1. When did WWII begin in Europe: who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
After World War One, not a single country wanted to go to war again even Germany, but how did the second war started? It started when Germany attacked poland on September 1 1939. With this attack being made, other allies or nations felt as in they needed to do something about it. Hitler just wanted to expand land and the only way to expand land was to invade other nation’s land and so he invaded Poland. By september 3rd, as Germany got closer and closer to taking over Poland, France and Britain declared war against the Germans. As years months and years went by more and more countries started to get involved.
2. Describe the Battle of Britain.
The battle of Britain was a fight between the British and the Germans. The British was the Nazi’s greatest enemy in World War II. This battle lasted from July 1940 to May 1941. All of this started when France had a major fall back on War and the only enemy left for Germany was the British, Germany wanted to gain dominance over airspace. Germany’s main strategy on attacking Great Britain was by bombing airfields and military based spaces. At the end Great Britain still won the battle because Germany had to postpone their naval invasion overseas, it was almost like they abandoned the battle. This was the first time Germany had lost a battle in World War 2.
3. Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
Italy invades North Africa which is the Egypt, the invasion started on september 1940 to February 1941. At the start of the invasion, the Italian military outnumbered the British in an extreme way, creating six division of military bases at Egypt. on January 1941 the British finally started to host attack on Italy, in just 3 days the Italians gave up, all 75000 Italians retreated back by the British. At the end the invasion by Italy was not successful, this was a clear lost for the Italians against the British.
4. Describe Hitler’s first move in 1941 when Hitler (driving Britain out of Libya and then invading Greece).
Hitler’s invasion of Greece was called the Operation Castigo. After Germany bombed Belgrade, 1941 over 1000 tanks and over 20 division, drives into Greece. This invasion by the Nazi had a ridiculous amount of civilians dead which was about 17 thousand in just one day! The invasion was taken right on a day where the Greeks were celebrating Palm Sunday meaning majority of villagers were celebrating. Germany made a smart move by bombing Yugoslavia’s airfield destroying over 500 airplanes. Germany also bombes the Greek port which was made for trades, eventually Germany’s military swept out west and south then claiming total occupation of Greece.
5. Analyze the German invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa) that began on June 22, 1941.
The invasion of Russia or Operation Barbarossa was the biggest invasion in history. In 1941, over 3 million German troops invades Russia from 3 parallel locations. This military by the Germans consisted of over 15 military divisions, 2500 aircrafts, 3000 tanks and over 6000 artillery equipment. The ‘funny’ thing about this invasion was that in 1939 Russia and Germany signed an act which guaranteed if a specific region of influence was to be taken over there would be no intrusion from Russia towards Germany, vice versa. This invasion all started when The Russians invaded Romania in 1940, Hitler saw this invasion as a threat to his oil supply, as this happened, Hitler invaded Poland and this was a counter threat for Russia. “Fearing he would be “strangled” from the east and the west, he created in December 1940. “Directive No. 21: case Barbarossa”- the plan to invade and occupy the very nations he had actually asked to join the Axis only a month before!” (History.com)
6. Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
ReplyDeleteUnited States entered the war when the Japanese bombed the Pearl Harbor at Hawaii on December 7 1941. At this time Franklin Roosevelt was the president of the U.S., he worked hard to prepare the U.S. for the war. United States joining the war was a great success for the Allies, America was capable to build thousands of ships, airplanes and tanks. Major turning events for the United States in the WWII, was the Battle of Midway 1942, The allied invasion of France 1944, Invasion of Italy 1943, the Battle of Leyte Gulf 1944 and at last the atomic bomb attack on Japan in 1945. At the end the Axis power surrender.
7. Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake?
Hitler declaring war on the United States was a big mistake because with the Attack of Japan on Pearl Harbor, Hitler thought that by working together with Japan to declare war on United States would be a easy win but it didn't go as planned. On the other side, Germany could only help Japan in a battle if Japan was being attacked and not if Japan attacked. Germany wanted to declare war on U.S. and if they did Japan was the aggressor and they would break the terms under the Tripartite Pact.
8. Compare the inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by Germany and Japan.
Germany and Japan were like two disrespectful/rebel countries in the 19th Century. Germany was a country that always had in mind that they were the most powerful nation. Germany was the cause for World War One and Two! After the World War I Germany was placed in a bad position in which they had to pay for damage they caused on other nations. Eventually when Hitler or the Nazis party took over the German government, Germany was once again breaking terms from the Treaty of Versailles, hosting invasion on other nations so they could expand land and more. On the other side, Japan was also a powerful country, after the first great war, League of Nations was created and its goal was to stop any more conflicts to happen, eventually Japan took themselves out of the League and invaded the Manchurian land owned by the Chinese. This is how i see Germany and Japan as a inhumane Nations.
9. Discuss the Battle of El Alamein.
The Battle of El Alamein was a fight fought by the British 8th Army and the Afrika Korps at the town of El Alamein in Egypt. This battle started in October 23 1945 till november 5 1942. The British had won the battle taking over some land of Egypt and at the same time preventing the Axis power from taking over Egypt.
10. Describe the role of allied naval forces during the war.
During the second World War, Navy was a very common way of fighting other nations. The British once again had the best navy for a long period of time. The goals for the naval force during the 5 mains objectives. One, they had to defend trading routes because the main way of trading with other nations was to trade using ships overseas. Two, was to destroy any Riders or U boats by Germany. Three, was to stop any trades made by the Germans with other countries and control the contraband. Four, was to defend its own coasts, U boats were always working around the British and the North sea, this was a threat for the Allies. At last, Naval force was responsible to escort the France and the British troops to war zone.
11. Allied air power defeated the Axis – what contributions did they make to be so successful? Be sure to include the bombing of German and Japanese cities.
ReplyDeleteThe Allied air powers was very tactical and powerful with attacks on their enemies especially German and the Japanese. In 1945 the United States dropped over 1 million bombs in Munich located at Germany, it was the third largest city. There were many historical places that was destroyed, all of this damage all happened more at the end of the war with over 2 million tons of bomb. The bomb that was dropped at city of Hiroshima located at Japan was a atomic bomb and the world’s first atomic bomb. The explosion was so big that it nearly destroyed 90% of the city and killing 80 thousand people. Later on another bomb was dropped at Nagasaki, killing over 35 thousand people. With these bombings, Japan surrendered.
12. The Axis powers were defeated over a two-year time period – describe the following: The fall of Italy; The invasion of France; Germany retreating in France and Russia; The assault in Germany; and the Defeat of Japan.
The defeat of Japan was bought by the United States when two atomic bombs were dropped on the main cities located at Japan, this made the Japan surrender weeks later. The Italians at the Second World War was almost pointless, they were very weak and they always depended on Germany for help, its almost saying that Italy depended on Germany. The invasion of France were sets of attacks made on France by many countries multiples times, France was not allied with the British any more meaning it was easier for other nations to invade. At some point the Axis power becmae helpless.
13. List the reasons as to why the Axis powers lost the war?
As the war started, at first the Axis power seemed to be extremely power with Germany, Italy, Japan and more. One thing that surprised me was the fact that Hitler killed himself, this caused the Germans to surrender months later. Also Germany, Italy and the Japanese lost many battle with the major allied, which were the United States, Russia and Great Britain. Japan had a very large military overall but at the same time they managed to fail on controlling the military and they were very bad at communicating, this made Japan struggle to fight in the war. Also Japan was the reason why United States entered the war. United States was an extreme help for the Allies, they were very precise and they were capable of expanding the military at any time. At the end Axis power wanted to demand domination throughout Europe by fighting other nations and not negotiation, at the end they lost.

1.When did WWII begin in Europe: who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
-War began September 1939,when Germany invaded Poland. Germany started to consume land like Denmark and Norway, this was after Germany occupied Poland which was called the "phony war". In May, Germany also attacked Holland, Belgium and France who all lost to Germany. Hitler wanted to get at Britain to wanted to get at Britain to, which started the Battle of Britain in July all the way to September in 1940. These were the "opening moves" to set war in Europe and start World War Two.
2.Describe the Battle of Britain.
-The Battle of Britain which started August 12 to September 30, 1940 was a violent battle."The Germans bombed Britain harbors, radar stations, aerodromes and munition factories". There were a lot of loses to both sides for example 1389 German planes were destroyed against 792 British planes. This told the Germans that Britain air powers was to powerful, so Hitler"called the invasion off". The three reasons to this victory was the radars gave Britain a warning of the Germans coming, second Germans bombers wasn't armed proper and lastly because also during the battle bombed London, which took pressure in the airfields.
3.Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
-This invasion was more of a pride gesture for Mussolini, he didn't want to get outdone by Adolf Hitler. He sent an army from the Italian colony to penetrate 60 miles of Egypt. But with the help of the British, she pushed back the army and defeated them. The British gathered 130,000 prisoners and 400 tanks. So instead of pride, Mussolini got defeated which made Adolf Hitler look bad.
4.Describe Hitler’s first move in 1941 when Hitler (driving Britain out of Libya and then invading Greece).
-Hitler's"first moves in 1941 were to help out his faltering ally". First by sending Erwin Rommel, the Afrika Korps and the Italians to drive Britain out of Libya. Since there were troops from North Africa that have been remove, made Britain weak when actually they needed most when she got drove away. In 1941 Hitler and Germany invaded Greece. The Germans captured Athens and once again Britain forced to back away. The Germans ally bombed Crete making the British evacuate.
ReplyDelete5.Analyze the German invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa) that began on June 22, 1941.
-Started from Hitler because he had mixed emotions and thought Russia was going to attack to occupied the west. There were three attacks to go with the invasion, north towards Leningrad, centre towards Moscow and last through Ukram. About 5.5 million men, 3550 tanks, 5000 crafts and more then 47000 artillery was in this battle. Cities like Riga,Smolensk and Kier were captured, but not Leningrad and Moscow.
6. Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
-The U.S wanted to stay isolated and really didn't want no part in war."The USA was brought into the war by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor". If the Japanese wouldn't have did this, I believed she would of stay isolated as planed. Japan attacked because of the economic problems, Japan really depended on the US. The Americans help China in war who was in war with Japan.
7.Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake?
=Hitler wasn't very "committed to war with the USA". The USA was a very powerful foe which Germany really couldn't compete with. Hitler thought the USA was going to "declare war on Germany sooner or later". But the US in the first place wanted to stay neutral. But the US wanted revenge on Japan because of the bombing, which kind of brings Germany into the battle with the USA.
8.Compare the inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by Germany and Japan.
-Both Germany and Japan were both ruthless and brutal of trying to get what they want. Nazis treated other people as a lower class people, like slaves and the Germans being the masters. But for Jews it was worst because there were to be"exterminated",which leads to deaths. Germans was very harsh, millions tourted and sent to concentration camps, nearly six million Jews were killed or starved to death. Japan treated Asian people real bad and used new areas for there own economic power. The harsh treatment to Asian created resistance movements.
9. Discuss the Battle of El Alamein.
-The Afrika Korps was driven back because of the British Eighth Army. There were several engagements in this war but the last one in October had chased Egypt for good. The Germans and Italy were out numbered in this battle. The victory that the allied had was good because this meant it won't fall in Germany hands.
10.Describe the role of allied naval forces during the war.
-Naval forces played a role by defending and battling when needed. For example when Japan attacked the Pearl Habor, that lead to the U.S building u there naval force which lead to the Japans defeat. Naval forces such as Britain played a role in World War One with the blockage of Germany. Also Britain was very good at transporting supplies. The British had a lot of success with there naval forces, example of the battles she fought with Germany and also supplies to help Russia.

11.Allied air power defeated the Axis – what contributions did they make to be so successful?Be sure to include to bombing of German and Japanese cities
-The most "controversial actions", were against the German and Japanese cities. This started out because the Germans bomb London. The way Britain and the U.S fought back was by there air offensive. Germanys air support really wasn't a macth compare to Britain and the US. Japan got attacked because of what happened at Pearl Harbor, in this 80,000 were killed.
12.The Axis powers were defeated over a two-year time period – describe the following: The fall of Italy; The invasion of France; Germany retreating in France and Russia; The assault in Germany; and the Defeat of Japan.
-The fall of Italy was the first stage of the axis collapse, when the forces of the British and American troops from the forces of the British and American troops from the sea and air. With this surrounded the whole island of Sicily, this lead to the downfall of Mussolini also. The French got invaded and defeated because they were not ready for war in the first place, this was called the "phony war". French was very weak and Germany was to strong
and can over-power the French. The invasion of Russia was Hitler thinking about the future references, which was a three step battle. In this battle Germany took over land, but this doesn't equal to the assault of Germany. The assault of Germany was basically the ending and how the axis lost the war. With the help of Britain and the US was too much for Germany to handle. Also because Germanys supports have gotten beat prior. The defeat of Japan was by the Americans dropping an atomic bomb, which killed 84,000 people, others died slowly. Three days later dropped another in Nogoski, which made Japan surrender.
13.List the reasons as to why the Axis powers lost the war ?
-In the packet said it can be"summarized briefly". Why they lost
because of not enough raw materials,Allies learning about the there failures, axis biting more on what they can chew, the overwhelming impact of the US,USSR and British Empire with there resources and the mistakes the axis did. This all played a vital role, that lead to the Axis power losing. The shortage of supplies not getting things they needed, failures from allies mostly aircrafts which they brought up. What Hitler didn't understand, battling Britain would fight the whole empire. Having the USA,USSR and British Empire was very powerful team that the axis couldn't handle. And the costly mistakes for example bombing and declaring war on the USA.

WWII: Beginning and End
1.When did WWII begin in Europe: who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
It was the invasion of Poland that had initiated World War 2. The Polish were attacked and defeated by the Germans, who easily over powered them with their many tanks and strong air force. Poland was defeated in 1939 and divided up between Germany and the USSR.
2.Describe the Battle of Britain
The Battle of Britain was a war fought between Britain’s Royal Air Force and Germany’s Luftwaffe. British harbors, radar stations, aerodromes, and munitions factories were bombed by the Germans who also tried bombing London as pay back for a British raid on Berlin. The British did their fair share of damage as well. 1389 German planes were lost against 792 British and when it became obvious that the Germans couldn’t possibly triumph over the Royal Air Force, Hitler called of the Luftwaffe. The Battle of Britain held some significance to it. It was a major wake up call for Germany because they realized that they weren’t as invincible as they thought they were. Britain was clearly able to hold themselves up against them.
3.Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
Mussolini invaded Egypt because he did not want to be upstaged by Hitler. He sent an Italian army colonized in Libya to invade Egypt while the other Italian army would invade Greece from Albania. Mussolini’s pursuit on Egypt came to a halt when the British drove the Italian army back into Libya, capturing 130,000 prisoners and 400 tanks. Half of the Italian fleet was destroyed by the British naval aircrafts at Taranto. Mussolini’s invasion on Greece had also backfired and the Greeks began to invade Albania. Suffering from two defeats, Mussolini was starting to become an embarrassment to Hitler.
4.Describe Hitler’s first move in 1941 when Hitler (driving Britain out of Libya and then invading Greece).
Hitler took action 1941 to make up for the defeats of his ally. Hitler sent Erwin Rommel and the Afrika Korps to Tripoli who successfully drove the British out of Libya with the help of the Italians. Hitler’s next action was invading Greece April of 1941. 60,000 British, Australian, and New Zealand troops were sent to aid Greece. The Germans took control of Athens soon enough and forced the troops to withdraw.
5.Analyze the German invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa) that began on June 22, 1941.
Hitler seemed to have had mixed feelings regarding Russia. He was afraid that the Russians would try to attack Germany while Hitler’s troops were still occupied in the west and hoped that Japan would launch an attack from the Far East. Hitler felt extreme hatred toward communism and desired to make Lebensrawn a reality. The Russians were caught completely off guard when Germany invaded June 22, 1941. Germany was able to take over the cities of Riga, Smolensk, and Kiev since the Russian army were full of generals that were ill equipped for battle. However, the Germans failed to take control Leningrad and Moscow and were also beaten badly by the harsh weathers of Russia. The heavy rains of October turned the roads to mud and the temperature dropped to minus 38 °C in the months of November and December.
6.Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
The United States were firmly set on staying in isolation and remaining neutral in world affairs although they aided Britain financially after the Lend-Lease Act of 1941. The US entered World War 2 when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 5, 1941.
7.Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake?
ReplyDeleteDeclaring war was probably Hitler’s biggest mistake because he was already occupied with the war between allied powers and couldn’t possibly commit himself to go to war with the US. Due to the fact the Germany and Japan were allies, Germany had to give support to Japan if she were to ever go to war with the US.
8.Compare the inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by Germany and Japan.
Both the Germans and Japanese displayed acts of cruelty in the territories they conquered. I believe that the Germans were the most ruthless considering the fact that the Nazis considered the people of Eastern Europe to be sub-humans who were meant to be slaves for the German master-race. The Japanese were cruel to their prisoners and the Asian peoples. At first, many Asians took a liking to the Japanese because they thought she was freeing them from European rule. It was the harsh treatment by the Japanese that turned Asians against rule from Tokyo.
9.Discuss the Battle of El Alamein.
The great battle of El Alamein took place at El Alamein in Egypt and was the pinnacle of many battles previously fought on El Alemein grounds. The battle was fought between Erwin Rommel’s Afrika Korps and the British and New Zealand army. In the first few battles of July, the advances of the Axis powers were briefly put in check. Rommel tried to move on forward with his troops but was once again stopped by the British and New Zealand army in September. Finally, in October Rommel and his troops were driven out of Egypt for good.
10.Describe the role of allied naval forces during the war.
Allied naval forces played vital roles in the war. The use of naval fleets along with the power of aircrafts is what gave the allies victory in the Pacific war. The British navy was also in charge of protecting merchant ships loaded with food supplies, sinking German ships, blockading Germany, and transporting and supplying allied troops to North America and Italy later on.
11.Allied air power defeated the Axis – what contributions did they make to be so successful? Be sure to include the bombing of German and Japanese cities.
The allies were able to defeat the axis powers using allied air power because they helped tremendously in battle. The first notable victory using air power would be in the Battle of Britain where the Royal Air Force was able to fight of the Luftwaffe, causing Hitler abort his invasion plans. The Allies also used their air power to bomb major German and Japanese cities. In Germany the Ruhr, Cologne, Hamburg, and Berlin suffered greatly from the bombing done by the British and Americans. In 1945, America had dropped a number of bombs on Japan. In one single raid on Tokyo 80,000 people were murdered and a quarter of the city lay in ruins. The allied bombings definitely increased the number of civilian casualties for the Axis powers destroyed the sense of morality.
12.The Axis powers were defeated over a two-year time period – describe the following: The fall of Italy; The invasion of France; Germany retreating in France and Russia; The assault in Germany; and the Defeat of Japan.
ReplyDeleteThe defeat of the Axis powers began with the fall of Italy. On July 10, 1943 British and American troops invaded Sicily by sea and air. They swiftly took over the island which concluded in the fall of Mussolini and Italy going to war on the allied side. In the invasion of France, the Allied forces liberated most of northern France from German control. The allies were met with strong German resistance but soon overpowered them with the 3 million troops who safely landed in France by sea and air. The Germans had no other choice but to retreat in France and Russia. People from both the Axis and Allied sides hoped that there would be a negotiated peace. The Allies divided on topic of peace negotiations. The Americans wanted an unconditional surrender from Germany and Japan which some disagreed on because it would just prolong the war and more innocent people would die. After successfully liberating France and taking over Italy, the Allies prepared themselves for the invasion of Germany itself. It wasn't an easy task and the Germans fought vigorously and harshly. However, at the Battle of the Bulge, Hitler had gave it his all in one attack which resulted in the loss of 250,000 men and 600 tanks that simply couldn't be replaced. In 1945, Germany was being attacked on both the east and west fronts and Berlin eventually fell to Stalin’s army in April. Hitler committed suicide and Germany surrendered to the Allies. On August 6 1945 America dropped an atomic bomb on Japan, killing around 80,000 people in Hiroshima leaving thousands of people dying from radiation poisoning. A few days later, the Americans dropped an atomic bomb on Nagasaki which killed an additional 40,000 people. The Japanese government immediately surrendered.
13.List the reasons as to why the Axis powers lost the war?
According to packet 16 there are 5 reasons why the Axis powers lost the war.
•Shortage of raw materials- Italy and Japan relied on imported goods and Germany was short of cotton, nickel, and oil after 1944.
•The Allies learned from their early failures-they learned the importance of aircrafts and how powerful they could be combined with the power of navy ships. They also learned how to check for Blitzkrieg attacks
•The Axis powers simply took too much- Hitler failed to understand the waging war with Britain would mean waging war with her empire as well and that “his troops were bound to be spread too thinly on the Russian front, both sides of the Mediterranean, and on the western coastline of France” (packet 16).
•The combined resources of the USA, USSR, and British Empire- The resources these 3 powers provided were so great that the Axis powers had little to no chance of victory the longer the war prolonged.
•Serious tactical mistakes- Some of these include Japan not realizing the importance of aircrafts and spending too much time on the production of battleships and Hitler not defeating Britain before invading the USSR which led to Germany having war on two fronts.

#1) When did WWII begin in Europe: who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
ReplyDelete- The Second World War began in Europe in 1939 when Germany attacked Poland on September 1, 1939. No one wanted another world war but other countries in Europe felt like they had to attack as well. Germany took over Austria and the French and the British gave Germany a large amount of territory of Czechoslovakia. They did this because they did not want Germany to start major conflicts, instead they wanted to keep peace. Germany felt confident that they can now acquire Poland without any conflicts from Britain and France. Therefore, Germany invaded Poland. Britain and France did not like that and asked Hitler to remove his troops. Hitler did not agree and on September 3, 1939 France and Britain declared war on Germany. That marked the beginning of the Second World War.
#2) Describe the Battle of Britain.
- The fight began on July 10,1940 when the Luftwaffe attempted to increase control of the Straits of Dover. At the beginning of the conflict, Germany had 4,000 airplanes contrasted with Britain’s quality of 1,660. Since France was not in the war anymore, Britain had to face Germany alone. The reasons why Germany lost this battle are the following: German soldiers fought distant to their bases therefore, could not rearm on time, British could rearm quickly because they did not fight very far from their bases and British planes were better.
#3) Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
- Mussolini long before the war started had troops in Africa. Mussolini wanted to expand his presence all the way to Egypt. But, British forces were there. Hitler offered to help Mussolini attack the British troops but after their defeat during the Battle of Britain, Mussolini did not want their help. He believed the British forces were less powerful than Italy’s forces. That is why he invaded Egypt on September 13,1940.
#4) Describe Hitler’s first move in 1941 when Hitler (driving Britain out of Libya and then invading Greece).
- On April 6,1941 4 divisions and 1,200 tanks drove into Greece. Germany’s troops bombed Piraeus in route to Salonica. That way, they would get to Greece quicker. In addition to invading Greece, Hitler attacked Yugoslavia. That attack was called Operation Castigo and in this battle 17,000 civilians were killed. They all died that day and that was a huge amount of people killed. Hitler’s first moves were very remarkable.
#5) Analyze the German invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa) that began on June 22, 1941.
- The German invasion of Russia was called the Operation Barbarossa. This invasion was the biggest military attack of the Second World War. Germany attacked Russia with more than 3 million soldiers, more than 3,00 tanks, 600,000 motor vehicles and 625,000 horses. I think Hitler just wanted to be more and more powerful and that is why he decided to invade Russia. Russia was a huge territory and if they won the battle that would start in reaction to the attack, then Germany would be seen as a very powerful and scary country.
#6) Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
ReplyDelete- The United States entered war in 1941. The reason was the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Japanese soldiers destroyed around 20 American naval vessels and around 2,000 Americans died from the attack. In addition, around 1,000 Americans were wounded. A day after this, Congress approved to declare war on Germany. Three days later, Germany and Italy declared war on the United States.
#7) Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake?
- Declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake because Germany was obligated to face the huge potential of the USA. In other words, the war no longer lasted which meant a less chance for an Axis Victory.
#8) Compare the inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by Germany and Japan.
- Germans treated the people of eastern Europe as sub-humans and treated the Jews like if they were worth nothing. Japanese treated their prisoners and the Asians in a very harsh way. They treated others like if they were not humans and that was completely horrible and sad.
#9) Discuss the Battle of El Alamein.
- The Battle of El Alamein was fought in the desert of Africa. The Battle of El Alamein was battled between two of the extraordinary commandants of the Second World War, Montgomery and Rommel. The results of this battle are the German surrender and the retreat of African korps.
#10) Describe the role of allied naval forces during the war.
- The role of allied naval forces during the war was the key to success. Americans were able to defeat Japan because of allied naval forces. The British navy at the same time protected merchant ships, blocked Germany and supplied Allied troops fighting in Africa and Italy. In other words, allied naval forces helped everyone and brought success to them.
#11) Allied air power defeated the Axis – what contributions did they make to be so successful? Be sure to include the bombing of German and Japanese cities.
- The Allied air power defeated the Axis during the Second World War. The first achievement was in the Battle of Britain, when the RAF caused Hitler to leave his invasion plans. The bombing of German and Japanese cities made the Allied power defeat the Axis. Americans launched many raids on Japan which killed around 80,000 people. In addition, a quarter of the city was destroyed. The bombings were the key to defeat the Axis. The Axis were basically destroyed since they lost so many people and their cities were in total chaos.
#12) The Axis powers were defeated over a two-year time period – describe the following: The fall of Italy; The invasion of France; Germany retreating in France and Russia; The assault in Germany; and the Defeat of Japan.
- The fall of Italy marked the beginning of the Axis collapse. The French got invaded because they were weak and Germany took advantage of that. Hitler wanted more and more land in order to be more and more powerful therefore, he retreated in France and Russia. The assault in Germany was basically everyone fighting to defeat Hitler. Lastly the defeat of Japan marked the end of the collapse of the Axis.
#13) List the reasons as to why the Axis powers lost the war?
-shortage of materials
-the USA, US.R and the British Empire were very well prepared
- the Allies knew more tactics such as the importance of aircrafts

1. When did WWII begin in Europe: who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
- World War II began in 1939. In September, Russia and Germany settled in Poland, and then in April Germany settled in Norway and Denmark. There were attacks in May on Belgium, France, and Holland. These three countries were then defeated. Mussolini and his army invaded Greece and Egypt. Hitler invaded Russia. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, which forced the United States into the war. They then settled in the territories: Singapore and Burma, Malaya, and the Philippines. The Axis powers were defeated.
2. Describe the Battle of Britain.
- The Battle of Britain was from August 12 to September 30, 1940. This battle was fought in the air. The battle of occurred when Goering’s Luftwaffe (Germany) tried to wreck the Royal Air Force (Britain). Germany decided to bomb radar stations, harbours, munitions factories, and aerodromes. Germany lost 1389 planes while Britain only lost 792 planes. It was made clear to Hitler that the Royal Air Force was far from getting destroyed so he canceled the invasion.
3. Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
- Mussolini invaded Egypt in September 1940. He decided to invade Egypt because he did not want to be defeated by Hitler. But, Britain pushed Italians out of Egypt and back to Libya. They later defeated Italy at Bedafomm. While defeating Italy, they captured 400 tanks and 130,000 prisoners. After this, Britain settled in Crete and their naval aircraft sank half of the Italian fleet at Taranto.
4. Describe Hitler’s first move in 1941 when Hitler (driving Britain out of Libya and then invading Greece).
- Hitler made his first moves in 1941 in order to help his ally. He sent Afrika Korps and Erwin Rommel to Tripoli in February. They then got together with Italy and drove Britain out of Libya. Hitler then decided to invade Greece in April 1941 because Britain, New Zealand, and Australian armed forces wanted to help the Greeks. Germany then captured Athens and bombed Crete. They invaded the island and Britain was then forced to depart in May 1941.
5. Analyze the German invasion of Russia (Operating Barbarossa) that began on June 22, 1941.
- It was said that Hitler decided to invade Russia because he wanted to organize the foundations of his thousand-year Reich by annexing the territory that was between the Urals and the Vistula. Germany decided to have three parts to the attack: in the north towards Leningrad, in the center towards Moscow, and in the south through the Ukraine. The attack involved 3550 tanks, which were backed up by 5,000 aircraft and 47,000 fragments of artillery, and 5.5 million men. There were three cities that were captured, which were: Smolensk, Kiev, and Riga. The Germans failed to seize Moscow and Leningrad.
6. Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
ReplyDelete- The United States entered the war in 1941 because of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 7, 1941. Japan decided to attack Pearl Harbor because of her economic problems. Japan’s government feared that they would run short of raw materials such as: oil and tin, and rubber. In that case, they had no choice but to attack the USA (even though they preferred to prevent war with the USA), which caused the United States to enter war.
7. Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake?
- Declaring war on the United States was Hitler’s biggest mistake because it made the U.S. Congress respond. This action from Hitler made the Germans think about who the greatest industrial power was. Germany guaranteed Japan that they would help if they had a war with the United States. Germany was confronted with the huge potential of the United States.
8. Compare the inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by Germany and Japan.
- Germany/the Nazis treated people from Eastern Europe as sub-humans, they were treated as slaves and they wanted to exterminate the Jews. Japan treated Asians and prisoners of war bad and harsh. Japan hoped to be able to organize the Asians’ new territories.
9. Discuss the Battle of El Alamein.
- The Battle of El Alamein happened in October 1942. The Axis advance was briefly checked in July, Rommel was halted at Alam Halfa in September and New Zealanders and British chased him out of Egypt in October. Germans and Italians were outnumbered; 80,000 men and 540 tanks against 230,000 troops and 1,440 tanks. There was a lack of fuel, food, ammunition, and oil.
10. Describe the role of allied naval forces during the war.
- The role of allied naval forces during the war was: to sink German surface raiders and submarines, to blockade Germany, to protect merchant ships that brought food supplies, and to transport, as well as supply, Allied troops that fought in North Africa and Italy. Although Britain failed to understand the significance of air support, and got defeated in Crete and Norway, they had some significant achievements such as: sinking half of the Italian fleet at Taranto, the removal of the treat from surface raiders by sinking the Bismarck, destroyed Germany’s invasion transports, provided escorts for convoys that carried supplies to help the Russians, had victory in the Battle of the Atlantic, and put the power of sea and air together to invade France in June 1944.
11. Allied air power defeated the Axis – what contributions did they make to be so successful? Be sure to include the bombing of German and Japanese cities.
ReplyDelete- The contributions that the allied air power made were: In the Battle of Britain the RAF beat off the Luftwaffe attacks, attacks on the Italian Fleet; the sinking of the German battleship Tirpitz; the protection of convoys in the Atlantic, the victory in the Pacific war against Japan, taking part in campaigns, and the flying in parachutes in order to help the landings in Sicily. Americans and the British got together for a strategic air offensive. This air offensive included large attacks on industrial targets and military to restrict the German war attempt. During a raid, 50,000 people were killed on Dresden. Americans started many raids on Japan, which in Tokyo, killed 80,000 people and destroyed a quarter of the city.
12. The Axis powers were defeated over a two-year time period – describe the following: The fall of Italy; The invasion of France; Germany retreating in France and Russia; The assault in Germany; and the Defeat of Japan.
- Italy was captured by American and British troops landing in Sicily by air and sea. Due to this capture, Mussolini went through a downfall. The Allies crossed to Reggio, Taranto, and Salerno in order to capture Naples, which they did in October 1943. Later, Monte Cassino was captured in May, while Rome was captured in June, and Milan was taken in April 1945. The invasion of France occurred on June 6, 1944. All of the landings took place from air and sea. In the first week, 326,000 men with heavy lorries and tanks landed. After all, over 3 million Allies had landed. In a few weeks, most of northern France was detached. In Germany’s retreat in France and Russia, there were many people that hoped for an armistice, which would lead to negotiated peace. The Allies wanted to fight for the surrender of Italy, Japan, and Germany, which ruined the chances of a negotiated peace. There were many members in the British secret service that hoped for German generals would help destroy Hitler. They felt that by destroying Hitler, they would open the chances of peace negotiations. In the assault in Germany, the Allies got together to invade Germany. The war was delayed by disagreements between Americans and the British and by desperate German resistance. Hitler risked everything in the Battle of the Bulge. He ended up losing 600 tanks and 250,000 men, which couldn’t be regained. Hitler then decided to commit suicide and Germany surrendered. The defeat of Japan occurred on August 6, 1945. Americans decided to drop an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, which killed about 84,000 people and left many others dying of poisoning. They then decided to drop an atomic bomb on Nagasaki, which killed about 40,000 people. After these attacks, the Japanese government decided to surrender.
13. List the reasons as to why the Axis powers lost the war?
- The Axis powers lost the war due to: the allies learning from their failures and mistakes, a deficiency of raw materials, the axis powers took on too much, the impact of combined resources of the USSR, the British Empire, and the USA, and the strategic errors by the Axis powers.

1. When did WW2 begin in Europe: who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
ReplyDelete- World War 2 began in 1939 when the Germans decided to invade Poland. The British had entered the war because they had offered military support if Poland had got invaded. But Poland ended up getting defeated by the Germans.
2. Describe the Battle of Britain.
- The main point of the Battle of Britain was that the Germans were trying to invade Britain. This was a battle fought up in the skies with planes. The Germans were bombing harbours, radar stations, aerodromes (Airports) and munitions (military weapons, ammunition, equipment and stores). But in September they began to bomb London as of a way of pay back for British raid on Berlin. In the end this battle was a victory for the British, Hitler had noticed that the British Air power was no where close to being destroyed and retreated, Hitler had called off the invasion. This was also a turning event for them after losing so many times to Germany. This win for the Allies had begun to show the Germans that they were not invincible.
3. Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
- I see this invasion of Egypt as a way of jealousy. Mussolini noticed that Hitler was making moves in WW2 and he didn’t want to be sized up (Outdone) by him so he sent an army to go invade Egypt while another Italian army was working on invading Greece from Albania. The British had soon drove out Italian then pushed them far back into Libya and soon defeated them at Bedafomn. The British soon sank half the Italian fleet in a harbour at Taranto. The Greeks ended up pushing the Italians far back into Albania. After all this happened Mussolini was soon beginning to become looked at as an embarrassment to Hitler.
4. Describe Hitler’s first move in 1941 when he (driving Britain out of Libya and then invading Greece).
- Hitler was taking on a lot in WW2. He was taking on his and his Allies battles during WW2. I say this because Hitler’s first couple moves in 1941 were to help his faltering ally (Italy). Hitler drove the British out of Libya by sending Afrika Korps to Tripoli so together with the Italians could defeat the British. After this had been done they went moving towards Greece and there they had invaded them. British troops were sent to help but the Athens got captured and the British forces had to withdrawal. Since the Crete was destroyed due to British bombing the British had to parachute their way onto the island where again they were only left with an option to evacuate.
5. Analyze the German invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa) that began on June 22, 1941.
- Hitler had feared that the Russians might attack Germany while his troops were in the west, but then again Hitler did hate communism and had the belief and desire for Lebensraum. But Hitler knew that the Russian campaign was not a luxury meaning that if they went to war it wasn’t going to be a easy win (for example like how they knocked out the French quickly). Hitler saw this invasion as a “be-all and end-all of Nazism. These battles were fierce as the Germans were not well equipped for the heavy conditions that Russian weather brought. So in the outcome they failed to take over Leningrad and Moscow.
6. Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
ReplyDelete- The United States practically had no choice but to enter the war in my opinion. I feel like if part of your country gets attacked then you should seek to avenge the lives lost. When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor this is when the United States entered the war, which in fact, was a bad idea on Hitler’s behalf because he did not need another country to deal with during WW2.
7. Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake?
- At first Hitler was winning the war quickly. He had got the French out of the war quickly and was starting to slowly get Britain out of the war. When he brought America into the war that was a huge mistake. Hitler had brought a country into this war that he didn’t have the resources to finish off. But like I was saying, by bringing the United States into the war, you’re bringing in another world power, which was obviously the opposite thing you want to do if you are trying to win the war.
8. Compare the inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by German and Japan.
- Germans in conquered territory treated people as “sub-humans”. Their only value was good enough to be a slave. And anyone with Jewish decent was to be exterminated. On the other hand the Japanese treated the prisoners of war and the other Asian people badly. It was said that if they would have treated the people nicely they probably would of allied with the Germans or Japanese but since they were treated very badly they didn’t want nothing to be free from German and Japanese rule. They started to go on resistance movements, which usually began with communist involved.
9. Discuss the Battle of El Alamein.
- The Battle of El Alamein was an Allies powers victory. It was somewhat a 7-week battle stopping the advances of the German and Italian powers. During these 7-weeks large numbers of troops were being added to the Allies side so it made it a huge outnumbered advantage for them (which is partly why they won this battle). Allied air power was consistently attacking the Axis forces and sinking their supply ships as they crossed the Mediterranean. This caused serious shortages of food for the Axis forces by October. There is also word saying that the Battle of El Alamein and it being a victory for the Allies was another turning point for them in World War 2.
10. Describe the role of allied naval forces during the war.
ReplyDelete- Well the combination of air and sea power was key to success in the Pacific war. Just like in World War 1 the British Navy had a vital role in World War 2 also. They protected merchant ships when bringing food supplies in or even sinking German submarines or surface raiders. It was vital for when they blockaded Germany.
11. Allied air power defeated the axis – what contributions did they make to be so successful? Be sure to include the bombing of German and Japanese cities.
- A great success they had was during the Battle of Britain when they forced the Germans to retreat. The combination of USA’s air force and naval force had a positive effect during the Pacific war. When the British took out the Italian fleet and destroyed the German battleship Tirpitz in Norway. America had launched a ton of devastating raids on Japans cities
12. The Axis powers were defeated over a two-year time period – describe the following: The fall of Italy; The invasion of France; Germany retreating in France and Russia; The assault in Germany; and the Defeat of Japan.
- The Assault on Germany was when Britain and America decided to invade Germany. In these desperate attempts to survive Hitler gave everything he got on this last attack. He lost a devastating 250,000 men and up to 600 tanks in which this point in war was no way of getting back. Germany was determined to fight to the Death. But ended up surrendering (unconditional surrendering). Many people kept fighting on because they were scared of the enemy or afraid of the Nazi officials who hung and killed people that were defeatists. Japans defeat was simply shown through aggression in my opinion. They simply kept bombing Japan killing more than one hundred thousand people. It wasn’t needed because the Japanese put out peace feelers in July and also Russia. America simply wanted to get rid of Japan before Russia joined to help as an attempt to show off Americas enormous power.
13. List the reasons as to why the Axis powers lost the war?
- The Axis powers lost the war due to a couple things. Such as, a shortage of raw materials that they needed during the war. The Allies also began to learn from their early mistakes and failures during the beginning of the war and soon enough the Axis powers began to start making tactical mistakes. Another way is that the Axis powers began to take on to much at one time (especially when they brought the United States into World War 2). But a huge reason to why they lost the war is because the resources that the USA, the USSR and the British Empire had was overwhelming which had a greatly positive affect on the outcome for the war with the Allies.

1. When did WWII begin in Europe: who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
Ww2 had begun in 1939 with Germany invading Poland, Denmark, and Norway. Germany had been successful at first and was gaining lots of confidence; the German air had been harassing the allies, which is where the threats started happening. The reason why Hitler started to invaded countries was because he felt like he needed more territory, following his previous attacks he also invaded Holland, Belgium, and France which is basically how the war started.
2. Describe the battle of Britain.
The battle of Britain had been a successful and important battle for Britain because it even though Germany’s army was very strong, it showed that they were not unstoppable. The battle had taken place in the air and Britain had been more prepared than Germany, Britain had better radar stations and Germany had limited range with weaker armor. Since the Germans couldn’t take on the British air force they were forced to change their plans.
3. Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
Mussolini decided to invade Egypt because he wanted to show Hitler that he was a worthy leader as well. I think since he saw Hitler invading and defeating a couple of countries, he wanted to the same because he probably didn’t want to ashamed of himself for not gaining any territory and staying behind, while Hitler shows his success. It could have also been jealousy because Mussolini wanted to be better and stronger than any other leader.
4. Describe Hitler’s first move in 1941 when Hitler (driving Britain out of Libya and then invading Greece).
Hitler sent troops to Libya because he wanted to help out his former alliance Mussolini. Right after Hitler invaded Greece and Greece had gotten backup from Britain, Austria, and New Zealand but it wasn’t enough to handle the German forces. The allies had lost about 36,000 soldiers and many of the troops were evacuated from North Africa.
5. Analyze the German invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa) that began on June 22, 1941.
The reason why Hitler had attacked Russia was because he feared the Soviet Union and he thought that he would get help from his ally Japan. Hitler had attacked three parts of Russia, Leningrad, Moscow, and Ukraine; the attacks didn’t last for long. Russia had been warned about Germany attacking them but the Russian leader had trusted them, even though Russia didn’t prepare for an attack from Germany they still took them on and won the battle. The Germans also didn’t have the right winter clothes material; as a result since weather had been tough to deal with the rain, cold, mud, etc it slowed down the German forces.
6. Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
ReplyDeleteThe Americans wanted to stay isolated and remain neutral but they were basically forced into the war because of the incident on Pearl Harbor. The Japanese had bombed Pearl Harbor which killed 3,700 men and 350 aircrafts were destroyed, President Roosevelt and American citizens as a whole were frustrated. Hitler promised to support Japan if they every declared war on America so Germany as well declared war on America, as a result America decided to go to war.
7. Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake?
Declaring war on the United States was Hitler’s biggest mistake because Hitler already had his own problems with countries within the European nations and adding another powerful country to the war against them just made things even harder. The chance of an axis victory had diminished and Hitler had to worry about another powerful country with many allies, at that point Germany had no chance of winning at all.
8. Compare the inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by Germany and Japan.
Germany was very harsh with their people and abused them like if they were animals. For example Germany had many people put into concentration camps where they would be tortured, Jews had been killed many ways, and people were forced into labor. The Japanese had treated people from Asia in bad ways and both didn’t care about no one but themselves because they wanted more power than anyone else.
9. Discuss the Battle of El Alamein.
The battle had been between the British and new Zealanders, during the battle the Germans and Italians were outnumbered and couldn’t take on the allies. The allies had attacked the axis powers on the air and on ships, meaning that the axis powers weren’t getting their necessary supplies such as food, weapons, and oil making it even harder to stay in the battle. The axis powers had no choice but to surrender because of the lack of equipment and soldiers.
10. Describe the role of allied naval forces during the war.
The allied powers had been very powerful and because of the allied naval forces America was able to get its revenge on Japan. The naval forces had made it very hard for some countries to get the supplies they needed, for example the British navy had caused a blockade on Germany, which caused Germany to panic because the amount of food or goods they needed wasn’t coming in. they had also helped the Russians and the battle of France, so the allied naval forces were very effective.
11. Allied air power defeated the Axis – what contributions did they make to be so successful? Be sure to include the bombing of German and Japanese cities.
The allied success had begun with the battle of Britain which was a major battle that ruined Hitler’s invasion plans. The navy forces had an advantage with new radar devices that helped them destroy the German U-boats and cause blockades. The British and Americans had made massive attacks on industrial and military targets. On 1945 America launched raids on Tokyo resulting in 80,000 deaths and part of the city destroyed. Germany was also bombed a lot in places such as the Ruhr, cologne, Hamburg, and Berlin where about 600 thousand to a million people were killed.
12. The Axis powers were defeated over a two-year time period – describe the following: The fall of Italy; The invasion of France; Germany retreating in France and Russia; The assault in Germany; and the Defeat of Japan.
ReplyDeleteThe allied troops had gone into Sicily Italy where they had succeeded and the downfall of Mussolini begun. The Germans tried to keep Italy but the allied powers were too much to handle. In the invasion of France, Germany had over powered France with their military strength and resulted in a victory for Germany. British and America did everything they could to take down Germany, they helped out France a lot and the German forces couldn’t take on the allied powers so they had to leave. In Russia, Germany was over powered and the weather made it even harder for Germany to fight back leaving them no choice but to retreat. Britain and America invaded the east and West German fronts and the Germans were pushed back, as a result Hitler committed suicide because at that point they had no control and lost to the allied powers. In Hiroshima, Japan they had been hit with an atomic bomb that was very destructive and ended up killing about 84,000 people. A couple days later another bomb had been dropped on Japan and made Japan surrender once in for all.
13. List the reasons as to why the Axis powers lost the war?
There were many reasons to why the axis powers had lost the war, one of the biggest mistakes they made was invading too many countries in a short amount of time leaving them in a state of loss. The naval blockades had affected Germany because they weren’t receiving the goods or support they needed while at war. The allied powers had thought about their past mistakes and made smart decisions, unlike the axis powers who all they thought about was gaining more land and fighting under any condition. The axis powers made poorly decisions and brought many enemies amongst themselves, which is why they ended up being defeated.

WWII: Beginning and End Questions:
1. When did WWII begin in Europe: who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
World War 2 started when Germany invaded Poland. The Germans was able to attack and defeat the Polish with their many tanks and air forces that were very powerful for the Polish to defeat the Germans. In 1939, Poland was defeated and the land was divided up between Germany and the USSR.
2. Describe the Battle of Britain.
The Battle of Britain was a war between Britain’s Air Force and Germany’s Luftwaffe. The Germans bombed so many things in Britain like: British harbors, radar stations, aerodromes, and munitions factories. Also Germany was trying to bomb London as way to get revenge when Britain attacked Berlin. The British even did some of their fair share of damaging against Germany. 1,389 German planes were gone by Britain and when Hitler knew it was impossible to get a victory over the Royal Air Force that eventually he called the Luftwaffe. The Battle of Britain made Germany to realize that they were not that powerful or invincible that they thought they were and Britain was able to handle the situation.
3. Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
The reason of Mussolini invading Egypt was because he really did not want to be outshined by Hitler. So Mussolini did was sent his Italian army to colonize Libya and invade Egypt, while the other Italian army would invade Greece from Albania. Mussolini’s invasion on Egypt stopped by Britain because the British droved the Italian army back to Libya, which captured 130,000 prisoners and 400 tanks. Mostly half of the Italian navy was destroyed by the British naval aircrafts at Taranto. Also Mussolini’s invasion on Greece had backfired on him that the Greeks was able to invade Albania. Mussolini suffered two defeats that Hitler thought Mussolini was an embarrassment to him and to his Italian country.
4. Describe Hitler’s first move in 1941 when Hitler (driving Britain out of Libya and then invading Greece).
Hitler did was sent Erwin Rommel and the Afrika Kors to Tripoli, which was successful because they drove British out of Libya with some help of the Italian troops. Then on April 6, 1914, 4 divisions and 1,200 tanks drove to Greece with German troops bombing Piraeus in route to Salonica. It was a way for Germany to invade Greece much quicker. Hitler was invading Greece and after that he attacked Yugoslavia, which was called Operation Castigo and approximately 17,000 civilians were killed during this battle. It was a good first move for Hitler that he was able to invade Greece.
5. Analyze the German invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa) that began on June 22, 1941.
Hitler had mixed feelings on Russia because he thought that Russia was eventually going to attack Germany while Hitler and his troops was trying to occupy the west, and hoped that Japan would launch an attack from the Far East. Hitler had hatred towards communism and was trying to make Lebensraum a reality. Then on June 22, 1941, Germany used Operation Barbarossa which the Russians were caught off guard. Germany attacked Russia and was able to get some of their cities of Riga, Smolensk, and Kiev, but the Russian army was ill equipped for battle. However, the Germans failed to get Leningrad and Moscow. I think Hitler wanted to invade Russia because he wanted Germany to be a powerful nation, and having a lot of territories from Russia would have made Germany powerful with Russia being a huge territory around the world.
6. Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
The United States was staying isolated and remained neutral in world affairs, although they aided Britain financially after the U.S. agreed on the Lend-Lease Act of 1941. The reason of the U.S. entering World War 2 was because in December 5, 141 Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, which around 20 American naval vessels was destroyed, 1,000 Americans was wounded and 2,000 Americans died after the bombing..

ReplyDelete7. Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake?
ReplyDeleteDeclaring war on the United States was a huge mistake for Hitler because he was already occupied with the war between the allied powers and was not able to commit himself on going to war with the U.S. Germany and Japan were allies, this means that Germany had to support Japan if they were ever go to war with the U.S.
8. Compare the inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by Germany and Japan.
Both the Germans and Japanese used the act of cruelty in the territories. I think that the Germans were crueler with the fact of the Nazis considering that the person of the Eastern Europe was sub-humans that were meant to be slaves for the German master-race. The Japanese were mostly cruel to their prisoners and Asian people. Asians thought that liking the Japanese was able to free them from European rules, but it was the harsh treatment that the Japanese did to their people that made the Asians turned against their rule from Tokyo.
9. Discuss the Battle of El Alamein.
The Battle of El Alamein took place in Egypt and was the peak of many battles that was previously fought on El Alamein grounds. The Battle of El Alamein was fought between Erwin Rommel’s Afrika Korps and, the British and New Zealand army. The first few battles, with the approach of the Axis power were momentarily put in check. Rommel was trying to move on forward with his troops, but it was stopped by the British and New Zealand army in September. Then in October, Rommel and his troops finally were driven out of Egypt for goo by the British and New Zealand army.
10. Describe the role of allied naval forces during the war.
The Allied naval forces played a big role during the war that was the key to success because the use of the naval navy along with the power of aircrafts is what gave an edge to allies of getting a victory in the Pacific war. The British navy was in charge of protecting merchant ships, which was loaded with a lot of food supplies, blockading Germany, sinking German ships that want to cause trouble and, transporting and supplying the allied troops that was fighting in Africa and Italy.
11. Allied air power defeated the Axis – what contributions did they make to be so successful? Be sure to include the bombing of German and Japanese cities.
The Allies were able to defeat the Axis Powers using allied power that was huge help for them during the battle. The first victory of using air power was in the Battle of Britain, where the Royal Air Force was able to fight against the Luftwaffe that caused Hitler to stop his invasion plans. Also, the Allies used their air power to bomb some of the major cities of Germany and Japan. Germany’s cities suffered a lot from the bombings that was done by the British and Americans like, the Ruhr, Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin. In 1945, the U.S. dropped bombs in Japan, with this bombing, it killed 80,000 people in Tokyo and a quarter of the city was in ruins. The allied bombings really created so many casualties for the Axis Powers that destroyed the sense of ethics.
12. The Axis powers were defeated over a two-year time period – describe the following: The fall of Italy; The invasion of France; Germany retreating in France and Russia; The assault in Germany; and the Defeat of Japan.
The fall of Italy was the beginning of the Axis collapse; the reason of the French being invaded was because they were a weak nation and Germany knew that they were weak and took advantage on France. Hitler wanted more land in order for Germany and himself to be powerful than other nations. Hitler did was retreated in France and Russia. The assault in Germany was mostly about every other nation that was against Hitler’s actions to be able to defeat him. Lastly was the defeat of Japan, which ended the collapse of the Axis Powers.
13. List the reasons as to why the Axis powers lost the war?
ReplyDeleteThe reason of the Axis Powers lost the war was because:
- There was a shortage of raw materials.
- The U.S., USSR, and the British Empire were prepared for war.
- The Allies already knew so many tactics like the importance of aircrafts.

1. When did WWII begin in Europe: who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
WW2 began on September 1st, 1939 with Germany invading Poland. Soon after, Britain and France declared war on Germany. Even though the Allies declared war on Germany, they did not do much to stop the Germans. Soon after, Germany was at the brink of defeating Poland and taking over. Germany’s intentions for attacking was to gain territory to sustain herself.
2. Describe the Battle of Britain.
The Battle of Britain began on July 1940, when the Germans sent the Luftwaffe to bombard Britain’s airfields and military installations. The British, against all odds, used their own air force to resist the attack and drive back the Germans. The radar technology gave the British a key edge in the battle, by allowing them to detect the Germans even in the dark night skies and through clouds. A mistake by the Germans was to bomb the city of London, which allowed the Royal Air Force to organize and counterattack.
3. Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
The Italians invaded Egypt on 1940 with the purpose of seizing the Suez Canal, but seeing the difficulty this would pose the goals were driven back. In typical Benny Mussolini fashion, he just wanted national pride. The goal was set on just occupying as much of Egypt as they could. The Italians breached Egypt and initially defeated the British. The few they defeated were only the “outskirts” divisions. Once they were attacked by the main forces, the Italians gave up and retreated.
4. Describe Hitler’s first move in 1941 when Hitler (driving Britain out of Libya and then invading Greece).
Hitler sent large amounts of tanks and divisions into Greece after they drove Britain out of Libya. The civilian death toll was enormous, reaching about 17000 in a single day. Germany bombed the airfields of Yugoslavia and ports of Greece to ensure no air support was to bother the Germans or the Greeks were to get any supplies. They quickly took control of all Greece.
5. Analyze the German invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa) that began on June 22, 1941.
Even though the Russians and the Germans had a pact of non-aggression, the Germans saw the Russian invasion of Romania as a threat to their oil supplies. They decided to take action against Russia by sending the largest invasion in history: 4 million soldiers, 2500 airplanes, 3000 tanks, and 6000 artillery. The Germans were ready to face the enormous army of Russia but they did take something into account: In Soviet Russia, snow shovels you. In other words, the extreme winter of Russia severely crippled the unprepared German armies and the Russians were able to drive them back before they reached Moscow.
6. Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
The United States entered the War when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor base in Hawaii. (An attack provoked by the United States, mind you. For reasons speculated, perhaps wanting an excuse to enter the war). After the attack, the United States declared war on Japan and Hitler in response declared war on the United States. Soon after; they helped the Allies retake France and they drove the Japanese out of islands in the Pacific.
7. Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake?
ReplyDeleteHitler thought that by working together with Japan, he would be able to defeat the United States. But he again underestimated his foe. The United States proved to be a much stronger enemy than he assumed. He was not able to help Japan because Japan had attacked, that would be a violation to the Tripartite Pact among the Axis Powers.
8. Compare the inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by Germany and Japan.
Both Countries performed brutal acts against humanity. The Germans started the Holocaust, in which Jews, homosexuals, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Gypsies and other minorities were killed (not only jews, mind you). The Japanese performed much more brutal actions in China, mainly in the infamous Unit 731, a research laboratory based in Pingfang, China. In this installation, prisoners were infected with anthrax, tested the damage of grenades at different distances, vivisected alive to study the effects of different diseases, organs removed and reattached, and all sorts of bizarre tests and experiments.
9. Discuss the Battle of El Alamein
The Battle of El Alamein was fought between the British and the German Afrikakorps (badass name) in 1945, at El Alamein town in Egypt. The British managed to fend off the Germans and prevent them from further advancing into Egypt.
10. Describe the role of allied naval forces during the war.
The British had a long tradition of possessing the most powerful navy in the world, and during WW2 this navy played a key role. They were key in protecting Allied trading and supply routes, they choked supply and trading routes to Germany, and finally they were key in evacuating Allied troops and eventually escort them back into Europe.
11. Allied air power defeated the Axis – what contributions did they make to be so successful? Be sure to include the bombing of German and Japanese cities.
Allied air power was key in defeating the Axis. The most known demonstration of Allied power was the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. The bombs dropped there were the world’s first atomic bombs and the destruction caused by them was so psychologically shocking that the Japanese surrendered to the United States. The Allies bombed Munich, the third largest city in Germany and destroyed large amounts of it by the end of the war in the final assault towards Berlin.
12. The Axis powers were defeated over a two-year time period – describe the following: The fall of Italy; The invasion of France; Germany retreating in France and Russia; The assault in Germany; and the Defeat of Japan.
The Italians did not have great leadership and were militarily weak, so they were dependent on Germany. The Allies launched an attack on Sicily and took the city. The Italians were fed up with Mussolini’s incompetence and overthrew him. Thus fell Fascist Italy. Germany invaded France in the Battle of France, and after some tough resistance France fell under German control. The Germans began retreating out of France when the Allies penetrated into Normandy (D-Day) and they gradually pushed back until the Germans had no choice but to go back to Germany. The Allies launched a final assault on Germany from the West and the East, Germany spent most of her resources and lost the rest to the Allies and was left too weak to resist the Allied assault. Finally, the Germans surrendered in 1945. Japan surrendered in 1945 when the United States bombed the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki with the world’s first atom bombs.
13. List the reasons as to why the Axis powers lost the war?
ReplyDeleteThe Axis lost the war because:
Hitler underestimated his enemies (Russia and the United States) and rushed to attack thinking it would be an easy victory. These failures crippled Germany’s army and weakened her until she finally fell to the Allies. The failure of the Barbarossa Operation was perhaps the hardest blow Germany took. Another major mistake was rushing to attack Russia and end up having war in the West with Britain and the United States and in the East with Mother Russia.
The Germans grew too confident in their Blitzkrieg tactics and the Allies quickly learned how to counter these tactics.
The economies of the Axis were being pushed too hard to sustain their wartime economies. Japan and Italy relied on imports and Germany, pushing the war industry too far, suffered of oil shortages and other resources were being consumed too much.

1. When did World War II began in Europe who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
World War II started in 1939 and ended in 1945. The country that was invaded to spark the war was the invasion of Poland. The Polish was defeated during the invasion because they withdrew their troops for safety. After the invasion the Germans had an undisputed advantage over all the other nations.
2. Describe the Battle of Britain?
The Battle of Britain was not a battle fought on ground it was a battle fought in the air between Germany and the United Kingdom. The purpose of the battle was to gain air superiority. Basically saying that they ruled the skies. Germany ended up losing the battle because they had surrendered to the United Kingdom. The good part of the battle was that when the United Kingdom won they took away the threat that Hitler would launch the operation sea lion which was to invade Britain.
3. Analyze Mussolini invasion of Egypt?
The reason why Mussolini invaded Egypt because he wanted to get to the canal. He knew the egyptians wasn't just going to let him take the Suez Canal. So Mussolini had to go in there and take it by force and that's what they did. Mussolini thought that he was going to go into to Egypt and have to fight everyone off but he was lucky because no one tried to stop them from taking the canal.
4. Describe Hitler's first move in 1941
Hitlers invaded Greece but Germany wasn't ready when the Greeks defeated them and the counterattack they also had planned. Greece was outnumbered by troops to defend themselves from the Italian and German troops. Belgium came in and had to assist Greece in the battle.
5. Analyze the German invasion of Russia ( operation Barbarossa) that began on June 23, 1941?
Operation Barbarossa was a great invasion by the Germans. Germany invaded Russia from 3 locations and they had over 4 million troops with them. Barbarossa had used 600,000 motor vehicles and 750,000 horses. When operation Barbarossa failed this made Hitler want to go inside the USSR and take it over. This invasion was caused because Russia invaded Romania and that's where Hitler had his oil supply.
6. Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941?
ReplyDeleteThe United States entered the war because the Japanese bombed the Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on December 7,1941. President Roosevelt worked really hard to prepare them for war he built many new ships, airplanes, tanks for the soldiers. Roosevelt also persuade congress to let them join the war. " persuaded congress to repeal the arms embargo provisions of the neutrality law so that arms could be sold to France and Britain".
7. Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler's biggest mistake?
Germany thought that working together with Japan after they bombed Pearl Harbor was a good idea but Hitler was wrong because America was really upset that they wanted revenge. The United States was willing to destroy anything or anyone in their way just to get to Japan and make them pay for what they did.
8. Compare the Inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by Germany and Japan?
On brutal behavior displayed by Germany was the holocaust. That was a brutal act against Jews and they were putting them in concentration camps and killing them because they felt Jews were the reason they lost World War I. Japan bombing Hawaii was brutal because there was many innocent people that died from the bombing.
9. Describe the battle of EL Alamein?
The battle of El Alamein was a battle between the British and Egypt. The British had won the battle of El Alamein and because of that they had gained some land or territory from Egypt.
10. Describe the role of allied naval forces during the war?
The role of the naval forces was to destroy any boats that belonged to Germany. This went overboard because ships were starting to destroy random ships that was filled with citizens from neutral nations. They also wanted control and wanted to stop countries from trading with Germany. They were also there for safety reasons they had to escort the French and British ships to the war zone where they can partake in battle.
11. Allied air powers defeated the axis what contributions did they make to be so successful?
ReplyDeleteThe United States air power was very powerful they flew over Munich which was in Germany and dropped over 1 million bombs. Japan had to surrender from the war because America drop 2 atomic bombs on them. The first bomb was dropped on Hiroshima the explosion killed 80 thousand people. Than they dropped another on Nagasaki and killed over 35 thousand people.
12. The axis powers were defeated over a two year time period describe the following: the fall of Italy: the invasion of France and Russia: the assault in Germany and the defeat of Japan?
Japan was defeated by America dropping two atomic bombs on them and they surrendered. The Italians were weak and didn't last very long in the war. France was always being attacked by other nations and they weren't allies with Britain anymore so they had no one to help them.
13. List the reasons why the axis powers lost the war?
Japan was bad at communicating with each other and they didn't know how to control each other. United States wanted to remain neutral but when Japan bombed Hawaii they had no choice but to step in and fight. When United States came into war they wanted to destroy Hawaii and anyone who got in their way.

1. When did WWII begin in Europe: who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
ReplyDeleteThe invasion of Poland by Germany on September 1, 1939 was the event that kindled WWII. This breach forced France and Britain to finally take action against Germany and end the era of appeasement. This invasion and the events that followed broke many treaties, promises and borders and made a full-scale war an unavoidable reality.
2. Describe the Battle of Britain.
The Luftwaffe’s air raid on Britain was intended to be a devastating victory over the British as their ally France refused to become further involved in the war. The Royal Air Force was an unexpected force to be reckoned with, however, and the British were able to take down the German bombers at a rate at which they could not be so easily replaced. The Battle of Britain ended as a tiring but victorious boost for Britain’s morale.
3. Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
Mussolini was overly cautious and almost fearful in his invasion of Egypt. He did not take the first chance to invade and when he did, it was not aggressive enough to gain an advantage. Britain was able to easily push the Italians out of Egypt and pursue them until their surrender. Britain took almost 40,000 prisoners and caused Italy great damage. This was the start of the Axis’ defeat.
4. Describe Hitler’s first move in 1941 when Hitler (driving Britain out of Libya and then invading Greece).
Hitler attempted to take large parts of northern Africa for colonies to gain power, land and resources and also to possibly get a form of aesthetic revenge for their colonies having been taken after WWI. Hitler’s invasion of Greece was partly to save face for Italy’s humiliatingly unsuccessful attempt previously. Both invasions were meant to increase Germany’s power, boost her claims for pride and make others fearful of her and Hitler’s power and determination.
5. Analyze the German invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa) that began on June 22, 1941.
Germany staged a blitzkrieg against Russia in 1941 that devastated the previously more powerful country. Russia had been a formidable presence that had irked Germany for decades. The former had more land, people and resources and both fought over allies and colonies. This defeat of Russia could have been a game-changer for Germany had she kept hold of this victory.
6. Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
ReplyDeleteThe United States, who had attempted to remain neutral throughout WWII was almost forced to react to the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7 which was a blatant breach of the respect of neutrality. The devastating attack could have not gone without response and so the US joined the Allies to gain revenge on the Japanese for the bombing.
7. Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake?
This action gave Hitler more enemies as not only the vastly powerful and vengeful US committed to war, but all of her Allies were drawn into or became more deeply involved with the war. The US had the advantage of being far from immediate attack and used her great pool of resources and motivation to ensure Germany’s defeat. Had Hitler not drawn the US into the war, she may have remained neutral and he may have been able to claim a victory.
8. Compare the inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by Germany and Japan.
Japan’s actions in Manchuria and Nanking were the most brutal but not the only examples of the Axis’ terrible actions during WWII. There were disastrous breaches of basic human rights and violent violations throughout. Beyond the destruction of civilians in the name of war, there are reports and records of Japanese soldiers pointlessly torturing, mutilating and raping civilians and committing other unspeakable acts. Germany executed similar disgusting violations but in a more ordered and no less brutal manner in the name of the Holocaust. Prisoners were worked to death in labor camps, abused and experimented upon and given routine executions for the sake of fear-mongering. Both countries committed unthinkable atrocities during the war but are known today as much kinder, more peaceful nations.
9. Discuss the Battle of El Alamein.
The Battle of El Alamein was conducted in North Africa and ended as an Allied victory. This battle put an end to Axis occupation in Africa and drove Hitler’s Afrika Korps out of Northern Africa. The Battle of El Alamein put a great dent in Germany’s morale, military and resources. The victory can be labelled as one in a string of many relatively small victories that led to an overall Allied victory in WWII.
10. Describe the role of allied naval forces during the war.
The Germans waged unrestricted submarine warfare in the Atlantic during the Second World War on neutral and trade ships in violation of established war codes of conduct. Britain’s great navy and other Allied ships combated these attacks in informal battles in WWII. There were also invasions such as the Invasion of Normandy that utilized naval forces to wage attack on the Axis powers.
11. Allied air power defeated the Axis – what contributions did they make to be so successful? Be sure to include the bombing of German and Japanese cities.
ReplyDeleteThe strength and skill of the RAF were able to gain the Allies a great advantage in WWII, however, that was not what gave the Allies final superiority of air power. The invention and use of the nuclear bomb such as was used on Hiroshima is what truly gave the Allies an edge. Relentless air raids in Berlin were a product of vast resources and determination and also aided in further turning the tide of the war.
12. The Axis powers were defeated over a two-year time period – describe the following: The fall of Italy; The invasion of France; Germany retreating in France and Russia; The assault in Germany; and the Defeat of Japan.
Italy suffered a string of defeats as a result of her timid invasions and lack of motivation which cost the Axis great pain and led them closer to defeat. Germany attempted to regain power and staged an invasion of France but it had been anticipated and the Maginot line gave the latter an advantage that allowed them to take a great chunk out of Germany’s energy and military and maintain the French borders. Germany, suffering various defeats and running on little to no power, decided to withdraw from France and Russia where they had lost their ability to make the Soviet nation remain under their hold. The Allies took advantage of Germany’s defeats and exhaustion to make offensive moves including the invasion of Normandy and the Berlin air raid. With US involvement and the aid of the nuclear bomb, the Allies were able to defeat Japan and claim an overall victory in WWII.
13. List the reasons as to why the Axis powers lost the war?
The Axis lost the Second World War because they were too ambitious. Hitler attempted to stage such a campaign that could not have been successful without tremendous resources and funds and he did not carefully plan for all eventualities. Mussolini’s ambitions in Northern Africa were also too great for his abilities and he eventually set himself up for defeat. The atrocities and breaches of neutrality the Axis utilized throughout the war gave their enemies too great a motivation and incentive to lose. Their tendency to reach beyond their means and make too many public and drastic moves are what eventually led to the Axis’ defeat in the string of battles they lost near the end of the war and their eventual complete defeat in WWII.

British success because (1)new radar station gave them plenty of warning of the German attackers,(2) the German bombers had been poorly armed and only staying in the air for 90 minutes, (3) during the bombing of London, at the Critical moment the pressure relieved from the airfield. Britain save their country by having more advanced planes than Germany. This battle mark as the turning point of the Second World War.
Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
--- Mussolini’s invades of Egypt in September 1940. The reason why Mussolini invades Egypt because Mussolini doesn’t want to outdone by Hitler. But British kicked the Italian out and capture 130,000 prisoners and 400 tanks. British had destroy half of the Italian fleet at Taranto. Invasion over Greece had been push back and so they change direction to invade Albania. But this makes an embarrassment of Mussolini to Hitler.

All of this was because Hitler hated communism and want Lebensraum. But Russia was a large territory and Germany might get attack from them if they won the war.
Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
--- The United States enters the war in 1941 because Japan attack the US naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Japanese destroyed naval vessels and soldiers died from the attack. The day after the attack, President Roosevelt went before the US Congress to ask Japan for a formal declaration of war. But three days after, both Italy and Germany declared war on US.
Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake?
--- Declaring war on the United States was Hitler’s biggest mistake because Germany is allied with Japan and they need to support Japan’s decision. Which was going to war with the US.
Compare the inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by Germany and Japan.
ReplyDelete--- Germany treated the Jews like they are nothing. Japan treated the Asians and the prisoners like they are nothing, too. I feel like Germany and Japan are very harsh and treated people like they are nothings and not even animals.
Discuss the Battle of El Alamein.
--- The Battle of El Alamein happened in October 1942 and fought in a deserts from North Africa. The war was fought between two outstanding commanders Montgomery and Rommel. The outcome of this war are Germany got surrender in North Africa in May 1943 and retreat of the Afrika Korps.

WWII: Beginning and End
1. When did WWII begin in Europe: who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
WWII began in Europe in September 1939. The war was sparked when Poland was occupied by the Germans and Russians. Also in April 1940, Denmark and Norway were occupied by German forces. Holland, Belgium, and France were attacked and defeated in May. When Poland was invaded by Germany they tried their best to fight back. The Luftwaffe which was the German air force put the polish railway system out of action and destroyed the Polish air force.
2. Describe the Battle of Britain.
The Battle of Britain occurred from 12 August to 30 September 1940. The German Air Force attempted to destroy the RoyalAir Force and did a number of harmful things to the British. For example, harbours, radar stations, aerodromes and munitions factories were bombed by the Germans. In September, the Germans began bombing London and then the British were fighting back by raiding Berlin. The Royal Air Force (RAF) were stronger than Germany resulting in the German Air Force losing 1389 planes because of the RAF. Hitler then called of the invasion seeing that the RAF couldn't be destroyed so easily.
3. Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
Mussolini's invasion of Egypt happened in September 1940. An army was sent from the Italian colony of Libya by Mussolini to Egypt and Greece was invaded from Albania by another Italian colony in October. Mussolini did this because he didn't want to be outdone by Hitler. The Italians were then driven out of Egypt by the British and pushed back into Libya. The Italians were also defeated at Bedafomm and 130,000 prisoners and 400 tanks were captured. The Italian fleet was half sunk by the British naval aircraft in harbour at Taranto and Crete was also occupied. Albania was invaded by the Greeks who also forced the Italians back.
4. Describe Hitler’s first move in 1941 when Hitler (driving Britain out of Libya and then invading Greece).
Hitler's first move in 1941 was to drive the British out if Libya and he did that by sending Erwin Rommel and the Afrika Korps to Tripoli and also by enlisting the help of the Italians. In April 1941, Greece was invade by Hitler's forces and Germany captured Athens. 60,000 British, Australian and New Zealand troops tried helping Greece but the British were forced to withdraw and the island of Crete was bombed and a parachute invasion was launched on Crete. In May 1941 the British were forced to evacuate once again.
5. Analyze the German invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa) that began on June 22, 1941.
The German invasion of Russia came about due to Hitler's mixed feelings about Russia. He feared Germany would be attacked by Russia while his forces were still occupied in the west. He hoped Russia would be attacked by the Japanese in the Far East. The Germans attempted to capture Leningrad and Moscow but failed.
6. Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
ReplyDeleteThe USA entered the war in December 1941. In short, the USA was brought into the war by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941.
7. Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake?
I believe declaring war on the USA was Hitler's biggest mistake due to the fact that Germany already had a lot on its plate. Since Germany was so preoccupied she wouldn't be able to come to Japan's aid if Japan was ever at war with the USA.
8. Compare the inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by Germany and Japan.
Germany treated people of Eastern Europe as people who were for only to be slaves of the German master-race. Also all Jews were to be exterminated. The Asian peoples were treated badly by the Japanese as well as their prisoners of war.
9. Discuss the Battle of El Alamein.
The Battle of El Alamein occurred in El Alamein, Egypt. The battle was between Erwin Rommel's Afrika Korps, the British, and the New Zealand army. Rommel wasn't very successful in this battle because in the October battle he was chased out of Egypt by the British and the New Zealanders.
10. Describe the role of allied naval forces during the war.
The role of allied naval forces played a huge part during the war. The USA was able to defeat Japan because of allied naval forces. For the British, allied naval forces helped to protect merchant ships bringing food supplies, sinking German submarines and surface raiders, blockading Germany, and transporting and supplying allied troops fighting in North America and Italy afterwards.
11. Allied air power defeated the Axis – what contributions did they make to be so successful? Be sure to include the bombing of German and Japanese cities.
The first achievement of the allied air power was in the Battle of Britain in 1940 when they cause Hitler to call of his invasion plans. The allied air power was successful due to their bombings of German and Japanese cities. In early 1945, Americans launched a series of raids on Japan from bases located in the Mariana Islands. A quarter of the city of Tokyo was destroyed in March an 80,000 people were killed with just a single raid. When Germany was raided by the allies, between 60,000 to 1,000,000 german civilian deaths occurred.
12. The Axis powers were defeated over a two-year time period – describe the following: The fall of Italy; The invasion of France; Germany retreating in France and Russia; The assault in Germany; and the Defeat of Japan.
ReplyDeleteThe whole island of Sicily was quickly captured by British an American troops on 10 July 1943. The capturing of Sicily caused the downfall of Mussolini. Naples was also captured on October 1943 when allied troops crossed to Salerno, Reggio and Taranto on the mainland. The invasion of France which is also known as the Second Front Happened on 6 June 1944. The allies were being urged by the Russians to start the invasion ever since 1941. When the Germans were forced to retreat in France and Russia, there were people who were hoping that there might be an armistice and peace between the nations. That was what brought the First World War to an end. After the success of the Second Front, the allies were gathering for the invasion of Germany. Due to the assault on Germany, Hitler lost 250,000 men and 600 tanks which couldn't be replaced. The Americans attacked Japan by dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima on 6 August 1945 which killed as many as 84,000 people and left thousands of more people slowly dying of radiation poisoning. An atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki three days later killing another 40,000. After that the Japanese government surrendered. These bombings were the most controversial actions of the whole war. President Truman justified these actions by saying he was saving american lives since the war could have been prolonged for another year.
13. List the reasons as to why the Axis powers lost the war?
-Shortage of raw materials
-The allies learning from their mistakes and failures
-The axis powere taking on too much
-The overwhelming impact of the combined resources of the USA, the USSR and the British Empire
-Tactical mistakes by the axis powers

#1.WW2 begin in Europe in june 1941 , the Europeans launched an invasion. Germany was an invasion of poland with the " soviet union" that then marked the start of world war 2 in Europe.
#2.In the timer period of the battle of Britain was that " Goering Luffwaffel tried to destroy the royal air force". The Germans took part in this as well for exmaple it says that they "bombed harbor, rador stations, aerodrannes and minitions factories". Then they started to bomb london and claimed that British would raid on Berlin. The British air force was far from being destroyed so " hitler" called it off.
#3.Mussolinis invasion of Egypt he didnt want to be outdone by Hitler so he sent hos army from the Italian colony to "penetrate" about a coupld of miles to Egypt. But then the british ended up pushing the Italians out of egypt and after they became an embarrassment to hitler.
#4.Hitlers first move was to help out his faltering ally. What he did to drive Britain out of lilbya was that he sent people to tripoli with the italians and thats how they were driven out. And for the invading greece was because people came to help them.
#5.Hitler was feared about the Russias might attacking Germany while his force were any out west. It happened because Hitler wanted the foundations but then he noticed that he made a big mistake for the attack.
#6.The United States enters the war in 1941 because of the Japanese attack on " pearl harbor". But they were still ok isolation. The Japanese were prepared to attack but when it came down to the USA they tried to avoid war.
#7.It was Hitlers big mistake to declaring war on the USA. In the text it says that " he needed to have commited himself to war with the USA". He did it so that germany could get their declaration first so people can see that he had control.
#8.The behavior was very ruthless and brutal. They treated people very bad, they said " you fit only to be a slave" so if you didnt look like you fit to be a slave that would treat you wrong.
#9.This was driven by the British Eighth army. Alot of engagements were fought in the El Alamein. People had believed that there was no doubt that the victory was going to be " another turning point". They were very surprised by that.
#10.The naval forces played a role that when it was time for battle or to defend they would help. The naval forces lead to the Japanese defeat. They help alot when countries needed it.
#11.Well first off the Germany and Japanese relations were established in 1860. I found out that japan had allied with britain in ww1 to declare war on germany. Then in the second world war the " axis was limiged by the great distances between the axis power".
#12.The fall of Italy was caused because of the "overthrow of the tyrant who led her into this ruinous war". The invasion of france was because germany invaded it. The defeat of japan was that " Americans dropped a bomb an atomic bomb in Hitoshima, killed about 8400 people".
#13.The text states these reason for the "axis power to lose the war" it was beause of " shortage of raw materials , the allies learning from their mistakes and failures, and axis powers taking on to much , etc.

1. When it comes to a war, there has to be a winning and losing side. WW2 was based on many conflicts that compose World War 2. World war 2 started around the (1939’s-1940’s) some of the countries that were defeated along the way were Belgium and France, Leaving Great Britain to deal with dictators like Hitler and Mussolini. Hitler had planned to bomb Great Britain but things were not as easy to mess with Great Britain. Hitler had many plans to invade which is why Germany invaded Poland to start to take over Euro-centric countries coming into having to start World War because of this invasion. This caused all the countries that were in attempt from WW1 to want to start another would war; even Germany wanted to fight because Hitler was in front and they had faith that they would have another chance to take over land and get out misery.
2. The battle of Britain otherwise known as “Air battle of England” was a name that was put in World War air force from the German force (the Luftwaffe) against the United Kingdom around the 1940’s. This famous name came from the Prime minister which in one of his speeches he states that the battle of France ended but he had a feeling that the battle of Britain was going to start. This war was the first major fight to be fought completely by air forces from both sides, and till today’s date; it was the biggest war fought by air forces. The purpose of this air war fought was to gain power over air so that this could be a symbolist meaning of power in the heavens.
3. Mussolini’s invasion in Egypt otherwise known as the Italian Invasion of Egypt was a movement by the Italians to stop any British or French forces that would try to stop their movement in Northern Africa. Mussolini’s goal put upon the Italian forces was to stop the Suez Canal but to do this, the Italian forces needed their forces implemented in Libya, Africa to move threw Egypt declaring that any force that tried to stop them would be attacked and confronted due to trying to stop the advancing troops. In my perspective I believe that this is amazing to know because I don’t think that it was necessary to move threw Egypt; they could have found another way but Mussolini was a trouble maker so of course they would want to confront violence.
4. Hitler’s moves determined that he wanted to move quick and strong going around and invading land which was a symbol for power. Hitler’s first moves in 1941 had a purpose and that was to help one of his allies. Around February he sent a man called Erwin Rommel and the Afrika Korps to Tripoli and moving with the Italians, the drove the British forces out of Libya. After doing this, around 1942, the German’s were established in Egypt approaching El Alamein. In 1941 Hitler’s forces had a new place to invade and that was Greece after 60,000 British, Australian and New Zeeland troops arrived to help the Greeks. The German’s took over Athens and after bombing Crete, the launched another invasion in the island making the British evacuate and back out.
ReplyDelete5. There’s acouple points that catch my attention in this and that’s that Hitler’s motives seem to have been mixed:
• He feared that the Russians might attack Germany while his forces were still occupied in the west.
• He hoped that the Japanese would attack Russia in the Far East.
• The more powerful Japan became, the less chance there was of the USA entering the war (Hitler thought)
• Above all there was his hatred of communism and his desire for living space)
These points give me a simple idea of what Hitler thought about Russia and how he was scared. It seemed like he really wasn’t scared and depended on looking at Japan’s growth so that the United States couldn’t enter but that was a big mistake. I believe that these points clear up those things that we didn’t know about Hitler which is why he was so direct and attacked so harsh
6. . The United States of America was brought into war by the Japanese attack of the Hawaiian Island’s base Pearl Harbor in 1941. Since the Japanese thought that by attacking the United States would be a successful win and would state like that, the United States remained neutral but put an embargo on supplies on Japan and assisted China which was still at war with Japan. This was a huge mistake of the Japanese. Since Japan looked for a refuge Under Germany and Hitler Believed that if Japan got stronger the USA wouldn’t get involved but because of Japan’s idiotic attack to pearl harbor the United states saw that the Allies needed help so they entered war to revenge and help the allies from the central power attacks of Countries like Hitler and Japan.
7. Declaring war on the United States was Hitler’s biggest mistake because as it was, Germany was now faced with not only the United States but also the USSR and the British Commonwealth as well; the longer the war lasted this diminished chances of an Axis victory of Germany continuing. The Euro-centric countries that were allies had a chance to continue to fight till help came for the United States which led to the United States coming in and attacking along side with the allies.
ReplyDelete8. The behavior of the German’s and Japanese in their territories were both united brutal behavior. The Nazis treated the peoples of Eastern Europe as Sub-humans, no treatment what so ever and considered not from this world and not to their level. These people were only considered as slaves of the German master-face. The Jews were exterminated which was foolish and unacceptable. The Japanese treated their prisoners of war and Asian people badly which I don’t understand because they were Asian too. The Japanese wanted to create an Asian Economic empire but then started to fail because resistances started to develop.
9. The Battle of El Alamein was fought in the 1940’s in the deserts of North Africa. This war was one of the last wars that were fought and that were part of WW2 which led to the end of the war decisive point on to which country was the victory would go to. This war was fought by two great commanders of WW2, Montgomery who succeeded in winning this war against Germany, The allies’ received the victory at El Alemein which lead to the Afrika Korps and the German to surrender and retreat in 1943.
10. From the beginning we see that the United States has Pearl Harbor which was a naval base. The American’s were able to create departments that had different tactics at sea which lead to the defeat of Japan. The British navy was also strong since WW1 and played a big role because they protected merchant ships that brought goods and supplies. They also drowned and attacked any German ships that were in their range. Naval power was a balanced power in the World War’s Just like Britain and the USA used it; that’s how they obtain victory.
ReplyDelete11. Some of the contributions were:
• The first significant achievement was in the battle of Britain, when the RAF beat off the Luftwaffe attacks, causing Hitler to abandon his invasion plans.
• The American Air Force together with the navy played a vital part in winning the pacific war against the Japanese. Dive-bombers operating from the aircraft carriers Winning the battle of Midway Island then in 1944 in Mariana Island and the Philippines in 1945. American transport planes kept up the vital flow of supplies to the allies during the campaign in Burma.
• There were many events that were contributions that make to be successful in the Allied air power defeating the axis.
12. The fall of Italy was the first stage collapse. British and American troops landed in Sicily from both sea and air with one thing and mind and that was to capture the whole Island. This caused the collapse of the power of Mussolini which made Him history and Italy’s Fascistic policy to fall.
The invasion of France began on 1944. It was felt that the time was in its ends in which Italy was eliminated, the U-boats brought under control and the Allied air superiority achieved. With the Germans forced to retreat in France and in Russia, there were people on both sides who hoped that there might be an armistice followed by a negotiated peace; this was the way that World War was ended. I believed that the most atrocious attack was the defeat of Japan. T he defeat of Japan consisted of the American’s dropping an atomic bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki killing in total 124,000 Japanese civilians. Japan suffered the most but they needed to be stopped, the U.S decided to finish their plans.
13. The reasons why the Axis powers lost the war were because:
• The allies learning from their mistakes and failures
• Shortage of raw materials
• The axis powers taking on too much
• Tactical mistakes by the axis powers
• The overwhelming impact of the combined resources of the USA, the USSR and the British Empire.

1.) When did WWII begin in Europe: who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
ReplyDeleteWorld War 2 began on September 1, 1939. Germany decided to attack Poland because Hitler wanted to be greedy and own more land. Since Hitler was part of the Soviet Union he couldn’t just invade Poland, so he made a plan. Which was taking a random prisoner from the concentration camp and disgusting him as a Poland solider and take him to the border of Germany. Hitler shot him and said it was in self defense because the “Poland solider” was trying to kill a German. On September 1, 1939 Germany ran into Poland and took it over. They bombed bridges and roads.
2.) Describe the Battle of Britain.
In the Battle of Britain Germany invaded Britain thinking that they were going to take over Britain and add it to their territories. This event happened August 12 through September 30, 1940. Germany destroyed 792 British planes and Britain destroyed 1339 German planes. When Hitler noticed that they were losing the battle he decided to stop the invasion. The reasons why Britain won the battle was because they knew that Germany were coming beforehand. They also won the battle because Germany brought enough fuel (they brought enough fuel for 90 minutes) because they thought they were going to beat Britain fast but they were wrong.
3.) Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
Mussolini tired so hard to impress Hitler but failed miserably. They tried to impress him because they didn’t want to get outdone by him. In September, 1940 Mussolini sent troops from Italy to invade Egypt. Also in October, 1940 Mussolini sent troops to invade Greece. However Mussolini’s plan fail and Britain stepped in and drove the Italian troops out of Egypt and pushed them all the way back to Bedafomm. When they got there Britain troops caught 130,000 people and sent them to jail. They also captured 400 tanks. After this failure invasion of Mussolini, Hitler was embarrassed of Mussolini.
4.) Describe Hitler’s first move in 1941 when Hitler (driving Britain out of Libya and then invading Greece).
Hitler’s decision was based on helping his “faltering ally”. Hitler sent the Alfrika korps and Edwin Rommel to Tripoli, along with Italians to kick the Britain’s out of Libya. In April 1941 Hitler invaded Greece and 60,000 troops from Britain, Australia and New Zealand stepped in and tried to protect Greece. Unfortunately, Germany made Britain withdraw and kicked the other troops out of Egypt.
5.) Analyze the German invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa) that began on June 22, 1941.
ReplyDeleteHitler decided to invade Russia because they were afraid that they would invade Germany first. So Germany took action first. Germany wanted to capture Leningrad, Moscow, and Ukraine. The Russians were caught off guard and the Germans went and invaded them. It was a shame because Britain and America warned Russia that Germany was going to try to invade them but Russia didn’t listen to them resulting Russia getting invaded. However, Germany failed to capture Leningrad and Moscow because of the weather conditions during the invasion. It was extremely rainy so the roads turned into mud making it impossible to invade. Later, Germany gave up on trying to invade Russia because of the horrible weather conditions.
6.) Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
The U.S entered the war in 1941 by the Japan. On December 7, 1941. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor (United States’ home base). Japan wanted to attack the U.S because they were running out of supplies. The U.S wanted to stay natural until Japan pushed their buttons too far. Resulting he U.S to react and enter the war.
7) Declaring war on the U.S was a big mistake for Hitler because Hitler he was hated so much already, so going into war with the U.S (a powerful country) will add a big target on their back. Also, Germany's ally is Japan and they are already in war with the U.S so if Germany with Germany getting into war with the U.S Japan wouldn't be able help them because they are already in battle with the U.S.
8) Germany's behavior towards the people from the eastern part of Europe like they we not even humans. The Nazi's opinion about what the role of the people from the eastern part of Europe is being slaves to the "German master-race". The Nazi's forced innocent men and woman to do labour and many people were treat horrible in the concentration camps. As for the Jews, they were treated as slaves they were sent to be exterminated. The Japanese treated the Asians horribly. Japan wanted to take total control over China and create some organizations for example, a greater East Asia coprosperity sphere. Japan hated Asians so much that they created a rule so that Asians couldn't enter Tokyo. With both Germany and Japan acting this way it resulted in nobody wanting to ally with them because of the way they treated people.
9) The El Alamein battle occurred in October 1942. What happen was that Rommel was chased out of Egypt by British and New Zealanders. After this happened the allies were happy because they had received their reinforcements. With them getting these reinforcement it outnumber Germany's. The allies had 1440 tanks and 200,000 troops against 540 tanks and 80,000 men.
10). The role of the allies naval forces during the war is to protect merchant ships, sinking German submarines, bringing food, transporting, and blocking Germany.
11) The Contribution made by the air power to make the defeat of the axis was 1) in the Battle of Britain the RAF caused Hitler to surrender and give up on trying to invade Britain. 2) Britain had awesome aircraft. This resulted many wins of many battles. America also had very good Aircraft, This was how they won the pacific war against Japanese.
ReplyDelete12) THE FALL OF ITALY- British and American troops invaded Sicily On July 10, 1943. This resulted into the Mussolini and Italy going into war.
THE INVASION OF FRANCE-Occurred on June 6, 1944. France's U-boats were in total control. There were over 3 million ally’s troops that invaded France and within a few weeks the northern part of France was in total control.
GERMANY RETREATING IN FRANCE AND RUSSIA- People wanted an armistice with would end the war but then some people wanted to end war by fighting to the death.
As for Germany he wanted to fight to the death.
THE ASSAULT IN GERMANY
-"Hitler launched an offensive through the weakly defended Ardennes towards Antwerp"
-Germans were able to break through the American line and were able to get 60 miles ahead of them creating a bulge.
THE DEFEAT OF JAPAN- on August 6, 1945 America dropped a bomb on Hiroshima. The Americans killed over 84,000 people and injured many people. After the bombing Japan was surrendering and their country was in trouble.
13) The reasons why the Axis powers lost the war was because they didn't have enough supplies, the allies were making extremely big mistakes, and the ally power took on challenges that were impossible for them

WWII: Beginning and End
1. When did WWII begin in Europe: who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
-In 1939 World War 2 begin in Europe. Germany while they used their special tactics to invade Poland was defeated. So in the result of that they surrender to the western Allies. Poland was attacked on Hitler’s orders and that’s what sparked the Second World War.
2. Describe the Battle of Britain.
-The Battle of Britain was a Turing point during World War 2. It was the first time Germany has been defeated. Germany and Britain was fighting over airspace that was in Great Britain. After the Fall of France Germany thought they had a strong chance of getting what they wanted but the Britain’s had great airfields, so it was obvious who had won the battle. It was a victorious success for the British.
3. Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
-In July of 1940, Italy attacked Egypt so that they could gain control of the Suez Canal. But since the Italian Army saw that there were major difficulties they took a huge step back. Mussolini had an impression that Germany was going to attack England he had to change his objectives. He tried appealing the British and freeing the French allied forces. But he didn’t accomplish his goal; in fact Italy never reached the Egypt. So they had no choice to surrender and that caused Hitler’s chances of invading Great Britain to Fail.
4. Describe Hitler’s first move in 1941 when Hitler (driving Britain out of Libya and then invading Greece).
-Hitler’s Forces invaded Greece after he drove Brittan out of Libya. When that happened the Germans captured Athens and that forced British to stand down. That’s exactly what he got.
5. Analyze the German invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa) that began on June 22, 1941.
-Hitler had many motives, but they had seemed to be mixed. He wanted to be more powerful of Japan so that there would be a less chance of USA entering the war. Also he feared that the Russian might have attacked Germany, so that’s why he invaded them. He wanted their territory, so that he could start his foundation.
6. Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
ReplyDelete-Japans attack on the Pearl Harbor, Americans was forced to join because they bombed one of the biggest naval bases that US had. Killing hundreds of Innocent people, Japan left no choice, and that’s why US had declared war on Japan.
7. Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake?
-The United States was the most power fullest country at that time. Since he declared war with the US, many more enemies came in Hitler’s way. Since America was ready to attack Japan, nothing was going to get in the way of that. So Hitler thought that working together with Japan, was going to defeat them. But he thought wrong.
8. Compare the inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by Germany and Japan.
-The Nazi treated their people as sub-humans, and the Jews were exterminated. AS for the Japanese they treated there people that fought in the war badly, but that harsh treatment led Asians Ruling against Tokyo.
9. Discuss the Battle of El Alamein.
-The Battle of El Alamein happened in October 1942. It Prohibited Egypt and the Suez Canal from going into Germanys Hands. It ended any relationship between the Axis forces in the Mideast and Ukraine. The Axis powers were successful because they had massive reinforcements .Also Germans and Italians were variously outnumbered. They had massive amounts of tanks and troops.
10. Describe the role of allied naval forces during the war.
-The Allied naval roles during war were to protect the merchant ships that were bringing food supplies. Also they had to sink any German submarines and surface invaders. Basically their role was to keep Germany Away and supply Allied troops.
11. Allied air power defeated the Axis – what contributions did they make to be so successful? Be sure to include the bombing of German and Japanese cities.
-The contributions that they made to be successful were the allies’ bombings of Germany and Japanese cities. Early in the 1945, American’s had flung a serious of attacks on japan. In one single raid 80,000 people were killed. This type of bombing caused so many innocent deaths .So that meant the end of the controversy. The bombing destroyed railway communications, there was absolutely a huge damage done to japan.
12. The Axis powers were defeated over a two-year time period – describe the following: The fall of Italy; The invasion of France; Germany retreating in France and Russia; The assault in Germany; and the Defeat of Japan.
-Italy provided air bases for the bombing in Germans in the Central Europe also the Balkans. Elimination of the Italy was one step close to victory. Germans were forced to retreat in France and Russia because they had people on both sides. Those people hoped for an armistice and a negotiating peace. However Hitler wanted to fight until death. The allies begin to gather another invasion in Germany, but Germany’s army had fall apart rapidly. Now the defeat in Japan was unexpected, America had dropped a bomb. It left people to die slowly, of radiation poison. Then three days later they dropped another, it affected Japanese generations. After that Japan Surrendered.
13. List the reasons as to why the Axis powers lost the war?
-The axis powers lost the war because they had an ominously less industry then the allies, had no control of their business outputs and they did not have a solid amount of raw materials that was needed for the war. The axes powers didn’t have enough liability and didn’t even have a strong plan .They were clearly not up for a fight.

When did WWII begin in Europe: who was defeated, invaded, attacked to spark war?
WW2 inaugurated on September 1939 when Germany and Russia seized Poland than, Germany also went and seized Denmark and Norway. In May Holland France and Belgium were attacked and defeated. The only country that was left to face the two aggressive dictators, Hitler and Mussolini was Britain. Hitler wanted Britain and attempted to bomb her, during The Battle of Britain.
1. Describe the Battle of Britain.
The battle of Britain started started on August 12 to September 30 1940. This battle was a Air force battle It began when Goering’s Luftwaffe attempted to eliminate the Royal Air Force. This occurred because the Germans claim that The British raided Berlin. The Germans were bombing everything; harbors, radar stations, aerodromes and munitions factories.
2.Analyze Mussolini’s invasion of Egypt.
The invasion of Egypt was Mussolini’s attempt to Surpass Hitler. But it was an epic fail. On September 1940 Mussolini sent Italian troops From Libya to occupy Egypt. The British came and drove them out back to Libya. 130,000 of Mussolini’s men were captured and 400 of his tanks too.
3.Describe Hitler’s first move in 1941 when Hitler (driving Britain out of Libya and then invading Greece).
Hitler in 1914 sent Erwin Rommel accompanied by Afrika Korps to Tripoli to join the Italians to remove the British out of Libya. During April of 1941 Hitler invaded Greece. 24 hours later Britain, Australia and New Zealand sent troops to aid the Greeks. But Germany was to ahead she went and captured Athens the Capital of Greece, due to this The British had no choice but to withdraw allowing the Germans to Bomb Crete with a parachute invasion Which made Britain leave for good.
4.Analyze the German invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa) that began on June 22, 1941.
Operation Barbarossa began on June, 22 1941.the Russians were caught by surprised, due to them not taking Britain and the USA’s warnings of an invasion by Germany into consideration. The battle consisted of 5.5 million men, 3,550 tanks carried by 5,000 aircraft and 4,7000 segments of ordnance. The Russians were at a disadvantage, because they were still repairing their army and air force. The Germans were successful in occupying 3 major Russian cities; Riga, Smolensk, and Kier. But failed to occupy Leningrad and Moscow Due to The severe climate, that muddied the Russian roads and the Germans insufficient winter attire.
5.Discuss how the United States enters the war in 1941.
ReplyDeleteThe US entered the war on December, 7 1941 due to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor which was located in Hawaii. The Japanese reasons behind the attack was due to her economic problems. They were running out of rare materials such as rubber, oil, tin etc…The Japanese sent 353 planes which were undetectable, about two hours later they had demolished 350 American aircrafts and five battleships. The US had 3700 soldiers that were either dead or severely injured. The US after that attack were focused on getting revenge. Due to Hitler’s actions of allying with Japan, they had no trouble convincing congress to declare war on Germany.
6.Why was declaring war on the United States Hitler’s biggest mistake?
It was a big mistake because Hitler allied Germany with Japan, who had cast an attack on Pearl Harbor. The US wanted to get revenge. Hitler declaring war would cause the US to be more focused on the Pacific war. There were no way of avoiding it.
7.Compare the inhumane and brutal behavior displayed by Germany and Japan.
“The Nazis treated people of eastern Europe like sub humans” treated them like slaves of the German Main race. The Jews had it worst than any other race. Hitler want them extinct, they were put in concentration camps and killed by poisonous gases. While others were forced into labor and also killed in cold blood, starvation and burned. The Japanese on the other hand were also treating people like slaves. specially prisoners and other Asians like themselves. The Japanese wanted to organize a great economic empire Called Greater East Asia Co Prosperity Sphere. But do to the hellish treatments the Asians were receiving they revolted against the Rules from Japan's capital Tokyo. From these two Aggressive countries I would say that Hitler and Germany takes the leader on imposing brutally on The eastern Europeans.
8.Discuss the Battle of El Alamein.
The battle of El Alamein which took place on October 1942 was between Afrika Korps and the British on El Alamein Egypt. The battle was the Climax of several other battles that took place there Rommel was finally chased out of Egypt by the British and New Zealanders. They were successful because reinforcements had arrived which provided them with men to outnumber the Germans and Italians. The Germans and Italians Had 80000 men, and 540 tanks while The British and New Zealanders had 230000 men and 1440 tanks. The allies had airplanes that were continuous attacking the Axis forces sinking their ship supplement.
9.Describe the role of allied naval forces during the war.
ReplyDeleteThe Role that the allied naval forces played in the war was Protectorates. They were used to crush the Japanese and Germans at the Pacific war and They also protected merchant and ammunition ships which the allies needed.
10.Allied air power defeated the Axis – what contributions did they make to be so successful? Be sure to include the bombing of German and Japanese cities.
The allies were able to defeat the axis powers because they had help from the New Zealanders, which provided them with more men and ammunition. They used aircrafts to fight battles like The battle of Britain which cause Hitler to leave his invasion plans on Britain. Britain had sunken German battleship Tirpitz. The allied went alonged and bombed Ruhr, Cologne, Hamburg, and Berlin wch were German cities. And also The US used aircrafts to bomb Tokyo Japan's Capital killing a lot of people.
