Compare and Contrast the South African Government to the Government in Spain during the Spanish Civil War.
During the Civil War Spain was divided into two sides, it was the Nationalists and the Republicans, I think this is very similar from the division of the black and whites caused by the Apartheid in South Africa. Tough, when it comes to South Africa, there weren't quite of a tension compared to the conflict in Spain between nationalists and republicans. The Constitution in Spain was created in 1812 but over the years, people weren't so pleased with the constitution that was created, it was right but it didn't give the population the rights they needed. The government in Spain during the 1900s was not the most friendly government. It consisted of two sides, the republicans known as “loyalists”, and on the other side there were the nationalists. Nationalists by far, was a side that was more organized than the republicans. The civil war started because the Nationalists were against the ideology of Republicans. Overall, you can compare this to the government in South Africa. In south Africa, one side was simply against the other sides idea of the way that the government was mainly white powered, the creation of Apartheid, taking away the rights for the black that lived in South Africa, making a living hell for them. With this being said, many activists confronted the government to completely end the Apartheid law that was created in 1948. Activist confronted the government in somewhat a peaceful way. In the end, the problem with the Spanish government was far more more serious than the problem in South Africa. A civil war was created and there were a high level of casualties, there were many countries that were involved with in the war. Now with South Africa, the government had control of its people, it was a government controlled by the whites. The government created the Apartheid and this separated the races in South Africa, taking away most of the rights of the black. This caused a major wave of protest against the government for many years until the Apartheid was finally ended in 1994.

Compare and Contrast the South African government to the government in Algeria during the Algerian war.
- To start off, both governments (South African and Algerian) were both undergoing problems with racial standings. The blacks (in South Africa) only wanted a better government and equal rights for everyone. The Islamist (in Algeria) only wanted to transform the state Algeria into a democracy where people could have the right to vote. At first the government of Algeria was on the Islamist side until they started accusing the Islamist of stealing votes and cheating, then they turned against them and it broke out into a war. The government for South Africa was unwilling to change and this led into protest because the people wanted change, then the government responded by shooting and killing several people. The blacks responded by returning acts of violent aggressions. In this sense, it is the same for both governments because the only reason to why it broke into war for Algeria was because the government led in violent assaults attacking the FIS (Islamic Salvation Front), which, in fact, did not want any sort of violence (same goes for the AFC (African National Congress) who only resorted to violence after the governments actions) but both groups were pushed by the government to pursue violent actions because the government kept assaulting them. Both the AFC and the FIS successfully were able to win over the government. The only difference I can truly see between the two forms of government were how they were ran (One by military to an extent which is Algeria, the other to apartheid which is in South Africa).
Compare and Contrast the South African government to the government in China during the China war.
South Africa government I can say was kind of like China's government back in the day. Just like South Africa, China had problems of it's own that made it worse for the people. It was either pick this side and fight or pick the opposing one and fight;there was no peace. Even so both of the government had a strong leader, South Africa had Nelson while China had Mao. They both wanted there nation to be one of the best, in which they tried to do. But like I said they were forces that didn't like the ideas. For South Afica the Apartheid would tried you interven with the peace that was going on and for China the KMT wanted things there way, didn't care about the people at all. It took China to get there government on track because of the marches and protest did for the CPC. Just how Neslon had to but it because of rights not because of the economy, this is what more of China was trying to fight for. And China really didn't have no help when they were in war with thereself, at least Africa had other people that wanted to help. But overall I feel they both with through struggles, but trying to fix there nation, just in different ways. Mao had to use violence, while Nelson did peace.

The government during the Chinese Civil War was the Kuomintang and even though they were rough less with the people China still had control and people weren't being assassinated for no reason. Meanwhile China under the control of Mao Zedong was in complete destruction. The policies that Mao implemented led to the destruction of china. The children were behind on education, families betrayed each, many innocents were killed for petty reasons and China’s economy instead of raising to be compatible with the United States, Britain, etc. The Civil was nothing compare to the melancholy Mao put Cina through in the Cultural Revolution. The Cultural Revolution was so bad some of the Chinese citizens resorted to cannibalism. The Civil many had cause deaths of 1.8 million to 3.5 million people during 1927 to 1949. But the Cultural revolution cause 30 million deaths. WHen the two events are compare, even though they both had a really negative effect on china I would say the Civil war was better compared to the Cultural Revolution.
Compare and contrast the South African government to the government in Spain during the Spanish civil war.
South Africa’s government had created a movement called apartheid and this meant that the blacks and whites were separated. The whites had all the rights and benefits while the blacks had no peace or freedom because they were controlled by the whites. This created tension between both races and the blacks started to fight which brought down the government. During the Spanish civil war the fight was between the nationalists and Republicans because both sides wanted to have more power than the other. Both sided disagreed with each other on how to govern Spain which created a civil war between both sides. Both the south African war and the Spanish civil war was fought for power over the government but the difference was that the African civil war started because of discrimination and no freedom for the blacks, while the Spanish civil war started because the nationalists and republicans didn't like each other and both wanted to take all the power.
Compare and contrast the government of South Africa to the government of China during the Civil war.
The governments of South Africa and China during the civil war have their differences and similarities. One of their similarities is that they both create groups in order to fight for change. In South Africa there were many groups created in order to abolish apartheid. Two of the most popular groups were the African National Congress and the Inkatha Freedom Party. The leader of the African National Congress was Nelson Mandela. The leader of the Inkatha Freedom Party was Mangosuthu Buthelezi. These two significant figures in South African history were passionate about making South Africa a country of Peace and equality. These groups were successful in getting rid of apartheid and got along. Groups formed in China were not always on the same page. There were two popular groups during the civil war that were not always friendly to each other. They were the Kuomintang and the Chinese Communist Party. Both parties had opposing views when it came to handling the government. Another powerful figure that was a part of the Chinese government was Mao Zedong. He supported communism and wanted all of China to support it also. That is a difference between the South African and Chinese government, they fought for different reasons. South Africa fought for peace while China fought for communism.

My Extended Essay focuses on the French Government prior to, during and shortly after the First World War. My IA focuses on Spain during prior to and during the Spanish Civil War of the 1930’s. Both governments can be compared regarding their philosophies, prior to the Spanish Civil War, the Primo Governments and the French Republic both attempted to be more experimental and revolutionary with their policies and laws. Both saw cases of Communist (or Marxist) and ultra-nationalist groups emerging (At the edge of war in Spain, and at the end of the Second French Empire). However, the reason for the appearance of such groups in both countries was different. In Spain, Marxists and ultra-nationalists came about as a result of external influence (Germany, Italy, and Russia namely), whereas in France they originated thanks to the downfall of the Second French Empire and Napoleon III’s poor management. Another difference is the road that each government took. Spain’s government system changed into a dictatorship led by Francisco Franco whereas France remained a Republic albeit a more modern form of it.

Compare and Contrast the Government of South Africa with the government of Nigeria during the Nigerian Civil War.
The Nigerian government and South African governments had some contrastes. For example, the Nigerian government created the unitary system of government in Nigeria: a unitary form has one central decision in making power, with decisions communicated to and implemented by regional and local authorities also local citizens. Nigerian government wanted the people to feel important in terms of decision making so he wanted to input peoples voices so that they would feel heard and listened to. In South Africa at that time the government did not care what the people thought or feel. Whatever they wanted is what happened, they didn't want color people voice to be included in the final say. In that mindset the south African government formed something called apartheid, which was a system of racial segregation in South Africa enforced through legislation by the National Party governments at that time, under which the rights, associations, and movements of the majority black inhabitants were curtailed and Afrikaner minority rule was maintained.Which wasn't fair at all. In terms of similarities, both governments enforced what they wanted without interruption. The Nigerian government considered the voice of their people but if he did not agree with it then his decision would still continue. Another similarity is that both governments had a ran into trouble with british colonies that caused either civil wars or outbreaks of wars.

Trujillo, a dictator of Dominican Republic, took down his step father to take control over the Dominican Republic in the early 1930’s. The South African Government gave a place for the South Africans to be in at least. Nelson Mandela stood up for this cause and went after the South African Government but In Dominican Republic there was no one to go against Trujillo’s reign. In 1961 Trujillo was assassinated and the country was in panic because those who supported him now asked “what would we do without him?”. Those that were opposed found a way to feel free from this man but in South Africa it was different. In South Africa, Nelson Mandela was liberated and continued to work for the people. Although the apartheid in South Africa has a difference from what my extended essay focuses on, they both shared some form of human separation that caused pain in the country.
