What role did Mikhail Gorbachev play in ending the Cold War?
-Mikhail wasn't like the other leaders like Stalin and Lenin. There was a system in Russia where there were rules that you had to obey that would keep Russia in check. With Stalin and Lenin was focused on education and same equal rights that everyone couldn't complain. Stepping into this rule Gorbachev change all this because he believed that Russia could of been better, so he change a few stuff. He started to miss with the Soviet Union by letting the people compete in business which turned everything crazy because the people weren't use to this. This was the only big part that he tried to do a lot of changes reason to why the Berlin Wall collapsed which mark the ending of the Cold War.In 1991 Gorbachev fell out of power and the Soviet Union itself vanished.

What role did Mikhail Gorbachev play in ending the Cold War?

    - Mikhail Gorbachev playing a somewhat good role for the Americans, he was the reason why the communist countries had a small revolution causing the communist countries to fall, causing the East side of Europe to lose in the Cold War and I'll tell you why it all traces it back to Mikhail Gorbachev. In 1985 a reformer came in power in Russia named Mikhail Gorbachev! He was in Russia for a political reform and he did by changing how communism works. He gave people more freedom that communism usually would. He gave the media more freedom than ever. Giving the people freedom, whenever the president did something morally wrong, he would be heavily criticized by the public. When he came in he also wanted to reform the system in Russia by competition within business and freedom, which is the complete opposite of Communism. And when you don't obey the rules of Communism the public will overcome the government. Now you can see how giving the people freedom in communism will create a hole in the communist country making the people go through it and create a revolution. I guess this is why the communist countries dislike very much the capitalism life.

Mikhail Gorbachev played a role in ending the cold war.Unlike most leaders before him, Gorbachev was not as closed minded about western ideals and in fact added western ideals into his own two major policies. Gorbachev's policy of Glasnost (openness), brought democracy to USSR officials while Perestroika was meant to reconstruct the political and economic system of Russia. Gorbachev had hoped that these policies would help the Russian economy however, he couldn't control the massive change that came along with them. The freedom that came along with Gorbachev's policies sparked change in other communist countries. The fall of communism began the Polish voted and elected a non communist government. Many people thought the Russian would retaliate with but Gorbachev didn't respond to the matter. By 1989, the Berlin Wall was being taken down and the Baltic states demanded freedom as well. Eventually the Soviet Union collapsed which led to the end of the cold war.

Question- What role did Mikhail Gorbachev play in ending the Cold War?

Mikhail Gorbachev played a role in ending the Cold War. Gorbachev was not like the other leaders, he was better and was more open minded, and gave people more right’s. Mikhail Gorbachev was a better leader than Stalin and Lenin. Gorbachev had policies that he introduced with were glasnost "openness" and perestroika "restructuring". The reason why Gorbachev introduced those policies is because he thought that it will help Russia. Mikhail was the change for communism, he let people have freedom and gave them freedom for media, etc. He thought that Russia could make a change and be better with his help that he tried to amply. But then the Berlin Wall ended up collapsing and that when they seen that the Cold War was coming to an end. Gorbachev ended up falling out of power due to that and so did the Soviet Union. Everything had fell apart after that.

What role did Mikhail Gorbachev play in ending the Cold War?

Mikhail Gorbachev coming to power in Russia made it possible for the Cold War to come to an end. While Gorbachev was in power, his communist party was weakened. But that was not the worse thing because the Soviet Union was destroyed and there was more freedom in Russia. By Gorbachev playing a role in ending the Cold War, the Soviet Union eventually collapsed in 1991 and this led to 15 independent nations being created. Another positive outcome of the Cold War ending thanks to Gorbachev was that an anti communist leader was able to become elected. Gorbachev wanted to make his own policies and challenge those of Stalin which led to the weakening of his communist party but in the end if it was not for Gorbachev going against the already set policies in Russia, then the Cold War along with communism would have never ended. It was all because Gorbachev wanted to reform the soviet economic and political system.

I think that Mikhail Gorbachev had an impact on ending the cold war. He introduced new policies to a communist country that sort of involved democracy and gave the citizens of Russia more freedom. I don’t think that Russia which wasn’t doing so great economy wise was ready for a big change because it just made their communism weaker. Mikhail Gorbachev’s intentions were to make Russia a better country for all but in reality it just weakened the country as a whole and weren’t strong enough to keep fighting in the cold war. Many of the smaller states controlled by Russia wanted their own independence and the Berlin Wall came down so Russia no longer controlled East Germany as well. Russia controlled less and less as time went on, they were already struggling with their own economy and dealing with something else such a war made it impossible to improve. Gorbachev should have just never introduced the new policies of openness and freedom and should have just look to strengthen as a communist country, which could have made them more successful during the cold war.

    Gorbachev

    1. When Gorbachev was ruling, and during his time as leader of the Soviet Union, he began to implement different policies because the USSR was not functioning as it was doing before. Some Russian’s proclaimed that the USSR should have been following China’s communism process since it was a success for them and it would have also been a success for the USSR and they probably would have kept a stand today. There needed to be a reform in communism in the USSR as there was no connection between the Government and the USSR. This reform consisted of things like changing the economical structure which brought the Soviet Union to crumble. In Gorbachev’s mind, he believed that making several changes without having to change any fundamental agreements of the USSR in many areas like the economy would be a good thing as it was different then what the Chinese where doing having many historians conclude that the USSR failed because of this decision. It was Gorbachev’s reluctance to impose him to radical changes that led to the end of the Soviet Union. Countries like Poland demanded freedom and received it but Gorbachev ignored these actions and like dominos, the Soviet Union’s powers began to fall part one by one. Communists from Hungary to Czechoslovakia throwing away their communistic ideals and even Romanian Dictator Nicolae Ceausescu being executed where just things leading to the crumble of the USSR. The events came down to the destruction of the Berlin Wall which was what put an end to the Cold War as East Germany revolted against Communism. This concluded that because of a leaders non act, there was a radical eruption against Communism bringing the Gorbachev times to an end and the end of the Eurocentric-USSR.

What role did Mikhail Gorbachev play in ending the Cold War?
When Mikhail Gorbachev gained power in 1985 and introduced to policies to the Soviet Union. He introduced glasnost and perestroika to the USSR. Glasnost was the willingness to let western good and ideas into the USSR to trade goods and other things. Perestroika was limiting soviet citizens to market incentives. These were two good policies that helped end the Cold War and also help rebuild the economy.
When Gorbachev dismantled communism he fixed many economic, social, and political problem. When he did this he started a chain reaction that made all the other countries dismantle communism as well. Gorbachev was taken down from power in 1991 by a group called the Boris Yeltin. Gorbachev believed that the Cold War started because there was no trust between the United states and the Soviet Union. They also tore down the Berlin wall to show the very end of the Cold War.

What role did Mikhail Gorbachev play in ending the Cold War?
In a conflict, all sides must reach a common consensus in order to end the conflict diplomatically. In the Cold War, for a long time, while the USA may have preferred to end conflict for the greater good, the Soviet Union refused to do so. Mikhail Gorbachev was responsible for finally having the willpower, and determination to reach the consensus with the West in order to end the Cold War. Mikhail Gorbachev had a tremendous role in ending the Cold War.
Gorbachev took the initiative, he instated the Glasnost (Openness) and Perestroika (Restructuring) policies which aimed to mend relationships with the West and dissolve the “Iron Curtain”. Glasnost aimed to increase transparency with the West, while the Perestroika removed the Stalinist system left by Gorbachev’s predecessors. Gorbachev was willing to let other Soviet states break off from the Soviet Union in order to end their flawed Union and end the pointless Cold War conflict. Gorbachev’s reforms took a more Liberal/Western tone, appealing to the US and lowering their previous suspicions and intolerance towards them.

  11. What role did Mikhail Gorbachev play in ending the Cold War?

When the Soviet Union's economy was crumbling and was not fully stable, Mikhail Gorbachev was elected the general secretary. The Soviet Union's politics were stable. However the military were spending lots of money to keep it going strong. To help stop the decline of the economy Gorbachev came with solutions to help improve the Soviet Union. Some of the solutions that he came up with was to improve the foreign policy and improve the domestic dimension. Gorbachev wanted to give more people freedom. Many people disagreed with the way that Gorbachev tuned things. However, he was the president so there was nothing anyone can really do about it. Since no one could really stop Gorbachev, communism was slowly falling apart. In the end the Berlin Blockade was taken off and shortly but slowly communism was falling apart.

What role did Mikhail Gorbachev play in ending the Cold War?

-Mikhail Gorbachev play a huge role in ending the Cold War. He arranged many reforms so that some of the “living standards” was improved severely. Many European and western leaders was impressed by his plans of “missile reductions” Although he had a great image the president at that time did not trust the Soviet Union,so Gorbachev plan was to have kindhearted relationship with Reagan and he did accomplish that. So both Reagan and Gorbachev put their minds together so that they can work on ending the cold war. In 1987, Gorbachev and Reagan signed the “INF Treaty”,which was to make the“nuclear weapons”in the US and Western Europe small. By the time it was 1989 Gorbachev was elected as president he changed a whole lot. He had a great impact on the economy, he was getting really popular and his reforms had an outstanding impact on communism because it collapsed throughout Eastern Europe. Gorbachev knew what he was doing and a lot transformations had carried out.

Mikhail Gorbachev he introduced two new policies which were named glasnost and perestroika. Glasnost was introduced to make the USSR remain open minded to western suggestions and merchandise. And perestroika was introduced to allowed limited market inducement to the USSR. Gorbachev anticipated that these changes would change the Russia for the better. He introduce these new reforms to help improve Russia’s living standards and work productivity. But the policies that he introduce backfired due to the fact that they were of democratic freedoms which Russia fund hard to adapt to because it was used to a strictly communist policies nothing liberal like the West. Gorbachev had recreated ties with the Western leader that had been lost during the cold war and he wrked together with president Ronald Reagan to end the cold war.Gorbachev and Reagan went and signed the treaty called the INF treaty that reduce the number of nuclear weapons the United States and Western Europe rejoiced.
