchuria. This place was owned by China. Well Adelis you are officially the smartest person in your class. You know all about World War 2.

  34. In the 1930’s two major groups of countries began to fight with each other and invade other countries, breaking many agreements and generally being mean. These two groups were called the Axis Powers and the Allied Powers. Germany, Italy and Japan were part of the Axis Powers and banded together in 1936 and 1937, making formal agreements to stand by each other and work for the same cause. The Allied Powers was mostly a group left over from WWII who had fought Germany and some of her allies at the time. Actually, Austria had been Germany’s strongest ally during WWI because they had very similar cultures and both spoke German and they were ordered not to associate with one another after the war but they went ahead and made the Anschluss which was a promise to work together and made Germany strong enough to start invasions that led to WWII. Even though France was really involved with World War I and had been a part of the Allied powers then, she tried not to get too involved in WWII so the Allied Powers was basically just Britain, Russia, China and later the U.S. even though France was part of it on paper. Germany led the Axis powers and a man named Adolf Hitler led Germany. Hitler used a king of politics called Fascism to gain the support of the other Germans. Fascism was a really far-out kind of thinking that supported extreme patriotism and caused most of the Germans to be okay with all of the horrible thinks they did or let happen during the Holocaust. Fascists wanted a single leader with complete power like a dictator and that is what gave Hitler such strong support and opportunity to do what he did. One of the reasons Italy and Germany got along so well and worked together during this time was because the Italians also used Fascism at the time—in fact, the leader of Italy, Mussolini, invented the term ‘Fascism’. Also, one of Hitler’s arguments for trying to steal more land was that he thought the Germans needed more “Lebensraum” or room to live in. Once Hitler had made the Anschluss with Austria, he started to grow stronger and made the military bigger (which broke several promises from the ending of WWI and was called the “Remilitarization of the Rhineland”) invaded Poland and Czechoslovakia. (The Rhineland refers to Germany because the country is distinguished by the Rhine River.)
As Germany was breaking so many promises and violating other countries’ rights, the Allied Powers tried to appease her. The era known simply as Appeasement was when the Allies tried to give Hitler what he wanted and hoping that he would just take it and go, but it only made him stronger and more determined. The Munich Agreement is an example of this; it was a compromise that said that Germany could take part of Czechoslovakia’s land if they didn’t try to take anyone else’s and settled down even though they didn’t let Czechoslovakia say what they wanted. This really made Germany more confident and gave her an opportunity to start a war. When Germany invaded Poland though, they couldn’t sit by any longer and finally declared war. Germany’s invasion of Poland was done using a special kind of war tactic called Blitzkrieg which was when the German military invaded very quickly and took over before anyone could react. After Poland was invaded, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands and France also fell under German Blitzkrieg attacks. Japan was also eager to start a war and in 1931 the invaded a part of China called Manchuria which made the League of Nations, whose job was to keep peace, upset but they didn’t do anything about it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. In 1940, The Axis tried to focus their attacks on the more powerful Britain. There were two major points of this, and air attack and an attack on the English Channel which separates Britain from Continental Europe. Called “Operation Sea Lion”, Germany thought that bombing the English Channel would bring Britain down. Hitler also staged an air attack on Britain called the Battle of Britain. In this battle, Britain’s Royal Air Force was too much for Germany’s planes and Britain proved that she was stronger by winning the battle against the Luftwaffe (Germany’s air force) and resisting invasion. Britain made another victory over Germany in 1942 during the Battle of El-Alamein when they were able to defend Egypt and the Suez Canal that the Axis Powers were trying to get. This victory also gave the Allied Powers and opportunity to invade Italy which weakened the Axis Powers even more. During the Battle of Stalingrad from 1942 to 1943, Germany tried to capture on of Russia’s capital cities but were unsuccessful because they were not used to the cold in the Soviet Union. Hitler didn’t want to back down however, so many Germans died in vain during this attempt which put a big dent in the Wehrmacht which was the entire military, air force, land army and navy.
The Holocaust was a major part of Germany and Hitler’s involvement in WWII. In 1941, Hitler proposed it as the ‘Final Solution’ to get rid of many groups including the Jews. Later, in 1941 the Wansee Conference was held in Germany to finally decide whether to and how to carry out the ‘Final Solution’. He used a special police force called the S.S. to carry out his more evil plans and protect him. They were one of the major groups that could be held responsible for the Nazi’s Holocaust.
Japan was responsible for bringing the U.S. into the war by invading Pearl Harbor in 1941 (which was decided by Admiral Yamamoto Isoroku). Isoroku also planned the Battle of Midway which was a victory for the U.S. The Battle of the Guadalcanal, the Battle of Okinawa, the Battle of Iwo Jim and the Battle of the Coral Sea were all Japan’s attempts to hold their weight in WWII but led to their defeat when the U.S. dropped the nuclear bombs they had developed during the Manhattan Project on them.
Russia was fighting throughout the war and was failing early on but pushed the Germans out in 1945. They endured Germany’s Operation Barbarossa to invade Germany and kept their land.
The D-Day invasion by the Allies of the Axis powers was code-named Operation Overlord and was the final straw for the Axis Powers and won the war for the Allies in 1945.

    WW2: Story

World War two was the second biggest war that had happen. It happened in Russia and also inside Europe and the Atlantic the dates was between 1939-1945, so it all started when Russia had tried to take over Poland. So the Allied powers which were France, Britain, USSR, United States and 45 other countries. So basically the Allied powers are the same thing as partners. Just like you have teams that are what the Allied powers were like. So the Allied powers fought against the 3 main aggressors. Those 3 aggressors put together were called the “Rome- Berlin-Tokyo Axis” and together they made treaties which were just stuff they agreed on. That was called the Axis powers. So when Russia attacked Poland, that what sparked the war. The poles were damaged very rapidly. This was all by the Germans, Blitzkrieg (which means lightening wars). The man who was behind all of this was named Adolf Hitler. He used his Luftwaffe to wipe out Poland’s railway system. Luftwaffe was just Hitler’s air force. Hitler had all power over Germany would believe it also. He brain washed Germany by using fascism, an idea where a state should be led by a dictator. Now, since Hitler felt very powerful he thought he can take over every country. So that’s when he made an attack on other countries. One of these countries had happened to be Great Britain. In 1940, the Battle of Britain had happened.

  37. Germany filled to take over Britain. Just by that, it proved to the world that Germany could be stopped. But not only that, other countries wanted to know what was Germany’s motivation, it was Lebensrawm. In German that means “living space.” That was a very huge push for the Germany and the Nazi party’s. While Germany’s getting weaker the axis powers get larger. The reason why they grew more is because they saw that Germany was losing their strength in power. So the Battle of Britain was a huge impact on the Germans and Hitler. But to Germany was not going to give up without a fight. So they invaded on Russia. This was also known as Operation Barbarossa. Now Hitler had to be protected at all times so he had a special force know as (S.S) it was like Hitler’s personal body guard. There were many battles that had happened, where Germany tried to show that they were still strong. Then USA joins the war after Japan bombs the Pearl Harbor, where millions of Americans died innocently. But before that the Appeasement happened were the aggressors nations demanded stuff but it fallen because it allowed Hitler to take over Czechoslovakia. The union that took part of it was Austria. The Anschluss showed how loyal Austria was to Germany. Now the United State had to enter the war by force because the Japanese people blew up the Pearl Harbor before the invasion of Manchuria. This was such a surprise attack it was called the Yamamoto Isoroku. After that it was destruction for Japanese culture. Not even the League of Nations even stopped the invasions. But just like the Munich Agreement, they tried to avoid war but it ended up happening anyway. Now since U.S. knows Japan was their bad side the U.S had to plan something to make them pay for what they had done. It was kind of like operation Sea Lion because U.S main goal was to bomb the Japanese people. So that’s when the Manhattan Project happened. It was very secretive and basically the U.S planned to send 2 atomic bombs over to japan. Then the Battle of Two Jima happened, where Japanese homes were invaded for 6 weeks. So the U.S needed a nuclear bomb for the Japanese to surrender, so by having naval victory over the Japanese Fleet. Japanese fleet, it became a big problem for the pacific theater, but then America took over it. That happened in June, 1942. This was known as the Battle of Midway. Many people wondered why the U.S dropped the bomb and the Battle of Okinawa explains. Okinawa was located in the Pacific and it was the last island to take. So the U.S expected only about 250,000 people to get killed, because it was the main land of Japan. So that decision led to the 2 atomic bombings being dropped. So Japan had access to the New Guinea. But after the Battle of the Coral Sea, they were stopped from having access to New Guinea. But back to Germany, the behavior of the German’s and Japanese was not good. They treated people unfair because Japan has lost everything after America bombed them. The Midway provided a big impact for the pacific. That’s when the Battle of El-Alamein happened, Britain won over Germany in Egypt. After that, the battle of staling nil happened, German was defeated again. Around the same time the battle of Guadalcanal happened. At this point Germany was at a point where they couldn’t be powerful anymore. So the D-Day Invasion happened. But Adolf Hitler was just not giving up being evil, so he wanted to get rid the Jewish culture and the people. So he had a final solution to get rid of Jews, gypsy and Christians. The Germans off coursed followed what Hitler says. So they captured them and put them in killing centers to torture them. He wanted to get rid of the Jews and make them extinct. That eventually led to the Holocaust. So the AMS powers defeated and Hitler got what he wanted.
